Darby Allin thinks WWE counterprogramming AEW events is “fun.”
Only days after AEW announced it was returning to Chicago for All Out on September 26th, WWE announced that AAA Worlds Collide would take place, not only on the same day, but in the same city.
Recently, Tony Khan said he sees the move by WWE as a compliment, but also acknowledged that it was just part of the “predatory nature” of event scheduling.
Now, Darby Allin has given his thoughts on the topic. In an interview with Adrian Hernandez, the former AEW World Champion said he “loves it.”
“I love it. I honestly feel like that’s when you do your best work. It’s no secret that everybody does their best work when their back’s against the wall. I think it’s fun.”
Allin went on to say that his life doesn’t entirely revolve around wrestling, so he can “just laugh” at some of the things that go on in that business.
“My life doesn’t begin and end with wrestling, I have so much outside interests and hobbies, passions, that sometimes I just laugh at all this wrestling stuff cause I’m like, there’s a whole world out there. It’s just like, alright man, whatever. But honestly, I feel like it’s going to be fun.”

It’s no secret that Darby Allin’s violent style is heavily inspired by the Hardcore Legend, Mick Foley. Recently, Foley compared Allin to Cactus Jack, but with a whole lot of athleticism. He says that Allin has created a hybrid style that borrows from him as well as others who were “far more athletic” than he could be, and used that to become one of the biggest stars in the new generation of wrestlers.
