Covington’s profile has also been moved to the “Retired” section of the UFC site.
Covington could be focusing more on wrestling or perhaps even joining the WWE. In January, he had his first match at Real American Freestyle’s RAF05. Colby Covington defeated Luke Rockhold on the card. Covington defeated Dillon Danis in the co-main event of RAF 07 in March and is scheduled to face Chris Weidman at RAF 09 this month.
Covington told RG at the time about perhaps joining the WWE: “You got Logan Paul, who came over from boxing and he’s doing a tremendous job over there. It makes sense. I think I can transition well. I know how to shoot promos and no one knows how to wrestle better than me. I’d love the opportunity when the timing’s right.”
Covington has already had a taste for pro-wrestling. He appeared in Impact Wrestling back in 2017.
“The deal came together from my teammate Bobby Lashley and also my manager Dan Lambert. They made the relationship happen. It’s always been something I want to do. I love the dynamics of it and everything that goes into it. That’s definitely an avenue I’ll go down in the future,” he said to Fightful MMA.
Covington has a background in wrestling throughout college and university. He was a two-time Pac-10 Conference champion.
Covington fought in the UFC for 12 years becoming the Interim UFC Welterweight Champion in 2018.
