TNA President Carlos Silva is firing back at comments made by Will Ospreay.
Reacting to TNA pulling their talent from WrestleMania week shows Ospreay said on the YoJoshMartinez show: “Who the f–k do you think you guys are? I’m sorry. All the f—–g talk they were giving about being number two and you want to get permission for these guys to do that match and then pull them? I think that’s cowardly s–t. I think that says everything about what you view your talent as. You view them as less than AEW talent and that they don’t want to grow and they don’t want to develop and they don’t want to give back to fans. That’s me being a hard TNA fan. Those beginning years, the 2004-05 era will always be my favorite era in wrestling, but come on, we’ve got all the best guys from there. To be fair, I like Steve Maclin, he’s sick. Hang your head in shame, honestly.”
On the Z100 New York YouTube channel, Josh Martinez asked Silva about Ospreay’s statement. At first, Silva said he didn’t feel he needed to respond to Ospreay at all.
“Look, business is business. Every pro-wrestling business is going to protect themselves. We are going to continue to do that,” he promised.
He then addressed wrestling fans.
“What I would say is I got a lot of heat. It is okay. Fans can bring me heat. There is only one reason I did it. That was to protect TNA and have our house protected. If people are going to come at us we are going to do things to protect TNA,” he said without naming AEW.
Silva said when they made their latest TV deal they deemed that every promotion had their nights and Thursday would be TNA’s night.
“If someone is going to come onto Thursday night against us we are going to take that very seriously. If someone is going to block us from going into a venue because they aren’t allowed to talk to us because another organization is there we are going to take that seriously. That is the kind of stuff that happens,” said Silva once again inferring that AEW is interfering in TNA’s business.
