Becky Lynch made WWE history at Clash in Italy, though not in the way she would have hoped.
Becky Lynch lost the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Sol Ruca on Sunday night in Turin, ending her third reign with the title and setting a new record in the process. The title change came when Lynch attempted a Manhandle Slam near the corner. Ruca countered the move before connecting with the Sol Snatcher to score the pinfall and capture her first singles championship on WWE’s main roster.
With the defeat, Lynch’s latest reign ended after just 43 days, making it the shortest WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship reign since the title’s introduction. The previous record was jointly held by AJ Lee and Maxxine Dupri, with both reigns lasting 49 days. Lynch’s second reign with the championship lasted 54 days, while inaugural champion Lyra Valkyria held the title for 145 days.
Becky Lynch Also Holds The Record For Longest WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Reign
Ironically, Becky Lynch also owns the record for the longest reign in the title’s history, having held the championship for 163 days during her first run with the gold. Lynch regained the title from AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42, but her latest stint as champion proved short-lived as Ruca completed one of the biggest victories of her career.
The championship win marks a significant milestone for Ruca, who only recently arrived on Raw and has quickly established herself as one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars. After overcoming setbacks in recent weeks, including high-profile losses and an injury scare, Ruca now leaves Clash in Italy as the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
