Asuka has addressed the growing speculation surrounding her future following her recent loss to Iyo Sky at Backlash and the emotional segment that followed on WWE Raw.
The former Women’s Champion broke her silence late Thursday night in a new video uploaded to her YouTube channel, where she discussed the rumours surrounding her status with WWE. Speaking in Japanese, Asuka explained that personal matters had kept her away from social media in recent weeks and confirmed that she had spoken directly with WWE about her situation.
“It’s already been about two weeks since my last match at Backlash,” Asuka said. “I know there are a ton of rumours flying around out there.”
Asuka acknowledged that many fans have questioned whether she plans to wrestle again, return to Japan, or leave WWE entirely. However, she stopped short of announcing any retirement plans. Instead, the veteran star insisted she still feels capable of performing at the highest level and suggested part of the recent change was to stop fans from taking her constant presence for granted.
“Nothing lasts forever,” Asuka explained. “Everything is finite.”
The former champion also reflected on her broader creative identity outside wrestling, describing herself as both a wrestler and a designer, and said she views her entire life as a form of art.
What’s Next For Asuka Following Her Apparent Retirement At Backlash?
Although she avoided directly confirming what comes next, Asuka made it clear she remains under contract with WWE and teased the possibility of an unexpected return in the future.
“Don’t forget, I am still officially with WWE,” she said. “So there’s a chance I might just pop up in front of you when you least expect it.”
Asuka closed the video by reflecting on the impact she made upon first arriving in WWE and encouraged fans to appreciate future appearances, as they may become increasingly rare. She also promised to become more active on social media again in order to stay connected with fans.
