AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo has announced he will be out of action for an unspecified period after dealing with a health issue following Grand Slam: Mexico.
Andrade El Idolo competed at the event last Wednesday, defeating Tommaso Ciampa and Komander in a three-way match to secure the number one entry in the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In: London.
The 36-year-old subsequently travelled to Canada and fulfilled two scheduled appearances for MLP despite not feeling well. After returning home to Miami, Andrade revealed on social media that he visited a doctor and will now need some time away from the ring.
“Hi everyone and especially Las Señoritas! I’ve just landed back in Miami, where I live, and I went straight to the DR. I hadn’t been feeling well since the Wednesday after the Grand Slam, but as a professional, I had two shows in Canada with MLP. I’ll keep you posted, but I have to be out of action for a few days or weeks. It’s nothing serious, Take care! but… I have one question?”
Andrade did not disclose the nature of the issue, but stressed that it is nothing serious. His comments leave his exact return date unclear, with the AEW star suggesting his absence could last anywhere from several days to a few weeks.
MJF Responds To Andrade El Idolo’s News
MJF, who attacked Andrade El Idolo following his victory at Grand Slam: Mexico, responded to the announcement on social media.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA How you know? OH I KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED!”
Andrade’s absence comes at an important point ahead of All In: London on August 30. His victory at Grand Slam: Mexico guaranteed him the opening position in the Casino Gauntlet Match, although there has been no indication that his participation at the event is currently in doubt.
Andrade is also the reigning AEW National Champion, having defeated Mark Davis for the title at Redemption. He has successfully defended the championship once since winning it.
