Alberto del Río is a free man.
According to the El Universal media outlet, Del Rio agreed to pay his wife one million pesos ($55,000 to $60,000 USD) as part of a legal agreement, settlement between the two.
The case will not go to trial even though prosecutors believe they have enough evidence to do so.
Police arrived at their San Luis Potosí residence over the weekend after an emergency call was made from the home.
The report states his wife, Mary Carmen Rodríguez Lucero, had called emergency services claiming Del Rio assaulted her.
Police say Del Río resisted arrest and fought with officers of the State Civil Guard before they managed to handcuff him.
It is unknown what other details were agreed upon in the settlement.
