The men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final for AEW Forbidden Door is officially set following Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite: Summer Blockbuster.
Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland secured his place in the final by defeating Brody King in the tournament semi-finals. The closing moments of the match proved controversial, as Prince Nana struck a bloodied King with a foreign object while the referee was distracted. Strickland then capitalised with a vertebreaker to score the pinfall victory.
With the win, Strickland advances to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28 in San Jose, California, where he will meet Will Ospreay in the tournament final. The stakes could not be much higher. The winner of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament will earn a future AEW World Championship match at All In this August.
The match will also add another chapter to the growing rivalry between Strickland and Ospreay.
Their first meeting took place at Forbidden Door 2024, when Strickland successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Ospreay. The pair met again at last year’s Summer Blockbuster edition of Dynamite, wrestling to a 30-minute time-limit draw in one of the most acclaimed matches of 2025.
Now, with a world title opportunity hanging in the balance, the two stars will meet for a third time in what promises to be one of the headline attractions of Forbidden Door.
