Two more championship matches have been confirmed for AEW Redemption following Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite.
New AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will make the first defence of his second reign when he faces TNT Champion Kevin Knight at the July 26 pay-per-view in Montreal.
Knight confronted Omega during an in-ring segment involving Will Ospreay on Dynamite, reminding the champion that he was still owed a title opportunity after MJF promised him a shot for helping Team MJF in the 12-man Steel Cage Match at Forbidden Door.
The bout will mark Knight’s third challenge for the AEW World Championship this year after previously falling short against MJF and Darby Allin. Although Omega and Knight have previously competed on the same team twice, Redemption will mark their first singles meeting.
Omega captured the World Title from MJF on last week’s Beach Break edition of Dynamite, beginning his second reign with the title.
The AEW National Title Will Also Be On The Line At Redemption
Also announced for Redemption is the AEW National Championship match between champion Mark Davis and Andrade El Idolo.
Andrade secured the opportunity by defeating Jake Doyle on Dynamite, earning the title shot Don Callis had promised him several weeks ago.
The match continues the rivalry between the former Don Callis Family stablemates after Andrade turned on Callis and Team MJF during the main event Steel Cage Match at Forbidden Door.
Despite teaming together on four occasions in the promotion, Redemption will be the first singles match between Andrade and Davis.
Davis enters the contest looking to make the seventh successful defence of his National Championship, while Andrade will challenge for his first AEW singles title since unsuccessfully competing for the TNT Championship in March 2022.
AEW Redemption takes place on July 26 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
