A special late-night edition of AEW Collision aired immediately following AEW Dynamite on Wednesday night, delivering several major matches and confrontations ahead of AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday.
The show was headlined by a hard-hitting showdown between Will Ospreay and Katsuyori Shibata, while FTR defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong.
Ospreay and Shibata opened the show with a physical and technical battle that saw both men trade submissions, strikes and dangerous suplexes on the apron and floor. Shibata repeatedly targeted Ospreay’s neck and spine, while Ospreay fought back with aerial offence and a Falcon Arrow.
Late in the contest, distractions at ringside briefly shifted momentum before Ospreay escaped a cross armbreaker and eventually connected with a Hidden Blade, followed by a high stack roll-up to secure the victory.
After the match, Samoa Joe confronted Ospreay and warned him ahead of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Ospreay responded with an emotional promo about overcoming injury and carrying the pressure of representing AEW and the United Kingdom as they head toward Wembley Stadium.
Elsewhere on the show, RUSH quickly defeated TJ Crawford in dominant fashion. Crawford attempted a respectful handshake before the match, but RUSH immediately turned aggressive and overwhelmed him with strikes before finishing him off with the Bull’s Horns.
The women’s division was also featured in an AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Five Minute Challenge Eliminator Match as Divine Dominion’s Megan Bayne and Lena Kross destroyed Elle Valentine and Kayla Lopez in under three minutes. The duo dominated from start to finish before scoring the win with a double chokeslam.
The main event then saw FTR defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Cassidy and Strong in a chaotic match filled with near-falls, interference, and momentum swings. FTR attacked before the opening bell, but Cassidy and Strong quickly fought back and repeatedly pushed the champions close to defeat throughout the contest.
Cassidy nearly secured the titles multiple times following DDTs, Stundog Millionaires and roll-ups, while Strong neutralised both Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood during several lengthy sequences. However, the match eventually turned following outside involvement from Stokely.
Although Cassidy briefly caused Harwood to accidentally strike Stokely, the manager later recovered and hit Cassidy in the face with a watch while the referee was distracted. Harwood immediately capitalised by rolling Cassidy up for the victory, allowing FTR to retain the championships ahead of Double or Nothing.
