A number of years ago, Ottawa’s Sheldon Jean was selected for Big Brother Canada.

Speaking with SlamWrestling.net after Night 2 of MLPW’s Mayhem, Jean spoke of his experience on the show despite it being cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

“Big Brother was a pretty crazy experience. It’s exactly what it looks like. It might be a little bit amped up based off of an edit, but everything is very much so real.” The experience was something Jean had looked forward to before seizing the opportunity.

“My whole thing is that I pride myself as being very mentally tough and having mental endurance,” Jean shared. “So unfortunately, the pandemic canceled the season a little [early] but I was still able to accomplish a lot of what I want to accomplish in there. So what I can take away from it is just that I am capable of doing things even if they haven’t happened yet.”

“The things that I see in my future, I am worthy and capable of [achieving them].”

The Sidewalk Savant’s mental fortitude not only helped him on Big Brother Canada, but in the ring this weekend as well. He spoke about his intensely personal Saturday match against Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya.

“I am on the same level and that I should be taken just as seriously and based off of the result yesterday, even though I wasn’t victorious, I do think I proved that I am very much so on the same level and potentially even higher. So inevitably, that was the goal, and I think I achieved it.”

The two were part of a talent exchange a number of years ago between wrestling schools in Japan and Canada.

Despite taking the loss, Jean opened many eyes to his talent. Among those eyes were those of QT Marshall and Blake Christian. Fans should check out Northern Rising at the historic Maple Leaf Gardens on Saturday, May 10 to see what Sheldon Jean reaps from this new alliance.
