On this NWA Powerrr, we will see Hunter Drake face Alex Taylor in a non-title match as well as tag team action where the Country Gentlemen will play it By The Book, and Alexander Lev and Alex Misery will go head to head with the loser serving the victor. Plus, Bryan Idol and “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason come face to face with a few words to say ahead of their match at the National Wrestling Alliance’s The Looks That Kill signature event next week.
We come to you from the PowerrrStation at the WEDU PBS studios in Tampa, FL. Joe Galli, Billy Corgan, and Danny Dealz have the call and your First Match of the Night is between…
Baba Thunder vs. Burchill
Looks like the former “Commander Azeez” re-branded himself.
Huh.
It’s funny how that happens after “Creative” in another company claims they have nothing for you.
Right from the word jump, Thunder clubs at his back with Galli remarking he “strikes like lightning.”
A little on the nose, but he’s not wrong.
Thunder is every inch the seven-foot aggressor as he chokes Burchill with a boot, and then he whips the Englishman to the corner and back with a splash. He catches him in a bear hug and Burchill fights his way out and proceeds with short-arm clotheslines but then gets knocked down with a shoulder tackle. Thunder returns with a delayed front suplex, then goes back to choking him with his boot. The ref attempts to give instruction and gets shoved by Thunder for his troubles, and that leads him to ring the bell because…
Your Winner via Disqualification: Burchill
That doesn’t deter Thunder as he continues beating down Burchill. Once the dust settles, Mike Mondo enters the ring, likes what he sees and stands over Burchill. He did allude last time to eyeing someone from his past.
Kyle Davis at ringside with EC3 on his thoughts on the upcoming steel cage match at The Looks That Kill against Thom Latimer for the Ten Pounds of Gold.
Again, The OverMan lays it out:
“Though Thom Latimer is the NWA World’s Heavyweight champion, he knows the true power in the NWA lies with ME-C3.
Why?
Good question. Because I am a leader. I am obsessed. I am obsessed with cultivating greatness, with bringing beautiful beasts from nothing into something, which is what I did with you, Thom Latimer. The championship belongs to you because of me. I am the reason you are the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. I brought you to your best self; not your wife, not your best mate, but me.
Why?
Because I hail from people who have built empires and who have had multiple title raids. I am like Alexander the Great had a baby with Ric Flair. Can I get a ‘Whooo?'”
Fans at ringside obliged The OverMan as he continued:
“This is my great crusade. Dare I say, this is my Exodus in Dothan, AL. Thom Latimer, I’m not locked in a cage with you. You’re locked in a cage with me. You want to bring in God in Alabama, inside a steel cage, you’ll be on your knees begging for salvation. Because remember, republics become empires democracies become tyrannies and Overmen become Overlords.”
Intense words from EC3 and we’ll see if he can back them up.
Back at PowerrrStation, Blunt Force Trauma is in the ring with a couple of guys from the local FTW promotion and this is just a squash match. The important thing is Carnage and Damage are dominant throughout, and before I can do a Haiku or find a squash recipe, Carnage delivers a standing dropkick and it’s over.
Your Winners via Pinfall: Blunt Force Trauma
This is just a warning to any foolish tag teams to get in the squared circle with Carnage and Damage, as Aron Stevens laughs at what his tag team accomplished.
But it’s time to go By The Book for a…
Six-Man Tag Match: The Country Gentlemen (AJ and KC, with Joe Cazana) vs. The Rewind Society (VHS and Samuel C) with Christian Anderson
Anderson is a local Tampa wrestler, and VHS and Samuel C are no strangers to the NWA, as they also come out of the FTW promotion. Joe is not dressed to wrestle and takes his sweet time undressing while his sons dress down the hapless young wrestlers. AJ and KC double team with a back elbow/side Russian legsweep combo, and they are in no hurry. AJ and KC showboat a little, until Anderson gets his hand on Papa Joe’s throat. Well, that don’t fly with the Cazana boys, but what does is Anderson as he’s sent crashing down from a Doomsday Device, and then Joe puts a boot to cover for the pin and the win.
Your Winners via Pinfall: The Country Gentlemen
The Cazanas get ready to celebrate their win until Carson Drake comes out with the Slimeballz and do a stare-down. Corgan sees they want to fight, and so he sanctions the next match which is billed as a six-man tornado tag team match with…
The Country Gentlemen vs. The Slimeballz (Sage Chantz and Tommy Rant) with Carson Drake
This quickly becomes, as Galli aptly puts it, “a demolition derby of a match.” The Slimeballz gets the upper hand and Drake lands with his signature Drake Shuffle to a fist drop for a cover on AJ and KC breaks the count. They focus their attention on Papa Joe and the Cazana boys break it up once again. AJ nails Chantz with a fireman’s carry to a powerslam and KC adds flourish with a Fargo Strut to a leg drop for the pin, and now Rant breaks it up. He’s going to town on the Cazanas and headbutts KC. Rant hits the ropes and AJ pulls him out to brawl outside. Drake comes back in the squared circle with a chain around his fist, and Joe is there with the NWA Rule Book. Drake ducks out and gets the Slimeballz to retreat. Drake says they stink of Hennessy on their breath and says he “won’t wrestle someone whose breath is like their GPA; a 2.0.”
HA! That was an awesome line.
As for the match, it’s declared that…
Your Winners via Count Out: The Country Gentlemen
Again, I don’t know what the endgame is with Drake and the Slimeballz pairing. But I do like how engaging it is.
There is a vignette by Tiffany Nieves and she asks when will Natalia Markova learn to back down. “LA Princesa” makes it clear that The Russian Crush has her work cut out for her. Get it. Got it. Bueno.
I am the best at everything 💅🏽 https://t.co/uX83v4MCek

Now for non-title action between…
Hunter Drake vs. Alex Taylor
The last time we saw Drake was at Back to the Territories, where he challenged Marco Pardua, Dante Cassanova, and Jeremiah Plunkett for the vacant NWA Mid-American title. Of course, we know who won that match, but let’s see how he fares against the “Too Hot to Trot” Southern Six member Taylor.
Drake has some good moves and nails a spinning step-up enzugiri, followed by a dropkick and a cover for a two count. He tries to get the crowd riled up as he clips Taylor across the head with another enzugiri, and then goes up top and hits a reverse head scissors takedown. Things are looking promising for the youngster until he gets drilled with a back elbow and Taylor pulls his legs and crotches him into the ring post. Now in the driver’s seat, he gives Drake some nasty crossface punches. A scoop and a slam later Taylor goes up the top turnbuckle, and the big elbow drop misses the mark. Drake comes back with a clothesline to a running shooting star for another near fall. He connects with a knee strike on Taylor and once again climbs up the high-rent district. Drake goes for a 450 splash but ends up crashing and burning, and Taylor finally has had enough as the Green Whistles ends it in three.
Your Winner via Pinfall: Alex Taylor
Now for something a little different (and I mean that in every possible way) for the Main Event, we have…
Alex Misery vs. Lev
This is their second matchup, but the stakes are raised as the stipulation for this bout is whoever loses must serve the other.
This probably woulda made sense if Father James Mitchell was involved, but I’m not the booker here.
In any case, this is a more technical wrestling match that has Misery in control. Lev comes back with a boot and whips him to the corner, but Misery backflips and sits cross-legged in front of him. him. A whip to the corner and a clothesline by Misery gives him a near fall. Lev gets him with a slam and then proceeds to run the ropes and nail a succession of elbow drops to the chest but he kicks out and is unable to answer Misery’s unorthodox moves. Those include a springboard spinning neckbreaker and then a leaping enzugiri, but he and Lev go back and forth with heavy artillery. Lev connects with a backbreaker for a two count and signals the end as he attempts a sliding clothesline. Misery ducks and catches him with a crucifix pin for another near fall. The end comes as he delivers the Twist of Misery (F5) to Lev and the ref counts the one, two, and three.
Your Winner via Pinfall: Alex Misery
Lev must now serve Misery, and won’t that be an interesting sight in the weeks ahead?
Aron Stevens talking trash to the Immortals and he proposes they have a six-man tag match, and dares Odinson and Kratos to find anyone that will face him and Blunt Force Trauma.
Now comes the moment when Mason and Idol meet in the PowerrrStation. Kyle Davis acts as the mediator and states he knows a thing or two about repercussions from last time, and this is what took place because this was too awesome to transcribe:
Idol and Mason lock eyes as the show goes to a serenade by Trevor Murdoch and The Milkmen serenade to Daisy Kill and Talos on their chances not looking good as they will challenge them at The Looks That Kill for the NWA Tag Team Titles to close the show.
NWA Powerrr: 01/28/2025
Final Thoughts:
That is how a wrestling show should end; with either a strong Main Event or two men cutting some intense promo work. Mason and Idol have got the latter locked down, and even Davis added a little seasoning as well.
As for the rest of the show, it was very solid overall with great promo work as The Looks That Kill is coming up.
With that, see ya next Tuesday on “X.”
