On the last NWA POWERRR, Kyle Davis was interviewing The Southern Six when “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason took umbrage at his line of questioning. This resulted in a beat down on Davis with Colby Corino attempting to come to the rescue.

If you missed the whole thing, here’s how it went down:

In the main event, Davis steps into the ring for the first time in a long time to wrestle alongside Corino against Mason and Kerry Morton.

We come to you from the PowerrrStation in Tampa, FL. Joe Galli, Billy Corgan, and Danny Dealz have the call and your First Match of the Night is for the…

NWA Television Title Championship: Max the Impaler (c)(with Father James Mitchell) vs. Carson Drake

You can tell the fans have no faith in Drake’s chances as they chant, “Max is gonna kill you!”  As always, this is contested under the Television title rules with a 6:05 time limit, and this is Max’s fifth defense of the belt.

Max listens to Mitchell’s advice as the clock runs down, and Drake wants to lock up.  Drake taps them on the shoulder and Max scares him out of the ring.  Now the “Chicken” chants start up and Drake climbs back in.  He gestures he wants a test of strength and at 3:42, Max wins that test and then bites his hand.  Drake runs for his life and Max is rabid, even going at Mitchell at points, so one wonders if The Sinister Minister has any control left of the Warrior of the Wasteland.  Once Max gets in the ring, Drake stomps away and that just succeeds in making them mad.  Once again, Drake goes full chickens*** and runs.  Max catches Drake and goes to choke him with an extension cord lying around.  Thankfully he gets out before word of this got to Rush’s ears of “gimmick infringement.”  He managed to stun the champ, roll them back in the ring and hammer away.   Drake looks good for a minute with a fist drop until at the 1:06 mark, Max nails him with a spear and follows with a corner splash and throws haymakers at his noggin.  As time ticks away and we get the bell, so that means…

Your Winner via Time Limit Draw:  Max the Impaler

Max notches another win to “Lucky Seven”, even though Drake claims Max can’t beat him and that was proof he was a winner.  He tells Kyle Davis he should change his acronym to “UPS” because he keeps delivering and is undefeated. Max is good but they will never be like CBD, he claims.

Two things:  Drake is really coming into his own through The Power of Douchenozzlery™, and no matter what side of the fence you’re on Max is truly gonna kill this kid at one point.

Submission Match: Jax Dane vs. Zyon

Austin Idol has been banned from ringside, so if just these men, which is the wrestling equivalent of  Godzilla versus Jet Jaguar.  Right away The Dane Event is running roughshod over the masked man as he launches Zyon halfway across the ring with a release suplex.  Dane rushes to the corner and as Zyon sidesteps he hits the ring post, and Zyon follows with a running knee to his temple.  From there he starts picking apart Dane and returns the receipt with a suplex and a cover for a two count.  He continues to work over Dane’s arm so he can’t pop the trunk.  He tries to swing at him but doesn’t have enough force behind it and Zyon catches it in a Fujiwara armbar.  Dane escapes and charges at him again but Zyon counters with a flatliner and gets another count of two.  As he attempts the patented Z Clutch, Dane reverses to a Samoan drop, then pops the trunk and takes Zyon on a one-way trip to Trap City.

Your Winner via Submission:  Jax Dane

Godzilla can rest for now until the next matchup.

We get a Natalia Markova vignette and she claims she can win the big one when it comes to Kenzie Paige and will claim The Burke at Samhain 2.

Big Strong Mims (with BLK Jeez) vs. Soda Pop Hendrix

Fans get quickly behind Soda Pop, and as he offers a hand as a sign of sportsmanship, Mims goes the other direction and gets vicious on offense.  Hendrix tries to fight back to no avail, and Mims rams his back into the top turnbuckle and then slams him in the center of the mat.  Burchill steps out and jaw-jacks at Mims after the way he won the NWA National title.

After that, Mims climbs back in the ring and rushes at the upstart.  Hendrix sidesteps and lands a flurry of offense.  He goes for a crossbody that misses and he lands awkwardly on the mat.  Mims deadlifts him and slams him back in the center of the ring.  He delivers the Heart Punch and that’s all to be said.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Big Strong Mims

Next is a…eh, let’s be charitable and call it a World Tag Team title match between Mike Knox and Trevor Murdoch against Jake Powers (who is channeling Brian Kendrick vibes) and Christian Hunter. Both young men are out of the Funking Conservatory helmed by Dory Funk, Jr., as Galli points out.

As for this match…I hate to do it, but I cannot recap a squash match, so here is a Haiku in Review™:

*ahem*

Knox and Murdoch just

Your Winners and Still NWA World Tag Team Champions:  Mike Knox and Trevor Murdoch

Thanks for playing Powers and Hunter.  See ya soon.

But let’s get to some shenanigans between…

AJ Cazana ( with Joe Cazana) vs. Tommy Rant

This is looking to be the start of a promising feud as AJ slaps the taste outta Rant and he fires back with shots of his own.  Corgan even notes that Rant has similar characteristics to the late, great Balls Mahoney during the match, and I cannot unsee that.

The Bullhead Brute is mean against this Slimeball and he rushes to tackle in the corner but Rant sidesteps.  He rams his arm in the ring post and spills out to the crowd, where he runs to Poppa Joe to pop his arm back in place.  Rant goes to dive and AJ pushes his dad in the way to slow that momentum.  AJ gets back in and he proceeds to stomp a mudhole in Rant all the while favoring the bad wing.  Rant rams his shoulder into the turnbuckle and gains the upper hand with a flying clothesline.  He gets set to finish the job but Joe gets on the apron to distract.  Rant loads up(literally) for a Slimeball Slap but AJ blocks him.  Now Sage Chantz comes out to offer assistance until KC storms out and slams him into the steel steps.  With the numbers game in the Cazanas’ favor, AJ shoves Rant to the ropes where Joe clocks him with the NWA “rule book.”  AJ hits the Dead to Rights spinebuster and that’s all she wrote.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  AJ Cazana

If I wasn’t sold on The Slimeballz before, I am now, and this new direction with The Country Gentlemen as foils is a step in the right direction.

It’s time for the Main Event between…

The Southern Six (Kerry Morton and Silas Mason) vs. Colby Corino and Kyle Davis

After being attacked last week, the broadcaster Davis teams with the second-generation star to seek revenge on The Southern Six.  This is the literal definition of “F*** around and find out.”

Davis comes to the ring in exercise wear and a zip-up hoodie.  As the bell rings, Morton and Corino start, and both men renew their Junior Heavyweight rivalry.  Corino lands with a Kryptonite Krunch for a one count, and chops away at the Future Legend.  A tag to Davis and he and Corino give a double back elbow to Morton as he covers for a two-count.  Moton tries to embarrass the NWA broadcaster and that’s when the hoodie comes off and you see the old Kyle “Durden” Davis cutoff tee underneath, but Davis is now staring daggers at the Southern Six member.  There’s another lockup and they get hot at each other.  Morton knocks Davis down and attempts a fist drop that misses the mark.  Davis fires back but is no match for Morton.  At one point he loses a shoe, and Morton does his Jackie Fargo strut over his prone body.  Now he jaws at Corino and Davis nails an impressive fisherman suplex.  He rushes at Morton in the corner and misses.

He tags in Mason, and you can hear the record scratch as you can see on Davis’ face things are taking a turn for the worse.  He swings for the fences, and Mason catches both of his punches and head-butts him before following with a massive powerbomb and covers for the one, two…Mason lifts him. He ain’t done abusing him.  Davis is still standing his ground at Big Daddy Thrill and gives him a snot rocket before the beating commences.  Corino comes a-charging until the ref establishes control, and when he climbs back between the ropes, Morton trips him up on the outside and gives him a whipping.  Davis is still defiant as he spits at Mason and then goes on a ThrillRide and now Mason finishes it in one, two, and three.

Your Winners via Pinfall:  Kerry Morton and “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason

After the match, The Southern Six are still beating down poor Kyle Davis. Corino jumps in, but the numbers games catch up. Davis goes on another ThrillRide, and Galli steps away at commentary to yell at Mason and Morton and how they’re treating his colleague, much to the consternation of Corgan and Dealz. Now Bryan Idol jumps for the save and the Six bails out of the ring but they are hot, so this will not end well for anyone anytime soon as the credits start to roll.

NWA POWERRR: 11/12/2024

Really good show with a lot of build-up for potential feuds.  Again, I like the direction the NWA is going with The Slimeballz and the Country Gentlemen reversing their face/heel roles.

Davis is to be commended for stepping back into the ring, and this could lead to something else down the road with The Southern Six.  Only time will tell.

Until then, see ya next Tuesday!
