There are several reports circulating that Malakai Black could be finished with AEW or will be soon.
The Wrestling Observer has stated that “the rumor backstage was that the 39-year-old is done with the company.”
On this week’s episode of Dynamite Will Ospreay fought Buddy Murphy. Many suspect Black might be ending his time in AEW due to Ospreay’s promo afterwards which might signal the end of the House of Black as a faction.
Speaking to Murphy, Ospreay said: “Give it up for Buddy Murphy! I have admired you from afar. I have wrestled your best mate and I can tell you this, my friend. I have wrestled you and I have wrestled Brody King. Both of you guys don’t need to be following a leader at all. You guys can get it done on your own.”
Ospreay then shook Buddy’s hand.
Buddy responded with this backstage interview:

Back in 2022, it was reported that Black asked for his release and after his recent match with Adam Cole, Black denied he was leaving. Black’s wife, Zelina Vega, works for WWE.
Black’s last match for AEW was a AEW World Tag Team Title match at AEW Full Gear 2024 featuring Kings of the Black Throne, The Acclaimed and The Outrunners last November.
