The patience of wrestling fans has been tested as the Mildred Burke bio-pic, Queen of the Ring, starring many of today’s current women wrestlers, made its way through various film festivals, without ever showing off a trailer or a release date.
Both were finally revealed today.
It gets wide release on March 7, 2025.
SlamWrestling.net’s Jeremy Housewright saw it on the festival circuit and raved about it in his review: Queen of the Ring a pinfall victory.
The film is partly based on the book The Queen of the Ring by Pulitzer-Prize winning writer Jeff Leen. Jim Ross bought the rights to the book many years ago, and it finally has come to fruition, written for the screen and directed by Ash Avildsen.
Emily Bett-Rickards, best known from Arrow, is the star as Burke, also also features Josh Lucas as wrestler/coach Billy Wolfe, Tyler Posey, Francesca Eastwood as Mae Young, Marie Avgeropolous, Kailey “Kamille” Latimer as June Byers, and Walton Goggins. Fans should keep an eye out of the likes of Jim Cornette, Trinity Fatu, Mickie James and Dr. Britt Baker too.
