No amount of money from any promotion will bring him back to the ring once he has retired, says John Cena.

Cena told Liam Crowley of ComicBook.com: “There isn’t a check writer with enough money to change my mind when I hang it up in December. I don’t want to continue for ego or financial gain. I built a relationship of trust and authenticity over the years with the WWE and that’s people who think I suck and people who believe in me. They know that I shoot them straight and I’m trustworthy. I mean what I say: when I’m done in December, I am done. It is the last time I will perform in a ring,” he said while hyping his latest movie Jackpot.

Cena explained that he remain on as a brand ambassador for the WWE but will not wrestle again, ever.

“You will see me wear this (points to suit), not the wristbands, the jorts, the ball cap. That, in December 2025, that goes away, and that’s the reason why we’re putting so much equity and emphasis on this farewell tour,” he said.

At Money in the Bank 2024 Cena announced that he will begin a farewell tour in January of 2025 and will have his last match in December.

Cena stars in Jackpot alongside Awkwafina and Simu Liu. The movie is described as: “In the near future, a ‘Grand Lottery’ has been newly established in California – the catch: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot.”

It is directed by Paul Feig of The Office, Freaks and Geeks, Ghostbusters and Bridesmaids fame and will be available on Prime Video.
