Wrestling collectors believe in Joe Hendry

Trading cards are a notoriously volatile market. One good game can send an otherwise unknown football player’s rookie card to the moon, or one bad play can have collectors selling low, but this volatility isn’t often seen in the wrestling card market, so when it is, you know it’s for something very unique.

Back in May 2023, I reviewed the latest set of Impact wrestling cards. At the time of release, packs of IMPACT Wrestling 2023 Series 1 were sold for $30 on ShopImpact.com. In my review, I said “this is a well made, great looking alternative to WWE and AEW cards, but unless you’re hunting for holograms, one pack should be enough for most collectors.”

But if you ignored my advice and happened to pick up more than one pack of IMPACT Wrestling 2023 Series 1, I envy you, because this pack included the rookie card of Joe Hendry.

After Hendry made his NXT debut on June 18, 2024, packs of IMPACT Wrestling 2023 Series 1, including Hendry’s rookie card, began reselling for significantly more than the original $30 price tag. On June 19, an opened pack of cards sold for $250. On June 30 and July 2, packs sold for $300. And it’s continued to go up from there.

Most recently, on August 8, 2024, one sealed pack of IMPACT Wrestling 2023 Series 1 sold for $1,100 Canadian dollars (or about $872 USD)! Granted, there’s some other very cool cards in this set of some fantastic wrestlers, but make no mistake about it, the draw is Joe Hendry.

I’ll continue to watch the Joe Hendry card market, as more sales, and more copies of this card, are likely to surface, but in the meantime, it’s clear that wrestling card collectors believe in Joe Hendry.
