AEW Collision

We come to you from the Great Southern Bank Arena In Springfield, MO. Nigel McGuinness, Kevin Kelley, and Tony Schiavone have the call and your First Match of the night is a…

No Disqualification Match: Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Sammy Guevara

The stipulation is that no one from The Don Callis family is at ringside.  Guevara attacks immediately and nails a cutter, and then dumps Hobbs on the outside.  The quickness of Guevara tries to overcome Hobbs’s strength, but he plants him on the steel steps, which follows with, “Let’s go Sammy/Let’s Go Hobbs” chants.  But Hobbs gets the upper hand and grabs Kelly’s belt to whip him further.  Guevara comes back with chair shots to the Powerhouse but he gets dumped to the outside.  Then he pulls out a table and Guevara slides a chair alongside the table and attempts a splash on the apron, but Hobbs drills him through tables on the outside.

During Picture in Picture, Hobbs dumps him back in the ring and gives all sorts of pain to the Spanish God.  Hobbs rushes to a corner and misses, and Guevara connects with the GTH and grabs a monitor to blast him across the head, and goes for another table.  Hobbs clotheslines him and sets up another table, but Guevara superkicks him and goes for a springboard cutter, Hobbs catches him and slams for a two count.  Hobbs sets up two tables on the outside and readies Guevara who shoves him away and breaks a bottle over his head, then climbs a ladder and connects with a swanton to the bottom.

The go back in the ring as fans chant, “This is awesome!”  Guevara sets up another table with Hobbs on it, but then he shoves the ref to the Spanish God and trips him up and Hobbs delivers the World’s Strongest Slam through table ending it.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Powerhouse Hobbs

Mox and Castagnoli promo on their thoughts on FTR and they needs to swim in deep waters.

Now for…

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty

Harwood and Wheeler work on Moriarty, but it isn’t long before Taylor comes in and imposes his will on Harwood.  He backs him up to the  corner and Moriarty gets in but Harwood works him over, but a blind tag gets Taylor in to clobber for a two count, and during Picture in Picture Moriarty hammers away at Harwood and he is in Peril until…

Ads (UGHHHH!!!)

We come back and Taylor has Harwood in a bear hug, and he fights his way out and gets the hot tag to Wheeler who is a Top Guy En Fuego.

He gets the blind tag to Harwood and they deliver a Doomsday Device for the three count.

Your Winners via Pinfall:  FTR

Wheeler gets on the mic after the match, and they have words for the Blackpool Combat Club.   They ain’t scared of them, and they are coming for them at the Revolution PPV. Top Guys, Out.

There’s a vignette on Danielson calling this his “epic year (right use of the word, BTW).

And that leads to…

Thunder Rosa vs. Ladybird Monroe

As Much as I love Rosa, this screams Squash Match, so here’s a Haiku in Review™:

*ahem*

La Mera Mera

Has fire and gives Monroe

A Tijuana Bomb.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Thunder Rosa

Renee Paquette is backstage with Nightingale and Statlander and for some reason Hathaway talks,.  Thankfully its short as Statlander calls out Skye Blue and claims she will beat her ass.

Here’s the match, if you wanna watch:

Your Winners via Pinfall:  The Bang Bang Scissor Gang

Lexy Nair is with Bryan Danielson, and he will be fighting Eddie Kingston’s hero, but he does not respect Kingston. This leads to him explaining howKingston has wasted his potential and how he’ll beat him for the AEW Continental Crown at Revolution.

But next up is…

“The Bounty Hunter” Bryan Keith vs. Malakai Black

Keith outwrestles Black, and he is proving he can overcome the head of the House of Black.   All of a sudden, Black starts to gain ground as he kicks Black to the barricades, and during Picture in Picture, Keith battles away but Black is in control.  Keith is in the driver’s seat until a neckbreaker across the knee gets him a two count.  Black tries to get control until a tornado DDT by Keith almost gets a two count.  Both men go to the heavy ammo, and a double stomp to a pump kick to a finishing knee strike just gets a two count.

Black misses a double stomp and a pop-up powerbomb by Keith garners a two count, but the Black Mass finds the mark for the pin and the win.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Malakai Black

The lights are out and Mark Briscoe appears with a kendo stick and he is swinging for the fences. Brody King and Buddy Matthews even the odds.

There’s a vignette on Allin/Stinng heading into their match with the EVPs, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson before the Revolution PPV.

And we now head to the women’s action with …

Lady Frost vs. Serena Deeb

This is a nice technical bout and Frost outshines The Professor early into the match.  Things are looking good for Frost until

Ads (Sighhh!  Why can’t I have nice things, Lord?)

We come back as Deeb is firing back and gets a clothesline into a single-leg crab for the win.

Your Winner via Submission:  Serena Deeb

Deeb gets on the mic days and says she is waiting to elevate the division for anyone wanting to step into the Professor’s dojo.

Eddie Kingston comes out and is loaded with gold as he makes his way to commentary for the Main Bent between…

“The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Jun Akiyama

The bell rings and each man tries to grapple for an advantage, and Akiyama shows that Fighting Spirit early on.  But Danielson stomps on the knees and leg whips the Japanese legend, and controls the ankle.  Akiyama attempts an armbar, but Danielson escapes for a Muta lock.

Akiyama escapes the American Dragon’s submission.  Then Danielson attempts a dive to the outside and Akiyama catches him and during Picture in Picture, Aliyama keeps on the offense and works over his left arm and then attempts a suplex on the apron but Danielson counters and hits his running knee.

They go back in the ring and he drills the Japanese legend with a missile dropkick for a two count, and then hits a running dropkick, but Akiyama counters with a running clothesline.

Danielson attempts the Lebelle lock but Akiyama gets to the bottom ropes.  Akiyama headbutts Danielson down and connects with a piledriver for a two count.  Both men trade shots to the delight of the fans, but neither gains the advantage.

Akiyama attempts the Wrist Clutch Exploder ’98 but it’s blocked and Danielson ends it with the Busaiku Knee for one, two, and three.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Bryan Danielson

After the match, He shakes hands with Akuyama and then flips off Kingston.  Akiyama sees this and slaps the American Dragon and that brings Kingston into the fray.  Danielson holds his own until Castagnoli gets in and things look more interesting for the Revolution PPV as the show fades to black.

3.5

Final Thoughts:

Great Job with Akiyama/Danielson.   FTR proves they are above and beyond the tag division.

For now, See ya in Seven or Revolution, whichever comes first.
