After last week’s bombshell of EC3 dropping his NWA National title to challenge Tyrus for the Ten Pounds of Gold at NWA 75, the National Wrestling Alliance continues on with more title action on this NWA POWERRR. We’ll see tonight in the main event the NWA Women’s Television champion Kenzie Paige defends the belt against the generational wrestler Samantha Starr.  Also, Matt Cardona has a lot to say after a six-month hiatus.

Once again, we come to you from StudioOne in Highland Park, Il. Joe Galli and Tim Storm have the call, and the First Match getting underway is…

Colby Corino vs Alex Taylor (with Danny Dealz)

This match is mostly for Corino to solidify his claim as the number one contender for the NWA Junior Heavyweight title that Kerry Morton still holds.  But his fellow Southern Six member Taylor wants to ensure that gets stopped before it starts.

The Last Bastion takes Taylor to the mat with a clothesline and a somersault senton.  As he rushes to the corner, The American Gigolo sidesteps away and gives a lungblower to Corino.  He punches him down and follows with a nice snap suplex to cover for a one count.  He lands a (botched) backbreaker to Corino, but still gets another two count.  A uranage by Corino and then a rope-assisted moonsault gets him a two count, and then he hits the ropes only to get tripped up by Taylor.  He follows up with an excellent Guerrero-style springboard senton for a near fall and then he attempts a vertical suplex, but Corino catches him on the head with a knee and comes down into an Ace Crusher dazes Taylor, and that is punctuated by a curb stomp.  Corino keeps on offense with a suplex that transitions midway into a backbreaker combo for just a count of two.  He runs to the corner for a mid-air move, but Taylor scouts it and dropkicks Corino on the way down, and then nails him with a fisherman’s neckbreaker for another two count.  The end comes when Corino hits a jumping knee strike and a short arm clothesline, and that sets him up to deliver Taylor a DDT that ends the match in three.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Colby Corino

NWA World Television Championship: Thom Latimer (c) vs. Mario Pardua (with C-Red)

Pardua is already in the ring and Chicagoan C-Red is apparently there to guide him from the sidelines.    The match is going to be contested under the Television title rules, with a 6:05 time limit.

Latimer is in control early in the match with waistlock takedowns, but Pardua is no slouch either.  Both men are evenly matched but a mistake by Pardua in the corner allows Latimer to catch him and nail the Alabama slam at 3:32.  He follows with stomps to the midsection and then batters Pardua with a series of clotheslines at the 2:50 mark to cover for another two count.  Pardua swings for the fences at the champ and Latimer nails the pop-up powerbomb at 1:54 and transitions to the crossface for the tap-out win.

Your Winner via Submission, and Still NWA Television Champion:  Thom Latimer

May Valentine is backstage with Kenzie and Kylie Paige inquiring about their mindset when they wrestle in the squared circle. Kylie says their chemistry is unmatched and they are “ride or die.” Kenzie herself wants to continue to defend her Television title because she has her sights set on the NWA Women’s champion, Kamille, and promises she will dismantle the Brickhouse in the women’s division.

Daisy Kill and Talos are already in the ring, and the Troubadour of Total Douchenozzlery™ wants to entreat the fans with a song, but this is what fans got on the YouTube channel:

The NWA issues a disclaimer about Daisy Kill on NWA Powerrr

But that leads to the next match, and this is between…

Daisy Kill and Talos vs. Cody James and “Magic Jake Dumas (with CJ)

So, there are a few things to unpack:  Firstly, the team now goes under the name, “Magic, Inc.”  Second, local wrestler James is known as “The Barker.”  But lastly, CJ’s costume has her wearing her wrestling boots and kick pads instead of her usual high-heeled Mary Janes to the ring.  In any case, this match is to determine who will be one of the four tag teams that will be part of the Four team showdown at NWA 75 for the NWA US Tag Team titles.

Talos straightaway overpowers the Magic Bastard, and once he tags in Kill, they both double-team Dumas with a big boot to his chest.  Now James tags in but Kill gets a drop toehold on The Barker and has a brief moment of offense before the tables turn.  Dumas gets back in the ring and eats a spinebuster by Kill.  Meanwhile, James takes the ukelele and Kill runs after it.  He hands the instrument to CJ, and Kill is easily distracted by her until she gives him a forward kick to his sternum.  Definitely a new twist for the magician’s assistant.  For a while, Magic, Inc. is showing glimpses of tag chemistry with double leg drops on Kill for a two count, but he manages to get the hot tag to Talos who runs roughshod on The Barker and the Magic Bastard before delivering a massive chokeslam on James for the definitive pin and the win.

Your Winners via Pinfall:  Daisy Kill and Talos

They are one of the four teams that will be in consideration for NWA US Tag titles

DLZ with Danny Dealz is back with some scoops. He says one of the Paige’s will have a shot at Kamille for The Burke, and Mims will face Blake “Bulletproof” Troop next week. Also, Blunt Force Trauma is announced to face La Rebelión on  Night One of NWA &% for the NWA Tag Team titles, and on Night Two the winner will face the recent winners of The Crockett Cup, Mike Knox and Trevor Murdoch.

Again, this is miles better than “QTV.”  Tell me when I’m telling lies.

May Valentine now has Blunt Force Trauma, along with Aron Stevens and her grudge over the former fiancee has not abated.  She speaks about the recent announcement of the tag title shot by Knox and Murdoch on night two of NWA 75, but Stevens says they are only focused on Night One.  He goes back and mentions it was on night two of NWA 73 when he lost the tag titles and he has since plotted revenge.  and they will lay destruction and decimation on any who stand in their way.

Speaking of destructions, your next match is…

The Fixers, LLC (Jay Bradley and Wrecking Ball Legursky, with Matt Vine) vs. The Spectaculars (Brady Pierce and Rush Freeman)

This is the second of the teams vying for a showdown for the NWA US tag titles, and the former champs make their case known as they knock the Spectaculars out of the ring.  Freeman and Pierce attempt to get back in the driver’s seat, but Legursky is taking them to town.  The Spectaculars manage some offense on the Wrecking Ball with a corner splash and mounted punches up top, but Legursky’s powers out.  Bradley tags in and The Fixers send Pierce face first to Freeman’s…err, little spectaculars.  Freeman is less than spectacular and as Legursky blocks the refs view, Vine gets in the ring and nails a jumping reverse bulldog on Pierce, and the Fixers deliver a  double sandwich slam on Freeman that cements their victory.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  The Fixers, LLC.

Valentine speaks with Vampiro and he’s here for La Rebelión.  He explains he wants to make sure if Bestia 666 and Mecha Wolf are going to do the dark mass, they do it the right way. BFT sounds like a sandwich to Vampiro, and he will guide La Rebelion down that path to victory.

We haven’t seen Matt Cardona for a while in the NWA, and he talks about what’s been going on these last six months, along with An opportunity for anyone at NWA 75.  I’m gonna let the Indy God explain:

Hmm…Cardona is back in the NWA for an Open Challenge at the NWA 75 PPV.  Uhh, yes, please.  I’d like some more.

But it’s time for the Main Event, and that match is for the…

NWA Women’s Television Championship: Kenzie Paige (c) vs. Samantha Starr

This match is also contested under the Television title rules with a 6:05 time limit.  Paige is jaw-jacking at her opponent, and Starr offers a hand and it is slapped away.  Well, that’s been enough talk, as it’s time for…

Wait, that’s another show.

The bell ring and Starr tackles Paige and the third generation wrestler is in control and knocks the champ down.  Now Paige asks for a hand up, and Starr grants it until she gets poked in the eyes.  She kicks her in the corner at 4:31, but Starr reverses and kicks her in the spine followed by her signature head scissors into multiple facebusters to the canvas.  Things look bleak for the TV champ but at the 3:49 mark, she stun guns Starr and pulls at her hair in order to draw out the clock.  Paige tries to end the match but Starr picks her up in a fireman’s carry.  Paige escapes and goes for the sleeper, but gets driven back by Starr into the corner.  Now she unloads with a superkick to Starr at 2:12 left in the match and gets a two count.  She goes again for the Kenzie Cutter, but Starr blocks and lands a Samoan drop to cover for a two count of her own.  Starr calls for the Starrstruck DDT with 1:26 left, but Paige goes for a rollup and gets a two count, and the end comes with the Kenzie Cutter delivered on the challenger with 1:07 in the match for Paige to cover for the one, two, and three.

Your Winner via Pinfall, and Still NWA Women’s Television Champion:  Kenzie Paige

Starr extends a hand after the match, and Paige slaps it away once again and pie faces her as the show goes to the credits.

NWA Powerrr - 07/18/2023
3.5

Final Thoughts:

The NWA is undoubtedly making up lost momentum from The Crockett Cup and adding on matches that will build into the NWA 75 card.  Paige is increasingly improving in the ring, and Cardona issuing an Open Challenge has all kinds of potential.

For now, see ya in seven!
