The first episode of WWE Raw following SummerSlam delivered major fallout from the weekend’s premium live event, as Roman Reigns addressed his victory over Seth Rollins before finding himself confronted by LA Knight.
Elsewhere, Becky Lynch set her sights on Liv Morgan‘s Women’s World Championship, Oba Femi reflected on defeating Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell, and Chad Gable celebrated becoming Intercontinental Champion. The night also featured the Raw debut of Big Cass, who made an immediate impact by attacking Je’Von Evans, while Jacob Fatu prepared to settle unfinished business with Royce Keys in the evening’s main event.
Roman Reigns Opens Raw, LA Knight Issues Challenge
After a video package recapping the biggest moments from both nights of SummerSlam, Roman Reigns made his way to the ring to open the show.
Reigns reminded the Des Moines crowd that he had kept every promise he made, pointing to his Royal Rumble victory, his claim that he would save WWE and, most recently, his victory over Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. He declared that he had owned the summer before encouraging the Iowa crowd to sing Rollins’ entrance music.
Before they could respond, LA Knight interrupted.
Knight congratulated Reigns on defeating Rollins, while taking a shot by claiming he had finally managed to win without The Bloodline’s help. He accused Reigns of avoiding him for months by sending members of The Bloodline after him instead of accepting a one-on-one match.
Knight demanded a singles match without interference, insisting Reigns owed him the opportunity.
Reigns dismissed the challenge, questioning what Knight had done to deserve a World Heavyweight Championship match and telling him to return to the back of the queue instead of complaining.
Knight refused to back down, accusing Reigns of relying on numbers and sneak attacks throughout his reign while insisting he represented everything Reigns wished he could be.
The confrontation ended without a physical altercation as Reigns walked away, leaving Knight standing in the ring.
Je’Von Evans vs. Ethan Page
Je’Von Evans looked to build momentum against Ethan Page in the night’s opening contest.
Evans came flying out of the blocks, catching Page off guard with a roll-up before taking him down with an aerial assault that included a dive to the outside. Page weathered the early storm and took control during the commercial break, targeting Evans with power offence and slowing the pace with a submission.
Evans battled back with a series of strikes before sending Page over the barricade into the timekeeper’s area and following him with another spectacular dive.
Page responded with an over-the-shoulder powerslam for a near fall before attempting to expose the top turnbuckle. The referee caught him in the act, allowing Evans to capitalise on the distraction. Evans leapt over Page before connecting with the OG Cutter to secure the victory.
Winner: Je’Von Evans
The celebration was short-lived.
Big Cass made a surprise appearance, attacking Evans from behind with a big boot before flattening him with a clothesline. Cass then locked in a Bear Hug before finishing the assault with East River Crossing, leaving Evans laid out in the middle of the ring.
Roman Reigns Addresses The Bloodline
Backstage, Roman Reigns confronted Jacob Fatu and The Usos following their defeat at SummerSlam.
Reigns questioned Fatu’s loyalty after hearing Royce Keys described as family, reminding him that The Bloodline should be his only family. When Jimmy Uso suggested dealing with LA Knight, Reigns refused, saying Knight had already had his opportunity and ordering The Bloodline not to touch him.
Elsewhere backstage, Keys insisted that he and Fatu had shared years together on the independent scene and remained family. Fatu rejected the claim, calling Keys “one of the boys” before challenging him to a Street Fight later in the evening.
Sol Ruca vs. Roxanne Perez
Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan headed to the ring alongside Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez.
Morgan declared herself the greatest Women’s World Champion of all time after retaining her title against Iyo Sky at SummerSlam. She praised Rodriguez for winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship before claiming no one was left to challenge her.
Sol Ruca interrupted the celebration for her scheduled match against Roxanne Perez.
Ruca enjoyed early success, showcasing her athleticism and keeping Perez on the defensive before Perez began targeting Ruca’s left arm. The damage mounted throughout the contest as Perez repeatedly attacked the injured limb and neutralised much of Ruca’s offence.
Despite the injury, Ruca rallied after the break and appeared ready to finish the match with the Sol Snatcher.
Rodriguez distracted the referee at ringside, allowing Morgan to trip Ruca before she could hit the move. The interference resulted in the referee calling for the bell.
Winner: Sol Ruca (via disqualification)
Judgment Day continued their attack after the match, with Rodriguez planting Ruca with a Texana Bomb.
Becky Lynch raced to the ring to make the save, immediately setting her sights on Morgan rather than Rodriguez’s newly won championship.
Lynch criticised Morgan’s reign, mocking the fact that she had gone so long without defending the Women’s World Championship on television. She labelled Morgan’s title run the worst in history and accused her of becoming more interested in accompanying Dominik Mysterio than leading the women’s division.
Morgan fired back by telling Lynch she should be at home raising her child before accusing her of jealousy.
Lynch responded with one of the night’s biggest verbal shots, claiming Morgan was not even the greatest women’s champion in Judgment Day or “the greatest one to sleep with Dominik Mysterio.”
Before the confrontation could escalate further, Stephanie Vaquer stormed to the ring. Vaquer attacked Perez and Rodriguez before taking Morgan down with a barrage of punches, ending the segment with a tense stare-down against Lynch.
Oba Femi Reflects On Defeating Brock Lesnar
Paul Heyman was approached backstage by Oba Femi, who thanked him for the role he played in Brock Lesnar’s respectful comments following their Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam. Femi asked Heyman to pass on his appreciation to Lesnar before the two shook hands.
Moments later, Femi addressed the live crowd.
The Ruler reflected on his brutal rivalry with Lesnar, admitting the Hell in a Cell encounter had earned him a new level of respect for the WWE legend.
Femi revealed he had initially believed Lesnar returned because he was jealous after losing to him at WrestleMania 42. Following their trilogy, however, he realised Lesnar had simply wanted to find out whether he had chosen the right man to carry WWE into the future.
Declaring that Lesnar had now passed the torch, Femi promised to lead WWE’s next generation and warned that anyone standing in his way would answer to him.
His celebration was interrupted by The Vision, with Bron Breakker staring him down from the entrance ramp before the next match.
Joe Hendry vs. Bron Breakker
Joe Hendry attempted to use the distraction caused by Breakker watching Oba Femi to gain an advantage, but the strategy quickly backfired.
After exchanging blows early, Hendry briefly gained control by sending Austin Theory into the ring steps and clearing him from ringside.
Breakker recovered almost immediately, cutting Hendry off with a thunderous spear to score a dominant victory.
Winner: Bron Breakker
Following the bell, Theory continued attacking Hendry until Akira Tozawa ran to the ring and chased him away.
Chad Gable Celebrates Intercontinental Championship Victory
Backstage, Big Cass warned Je’Von Evans that he was only the first victim on his list before Chad Gable headed to the ring to celebrate becoming Intercontinental Champion.
Gable thanked the WWE Universe for supporting him throughout his journey, admitting he had never expected anything to be handed to him and had always believed in earning every opportunity.
He also paid tribute to Penta for pushing him to his limit at SummerSlam before the former champion interrupted.
Penta congratulated Gable on his victory, acknowledged that he deserved the championship and offered him a handshake in a show of respect.
The sportsmanlike moment was cut short when Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh interrupted. Dominik proclaimed himself the “King of the Luchadors,” the greatest Mysterio of all time and the AAA Mega Champion, while McDonagh mocked the fans for cheering Gable.
Gable responded by proposing an impromptu tag team match featuring himself and Penta against Dominik and McDonagh, with Dominik immediately accepting.
Chad Gable and Penta vs. Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh
The match quickly developed into a fast-paced showcase between the four competitors, with frequent tags and momentum swings throughout.
Penta dazzled with his trademark offence, while Gable continued to impress following his SummerSlam title victory. Judgment Day repeatedly attempted to isolate Gable before he fought back to bring Penta into the contest.
The closing moments descended into chaos as JD McDonagh broke up an Ankle Lock attempt and Dominik attempted to use a ring bell hammer concealed in his boot. Gable spotted the weapon and handed it to the referee, preventing Dominik from using it.
Although the distraction briefly worked in Judgment Day’s favour, Penta neutralised McDonagh on the outside, allowing Gable to recover and deliver a rolling German suplex to Dominik for the victory.
Winner: Chad Gable and Penta
Bron Breakker Questions Paul Heyman
Following Oba Femi’s passionate address to the WWE Universe, Bron Breakker confronted Paul Heyman backstage.
Breakker made it clear he had no intention of letting Femi’s comments slide, telling Heyman that Femi had crossed the line and deserved to be dealt with.
Heyman encouraged Breakker to act on his feelings, but the conversation quickly became more personal when Breakker demanded to know where Femi was.
Heyman claimed he had no idea, prompting Breakker to sarcastically accuse him of becoming Femi’s newest best friend before storming away.
Street Fight: Jacob Fatu vs. Royce Keys
One of the night’s most personal rivalries reached a violent conclusion as Jacob Fatu and Royce Keys collided in a Street Fight.
The action immediately spilled outside the ring, with both men using the environment to their advantage. Fatu launched Keys into the corner before the fight moved around ringside, where Keys sent Fatu crashing over the steel ring steps and into the barricade.
Weapons soon came into play as Keys introduced several steel chairs and a kendo stick into the match. He repeatedly struck Fatu with the kendo stick before looking to overwhelm him with a barrage of chair shots.
Fatu fought back by taking control of the weapon and returning the punishment, setting up two steel chairs in the middle of the ring. Although he initially attempted to suplex Keys onto them, Keys reversed the move and instead drove Fatu onto the chairs himself for a near fall.
The pace remained relentless.
Fatu answered with a DDT onto the pile of chairs before burying Keys beneath them and using another chair to attack his neck. Keys refused to stay down, responding with a powerslam from the middle rope before following up with a thunderous spinebuster that almost secured victory.
With the match hanging in the balance, Keys charged at Fatu one time too many.
Fatu countered with a Samoan Drop through a table set up in the corner before climbing to the top rope and crushing Keys with a spectacular moonsault.
Rather than attempt another pinfall, Fatu locked in the Tongan Death Grip. Unable to escape, Keys faded, forcing the referee to stop the contest.
Winner: Jacob Fatu
The punishment did not end with the bell.
Despite the referee’s repeated warnings, Fatu refused to release the Tongan Death Grip before finally letting go when officials entered the ring.
Moments later, he attacked again.
Fatu reapplied the submission hold before crushing Keys with two Hip Attacks. He then slid a steel chair around Keys’ neck as Adam Pearce and additional officials desperately tried to restore order.
Ignoring every instruction, Fatu delivered another devastating Hip Attack with the chair wrapped around Keys’ neck, leaving the officials powerless to stop the assault.
As the chaos finally subsided, Roman Reigns’ music echoed around the arena.
The World Heavyweight Champion emerged onto the entrance stage and silently stared down Jacob Fatu from a distance.
Without exchanging words, Reigns raised the One symbol. Fatu responded by doing the same inside the ring, creating another tense moment between the Bloodline leader and one of his most dangerous allies.
Rather than approach the ring, Reigns turned and walked back towards the Gorilla Position.
As he disappeared backstage, he crossed paths with Rey Mysterio in one final tease before Raw went off the air, leaving several potential storylines heading into next week’s show.
