WWE Raw delivered a loaded episode, with major storyline developments across the board, multiple impromptu matches, and a main event confrontation that firmly set the direction for Backlash.
Last night’s WWE Raw opened with a pre-taped segment featuring Roman Reigns alongside Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso. Reigns made it clear that the past was behind them, calling the trio “the first family” and emphasising trust above all else.
The focus quickly shifted to Jacob Fatu, with Reigns questioning his intentions. Jey warned that Fatu was dangerous and capable of taking everything if given the opportunity, while Jimmy acknowledged Fatu’s motivations but insisted it should not come at Reigns’ expense.
Reigns closed by saying he would address the situation later in the night, setting the stage for the main event segment.
Seth Rollins opened the live portion of Raw in the ring, blaming Bron Breakker for derailing his momentum and costing him both the world title and his WrestleMania opportunity.
Breakker, accompanied by Paul Heyman, fired back, accusing Rollins of holding him back while taking all the spotlight. He dismissed Rollins’ mentorship and credited Heyman instead, saying he never needed Rollins to succeed.
Rollins countered by recalling how he personally vouched for Breakker in the past, but questioned his mentality, saying he lacked the mindset required to reach the top. Breakker responded by targeting Rollins’ physical decline, suggesting his body could no longer handle the pressure.
The exchange escalated into a challenge, with Rollins calling for a match at Backlash to prove whether Breakker is truly ready for the next level.
Penta Vs. Rusev
Penta picked up a surprise victory over Rusev in the opening match of the night.
Rusev dominated much of the contest, but Penta avoided a Machka Kick and capitalised with a quick schoolboy pin to secure the win.
Winner: Penta
After the match, Rusev attacked Penta in frustration. Ethan Page attempted to join in, but Rusev showed little interest in forming an alliance. The numbers game eventually caught up to Penta until Je’Von Evans ran out to even the odds and chase the attackers off.
Becky Lynch celebrated her WrestleMania success and declared herself the most accomplished woman in WWE history, even teasing a pursuit of The Undertaker’s Mania record.
Lynch then issued an open challenge, calling for a fresh opponent. Iyo Sky answered to a strong reaction, only to be insulted by Lynch before slapping her across the face.
Adam Pearce quickly made the title match official.
WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Match: Becky Lynch (c) Vs. Iyo Sky
The match delivered a competitive back-and-forth contest, with Sky gaining momentum through high-impact offence, including a powerbomb at ringside and a series of aerial attacks.
Lynch countered with a superplex into a DDT and later a Man-Handle Slam for a nearfall. Sky continued to fight back, hitting a tornado DDT and an Asai moonsault.
The finish came after Asuka interfered, knocking Sky off the ropes. Lynch capitalised immediately with a Man-Handle Slam to retain the title.
Winner: Becky Lynch
Post-match, Asuka attacked Sky and locked in the Asuka Lock, sending a clear message that their rivalry is far from over.
Rey Mysterio Vs. El Grande Americano
Rey Mysterio answered a challenge from El Grande Americano in a match tied to an upcoming mask vs. mask stipulation.
Despite interference attempts and distractions at ringside, Mysterio overcame the odds, hitting a 619 and a springboard splash to secure the victory.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
After the match, tensions continued to escalate as Chad Gable and El Grande Americano brawled, further building towards their upcoming clash.
Joe Hendry officially joined WWE Raw in a musical segment, announcing his signing through song and taking aim at Logan Paul.
Paul interrupted alongside Austin Theory, leading to a confrontation that ended with Hendry fighting them off before being overwhelmed. The Street Profits made the save, and Hendry stood tall with them after clearing the ring.
Oba Femi Vs. Grayson Waller
Oba Femi made quick work of Grayson Waller in an impromptu match.
Femi dominated from the outset, finishing Waller with a Fall From Grace powerbomb.
Winner: Oba Femi
After the match, Femi issued an open challenge, positioning himself as a rising threat on WWE Raw.
The Judgment Day (Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez) Vs. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria
In tag team action, Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez represented The Judgment Day against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
Perez, wrestling in front of her hometown crowd, received strong support throughout. The match featured multiple nearfalls, including Bayley’s Bayley-to-belly and a double-team sequence from Judgment Day.
The finish came after Liv Morgan distracted Bayley at ringside, allowing Perez to hit Pop Rox for the win.
Winners: The Judgment Day
The main event segment saw Roman Reigns return to the ring to a huge reaction, declaring that he made the world title relevant and demanding acknowledgment.
Jacob Fatu interrupted and delivered a passionate promo about his journey, contrasting his struggles with Reigns’ success.
Reigns dismissed him, claiming Fatu had not earned the opportunity and calling the potential match nepotism. The situation quickly escalated physically, with Fatu attacking Reigns and laying him out with a brutal assault.
Fatu held the title over Reigns before dropping it on him, declaring he would take everything.
Reigns, still down, accepted the challenge for Backlash, confirming a major showdown between the two.
Raw closed with clear momentum heading towards Backlash, with Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu now firmly set as a headline feud. Meanwhile, Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker’s rivalry continues to intensify, Becky Lynch remains champion amid growing opposition, and new names like Joe Hendry and Oba Femi are making immediate impacts.
With multiple storylines progressing simultaneously, WWE continues to reshape its landscape in the aftermath of WrestleMania 42.
Next week’s episode of WWE Raw is set to take place at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, and there are currently no matches confirmed for next week’s show.
