The road to WrestleMania 42 intensified on April 6, 2026, as WWE Raw delivered a chaotic and storyline-heavy show from Houston, Texas. With tensions rising across multiple rivalries, several key developments reshaped the card, including a major return, escalating personal feuds, and a closing segment that descended into all-out mayhem.
From the opening moments, it was clear this would be a pivotal episode, with championship stakes, personal grudges, and WrestleMania implications colliding throughout the night.
CM Punk kicked off last night’s show, addressing the Houston crowd with a passionate and pointed promo. Standing tall in the ring, Punk reflected on his history in the city before turning his focus to Roman Reigns.
Punk referenced the attack that saw him driven through the announce desk two weeks ago, using it as fuel for his WrestleMania motivation. With the World Heavyweight Championship placed in front of him, Punk declared that while he may be older, he is far from weak.
Climbing onto the announce desk, Punk delivered one of his most scathing promos in recent weeks, criticising Reigns as a manufactured star and promising to end his reign on the biggest stage of the year. He also turned his attention briefly to Pat McAfee before addressing WWE’s ticket pricing, calling for costs to be lowered so more families could attend WrestleMania.
Backstage, viral personality IShowSpeed found himself in a bizarre encounter with Danhausen as he attempted to get his curse lifted before crossing paths with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. The situation quickly escalated when The Vision recruited IShowSpeed for the night.
That led directly into the evening’s first match.
Austin Theory vs. LA Knight
LA Knight came out to confront the situation, leading to a singles match with Austin Theory.
Knight controlled much of the early action, showcasing his power with a series of impactful moves. However, interference would ultimately decide the outcome. After chaos involving IShowSpeed and Logan Paul spilled into the match, Knight was distracted long enough for Theory to capitalise with a roll-up victory.
Winner: Austin Theory
Following the match, tensions boiled over as Knight and The Usos confronted IShowSpeed. The situation prompted Knight to call out Pearce, leading to an official announcement, a six-man tag team match featuring Knight and The Usos against The Vision and IShowSpeed at WrestleMania 42.
A scheduled appearance involving Finn Balor never got underway, as Dominik Mysterio launched a surprise attack during Balor’s entrance.
Balor briefly fought back, but the numbers game proved too much as JD McDonagh joined in, using a chair to leave Balor laid out.
In a pre-taped backstage segment, AJ Lee sat down for an interview before being interrupted by Becky Lynch.
The confrontation quickly turned tense, with Lynch suggesting Lee once saw her as a replacement, while Lee fired back, reminding Lynch of the groundwork she had laid for future stars. The exchange ended with Lee confidently stating she would see Lynch at WrestleMania, leaving Lynch visibly frustrated.
Bayley vs. Lash Legend
Bayley battled Lash Legend in a physical contest that saw outside chaos play a major role.
Legend dominated stretches of the match with her strength, but interference from multiple competitors, including Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, created a frantic atmosphere.
Despite the distractions, Bayley managed to counter a top-rope attempt into a crossbody for the win, aided by Lyra Valkyria.
Winner: Bayley
Seth Rollins made his first entrance with his signature music down the entrance ramp since his injury six months ago, and addressed his upcoming WrestleMania clash with Gunther, questioning the motivations behind Gunther’s recent attack. He speculated about a potential alliance with Paul Heyman before declaring his intentions to reclaim the World Heavyweight Championship and dismantle The Vision.
Moments later, Gunther struck from behind. The two brawled around ringside, with Gunther gaining the upper hand by sending Rollins crashing over the announce desk before officials intervened.
Backstage, Gunther crossed paths with Heyman, adding further intrigue to their apparent connection.
Penta, Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans vs. Los Americanos (El Grande Americano, Bravo Americano and Rayo Americano)
In six-man tag action, Penta, Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans faced Los Americanos in a high-energy contest.
The match featured fast-paced action throughout, with all competitors showcasing their athleticism. The closing sequence saw Evans deliver his finishing move to secure the victory.
Winners: Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee and Penta
After the match, Rey Mysterio made his return to a strong ovation. He revealed he had secured a spot in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 42, adding himself to an already stacked field.
RHIYO (Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky) vs. B-Fab and Michin
Iyo Sky teamed with Rhea Ripley to take on B-Fab and Michin.
B-Fab tried to blindside Ripley early, but Ripley was quick to react and took control of the match early on. B-Fab was able to get back into control and lay out Ripley with a DDT for a near fall.
After the ad break, B-Fab was in control of Sky until the referee caught Michin getting into the ring illegally, giving Sky the chance to try and make a tag. But as Sky went to tag in Ripley, Jade Cargill pulled Ripley off the ring apron
Despite interference from Cargill, Sky managed to secure the win with a roll-up.
Winners: RHIYO
After the match, Cargill, Michin and B-Fab launched a brutal attack on Sky, with Ripley attempting to fight them off. The segment ended with Sky left laid out as tensions escalated heading into WrestleMania.
Backstage, Stephanie Vaquer blindsided Liv Morgan inside Judgment Day’s clubhouse, adding another layer of chaos to their upcoming Women’s World Title match at WrestleMania.
The show closed with a contract signing segment involving Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, introduced by Adam Pearce and Triple H.
Before any formalities could be completed, Lesnar attacked Femi, triggering a wild brawl. Femi responded by sending Lesnar into the ring post before both men crashed through a table.
Security flooded the ring in an attempt to restore order, but both competitors continued to break free and exchange strikes as the show came to a chaotic end.
