The Super Jr. Tag League tournament got off to a fast and furious start. In the main event though due to spinal canal stenosis and a hernia, El Desperado is out of the tournament with Young Lion Masatora Yasuda teaming with Mistico instead. Doesn’t have the same kind of ring to it, doesn’t it? Yasuda is the son of Mexican luchador Zumbido and was born in Mexico City and raised in Japan.
Naturally, the Young Lion ate the pin as he and Mistico took on Master Wato and KUUKAI, which might not have been the case if Desperado wasn’t out. Kind of sucks for those in attendance that this was the main event of the evening.
KUUKAI holds Yasuda in the Electric Chair position. Wato puts his arms around Yasuda and German Suplexes him for the win.
Mistico holds up the arms of the winners and helps Yasuda to his feet.
The NJPW SUPER Jr. TAG LEAGUE 2026 runs from October 24 to November 3, 2026. Each time will only wrestle five times in the tournament.
