In his final SummerSlam, John Cena saw a ghost…or should I say a Beast reappear from his past: Brock Lesnar.
As Cena prepared to leave the ring after the main event of night two, Lesnar’s music hit!
“Holy s–t!” yelled Michael Cole.
John Cena stood stunned in the middle of the ring.
Things turned serious as Lesnar circled the ring, removed his leather vest and cowboy hat, stood staring at Cena.
An exhausted Cena adjusted his arm band ready for another fight. Lesnar rushed the ring F5-ing Cena in seconds.
Lesnar stomped around the ring staring down at a fallen Cena.
Michael Cole reminded us that Cena has four months left on his contract and it looks like that Lesnar wants to make that a living hell for him.

It was thought that Lesnar was on thin ice with WWE after the allegations made in the on-going Vince McMahon – Janel Grant lawsuit. It seems they have moved beyond that it would appear.
Earlier on, John Cena “passed the torch” to Cody Rhodes who beat him clean in the middle of the ring…well…as clean as one can in a street fight.
Cody rose on a platform wearing a golden skull mask with flames and smoke all around him.
Once Cody’s music stops, the crowd cheers for Cena, who has his original, lively face entrance not the generic, Dollar Store version.
It is time to go to work and Cena is cheered as he runs to the ring. What a great moment.

Cody is booed as the challenger. Imagine that.
Cena jokes around and is smiling as Alicia makes the announcements.
Michael Cole explains that he spoke to Cena earlier and he seems like the old John Cena he has known for years.
John Cena hugs Cody before they start their match then they start throwing hands. Cena tosses Cody to the floor. Cody whips Cena into the ring steps, slamming his head into the ring apron. Cena reverses Cody sending him into the steps.
Cena gives Tyrese Haliburton his “You Can’t See Me” taunt, takes a crutch away from him and uses it on Cody.
Cena pushes a base of one of the steel steps into the ring. Cody counters the AA slamming Cena onto the steps. The crowd boos Cody.
Cody climbs to the top rope. Cena pushes Cody off to the floor. Cena picks up the steps and throws them out of the ring at Cody. Cody grabs his arm afterwards.
A Disaster Kick stuns Cena on the apron. A Russian Leg Sweep by Cody for a two count. Cody powerslams Cena for a two count. Cena backdrops Cody over the top rope to the floor. Cody searches under the ring as does Cena. They come up with steel chairs. It is a steel chair duel. Cena drops his with the impact. Cody kicks Cena’s chair out of the ring. He whacks Cena with his steel chair.
Cody sets up a chair in a corner. Cena throws him into it. Five Knuckle Shuffle time. Cody escapes an AA with clotheslines and punches. The crowd boos him.
Cody Cutter for a two count. Cena drops Cody with an AA out of nowhere. Cody kicks out. Another Disaster Kick for a two count. Another Cody Cutter for a two count. Cody is getting frustrated.
Cena picks up Cody for an Electric Chair Drop for a two count. Cody escapes the AA with a piledriver for a two count.
Wade Barrett explains the banned move can be used in a Street Fight.
The official checks on downed Cena. Cena snaps back up to his feet with an AA. Both men are down. Neither is moving.
A slugfest erupts. Cody is booed each time he lands a punch. Cody catches Cena in a pop-up powerbomb. Cena though slaps on the STFU. Cody grabs the ropes but there is no break as this is a Street Fight.
Cena is sent over the barricade and into the time keeper’s area. Cena pops back up with a microphone. He hits Cody in the head. He spikes Cody with a Canadian Destroyer on the floor. He clears off the Spanish announce table. He puts Cody on the other table. AA off one table and through another. The crowd goes wild.
Cena carries and rolls Cody back into the ring for a two count. Cody sidesteps Cena. Cena crashes into a corner as Cody moves out of the way. Cody hits Cross Rhodes for a two count. Cody is ticked off.
Cody hoists Cena onto the top rope. Cena powers out. He head butts Cody down. Flying Legdrop to the back of the neck. AA for another two count. Cena cannot believe it.
Cena throws a chair out of the way and pulls a table out from under the ring. He slides it into the ring. Cena sets it up. Cody backs into Cena. Cody pushes the table over DDTing Cena for another two count.
Cody leans the table in a corner. Cody grabs Cena out of the ring heaving him over the barricade into the crowd. Cody is slung into a barricade. Cody throws a garbage can which Cena catches. Cena picks up a barricade ramming it into Cody…twice. Cena leans the barricade up against the stage. Cody reverses things suplexing Cena into the barricade.
They fight/walk under the massive stage. Lights turn on where Cody emerged from the stage earlier. Cena rises up with Cody on his shoulders. Cena gives Cody an AA on the ramp of the stage.
Cena carries Cody back to the ring and dumps him in. The crowd cheers Cena’s efforts. Cody catches Cena coming into the ring. He throws Cena through the table he has set up in a corner. Cross Rhodes…for a two count.
Cody clocks Cena in the face with a steel chair. Cody fiddles with the cables holding the ring together. The bottom ropes are loose. Cody takes the steel bar of the turnbuckle hitting Cena in the head. The crowd really gives it to Cody. Cody hesitates but bashes Cena in the head again. The crowd showers Cody with boos.
Cody throws his hands up as if to say…What am I supposed to do?

Cody swings. Cena takes him down with an STF with the bottom rope. Cody flips things strangling Cena with the rope. Cody escapes the AA and lands three consecutive Cross Rhodes.
CENA KICKS OUT?!!?!?!
Cody wanders around the floor before picking up the championship belt. Cody enters the ring belt in hand. Cody swings and missed. Cena delivers two AAs, puts Cody on the top rope and hits an Avalanche AA.
CODY KICKS OUT?!!?!?!
Cena slides out of the ring and he pulls out another table. Cena sets up the table in the middle of the ring. Cena hoists Cody back onto the top rope. Cody elbows out of an Avalance DDT. Cody Cutter through the table. Cena collapses into the ropes. Cody salutes Cena. Cross Rhodes for a three count.
Cena and Rhodes hugged after the match. Cody could be seen crying as Cena spoke to him.
Cody dragged Cena to the middle of the ring and raised HIS hand. Cody walked away letting Cena celebrate his final SummerSlam appearance with the crowd.
The crowd chanted: Thank you, Cena!…before Lesnar made his appearance.
The Rhodes and Cena match wasn’t the only one that really pushed the threshold of plausibility with talent being battered and beaten beyond belief but still kicking out, surviving. After awhile, it all became a bit much. While the matches were all still really well worked, the booking at times was so far over the top you’d think Vince Russo came out of retirement.
SummerSlam 2025 Night Two Results
HHH, makes his way to the ring to welcome everyone to SummerSlam. People sing along with Lemmy. He informs everyone that they are part of the biggest SummerSlam ever and they ain’t seen nothing yet.
“Are you reeeeeeady? Welcome to the biggest SummerSlam in history,” he says.
Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky – Triple Threat, Women’s World Championship Match
Rhea is out first and she is almost skipping as she smiles and waves her way to the ring. Man, what happened to the “Bad Ass”?
Iyo still stumbles down to the ring like she is drunk or something? What’s up with that?
In a VERY cool moment, Naomi’s Dad (Shawn McCray) plays her to the ring on guitar sounding like Hendrix. Awesome entrance.
Can Iyo and Ripley top their Match of the Year candidate from Evolution? We shall see.
Naomi ducks out of the ring as soon as the bell sounds. Rhea and Iyo stand waiting for her. Rhea and Iyo block her on the floor. Back in the ring, ping-pong Naomi back and forth until Rhea clocks Iyo by mistake. Naomi dumps Rhea to the floor after hitting her and Iyo with a flying body splash. She leaves Iyo draped over the top rope kicking her in the head. Naomi bites Rhea’s hand dumping her off the apron.
The crowd starts cheering: Let’s go Rhea!
Naomi batters Rhea head off the apron and gets a two count after Blockbuster from the top rope. Naomi is indeed ruling the ring.
Rhea clotheslines, kicks Naomi down as Iyo lands a missile drop kick. 619 from Iyo and a release German Suplex leaves them in the middle of the ring. Iyo kicks out of an electric chair slam. Iyo turns a Riptide into a roll-up for two.
Rhea attempts an electric chair again. Iyo flips that and Rhea with a Poison Rana. Naomi dives in to make the save. Naomi pulls Rhea out of the ring as she slams Iyo with a Razor’s Edge and a powerbomb. Rhea throws Naomi into the steps. Iyo springboard moonsaults onto them both as they brawl.
Iyo runs back and forth nailing Naomi and Rhea with Bullet Train attacks. Iyo climbs to the top rope. Rhea pushes her into the steel post. Iyo and Naomi trade splashes on Rhea. Naomi and Iyo trade haymakers. Naomi catches her with a running knee off the ropes. Iyo stops Rhea from winning with a Rip Tide on Naomi.
Rhea and Iyo trade punches while on their knees. Iyo ducks, Rhea boots Naomi off the apron. Rhea clocks Iyo with a kick then cannonballs Naomi on the floor. Iyo powerbombs Rhea on top of Naomi on the floor.
Rhea Rip Tides Iyo from the top rope. Naomi dives in pinning Ripley with a handful of tights from behind.
Winner: …and still Women’s World Champion, Naomi at 16 minutes and 23 seconds.

It is the 25th anniversary of the first TLC match at SummerSlam. The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz are in attendance and celebrating.
I have a feeling this insane action is going to be too crazy to call so…bullet points it is.
Let’s call this what it is. The Wyatt Sicks Revival Project…without most of the members doing very much at all, such as their leader.
Why does Andrade come out with the mask and then just immediately remove it? I don’t get that. The mask is pretty intimidating. He looks like Black Mask from Batman or something. He should take it off during the match or something.
All of the teams line-up against and attack The Wyatt Sicks.
Sabin leaps through the ropes knocking DYI into a ladder on the floor.
Fraxiom double drop kick a ladder into the MCM.
The Street Profits lean a ladder against the ropes. They try to back drop Gacey on the ladder. He misses it completely. They rewind things and put Gacey through the ladder the second time.
Fenix rushes at Andrade. Andrade lifts him, shoot him up almost high enough to reach the belts.
DYI throw Ford over the top rope onto everyone on the floor.
Gacey gets missile drop kicked and DDTed through a steel chair by the MCM.
Table-Spot-Mania! Gargano DDTs Gacey off the apron and through a table. Lumis leaps off the top rope onto Montez putting him through a table. Fenix splashes Fraser through a table from the top rope. Axiom gives Dawkins a Spanish Fly off the top rope through a table on the floor.
Candace LeRae comes done to the ring. She tries to climb a ladder and swipe the belts. B-Fab stops her. Nikki Cross suplexes Fab off the ladder. Gargano holds the ladder still for his wife. Ciampa runs into Gargano by accident. He hits the ladder knocking it over. LeRae crashes through a ladder. Ouch!
Erik Rowan decides to enter the fray. He attacks anything that moves. The Profits batter him with steel chairs. Rowan gets back up. The Profits spear him through a table in a corner.
MCM take away the ladder from Ciampa. He is left hanging onto the titles. Fraser leaps off the top rope but Ciampa uses the belts to do a curl, headstand-like move to flip upside down so Fraser completely misses him.
Uncle Howdy interferes tipping over ladders and sending victims through tables below. Andrade gives Howdy a sunset powerbomb off a ladder and through a ladder below.
The Wyatts are able to climb the ladder and unhook the titles. The crowd boos them.

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria – No Disqualification, No Countout Last Chance, WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match
This is one of those matches that really stretches into the realm of impossibility with both women kicking out of everything and anything to the point it becomes ridiculous but…
Becky’s new entrance claims, hysterically, that she has been “held down by the man”. Yer kidding right?
It is a slugfest to start. Why not just enter the ring with a steel chair and start beating the stuffing out of your foe? There is no NQ.
Becky slams Lyra’s face off the announce table over and over again. Becky pulls out a kendo stick from under the ring. Lyra pulls out a crow bar. Becky is tenative. Lyra’s crowbar smashes Lynch’s kendo stick away. Lyra misses with the crowbar.
Lynch in surprise: You tried to kill me!
Lyra chops Lynch around ringside and throws her accidentally into a cameraman. Lyra checks on his afterwards. Lyra bounces Lynch off a steel post and over the announce table. Lyra drop kicks Lynch out of the announce chair she is recovering in. Lyra pulls a table out from under the ring.
Becky chokes Lyra from behind with a steel chain. She puts the chain in Lyra’s mouth and pulls back around a steel post. Back in the middle of the ring, Lynch whips Lyra with a kendo stick.
Lynch borrows a page from Happy Gilmore as she swings with the kendo stick. Lynch retrieves a toolbox from under ring as well as a steel chair. Lynch bashes a chair over Lyra’s back. Lynch brains Lyra with the toolbox right in the head. Lyra can barely defend herself.
Lynch pulls out a zip tie. She handcuffs Lyra. Lynch hits Lyra in the ribs over and over with a huge wrench. Lynch splashes Lyra with the wrench in hand. Lyra is suplexed on a steel chair twice. Lyra rolls to the floor.
Lyra is hung up on the steel post by her wrists. Lynch whips Lyra with a kendo stick as she just hangs there. Lynch gets a two count with a leg drop from the top rope.
Lyra wraps her arms around Lynch head butting her over and over. She belly-to-belly suplexes Lynch. Lyra fights back with kicks. She leaps off steel chairs with a missile drop kick. She gets a two count with a no-hands moonsault.
Lyra bounces Lynch’s head off steel chairs. Despite her hands being tied, she unties a turnbuckle pad. Lynch whips her into a steel post. Lyra falls to the floor and Lynch cannot find her. She looks under the ring. Lyra sprays a fire extinguisher into Lynch’s face. Lyra removes the zip tie and chases Lynch around the ring with a kendo stick. Fisherman’s Suplex. Lynch kicks out at two.
Lyra kicks a steel chair into Lynch’s face. Lyra drills Lynch with Nightwing off the steel steps onto the arena floor. Lynch covers her mouth but we know she is saying something to Lyra, giving her instructions as they lay on the ground together.
Lyra is whipped face-first into the turnbuckle she exposed and is Man Handle Slammed though two chairs. She kicks out. The crowd starts to boo a bit here and there. Lynch puts Lyra’s head through a steel chair. She is smashed into the barricade. Lynch swings Lyra and the chair into a steel post and jumps off the announce table with a stomp. Lyra looks like she is knocked out. Lynch picks up the crowbar.
Bayley stops Lynch from braining Lyra with the crowbar. Lynch reminds Bayley what Lyra did to her. She encourages her to hit Lyra. Bayley stops Lynch from using a steel chair. She throws her into the ringside barricade but misses a running knee and goes flying into the crowd. Lyra appears out of nowhere putting Lynch through a table with a leg drop. Bayley leaps onto the apron with the steel chain wrapped around her first. She swings at Lynch but clocks Lyra instead. Lynch pins Lyra with a Man Handle Slam.
Winner: …and still WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch at 25 minutes and 23 seconds.

Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu – Steel Cage match for the WWE United States Championship
Solo, the champion, comes out first. He is wearing gladiator-ish trunks. Fatu is wearing a werewolf mask as he makes his entrance.
Solo jaw jacks with Fatu before punching him in the face. Solo runs at Fatu and gets clotheslined. Fatu mounts Solo in the corner headbutting him like eight times. A corkscrew elbows knocks Solo senseless. Solo backdrops Fatu into the steel cage. Solo splashes him into the cage twice from across the ring.
“I gave you everything!” yells Solo in Fatu’s face before throwing him into the cage and blasting him with a hip attack.
Solo calls for the door. Fatu grabs him by the leg. Fatu ducks a spike following up with a super kick. Fatu wins a slugfest. Fatu bounces Solo off the cage again and again. Solo reverses. Fatu hits the cage and no sells the attack. Fatu lands his moonsault twice. Solo kicks out.
The Tongas arrive but so does Jimmy Uso. Tala kicks him in the face and throws him into the cage, announce table. The crowd calls for the OTC.
Fatu reaches the door and demands it is locked. Fatu turns around for a Somoan Spike. He kicks out though. Solo climbs the cage. Fatu gives chase. Solo is dragged backed in. Talla Tonga handcuffs Fatu to the top of the steel cage.
JC holds the door open for Solo. Jacob breaks the cuff. He kicks the door into JC’s head. Talla kicks the door into Jacob and Solo’s head. Jacob falls to the floor and wins.
Winner: …and still WWE United States Champion, Solo Sikoa at 12 minutes 44 seconds.

Jimmy kicks JC in the face. He is then driven into the cage. Jimmy locks JC in the cage with Fatu. Fatu takes out his anger on Loa and JC. Fatu moonsaults from the top of the cage onto Loa and JC.

Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles – WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Styles drives out in a low-rider with his son honoring Eddie Guerrero. Styles is wearing the same gear that Eddie wore when he fought Rey all those years ago for the custody of Dominik. Hilarious that!
The bell rings. AJ clocks Dom in the face knocking him clear out of the ring. A backbreaker has Dom stumbling around. Dom gets Atomic Dropped and clotheslined over the top rope. Dom takes control drop kicking AJ out of the ring. Dom splashes AJ on the floor from the top rope.
The crowd is divided over who they are cheering for. A Tornado DDT spikes Dom in the middle of the ring.
The crowd begins waving their phones. Fireflies? I don’t know why.
Dom executes the Three Amigos but AJ halts it with a brain buster. Dom puts his knees up as AJ goes for an Eddie Guerrero frog splash. 619 and a frog splash but AJ catches Dom in a Calf Crusher.
AJ charges in. Dom sidesteps. AJ hits the buckle. Dom is caught removing a turnbuckle pad. Dom brings a steel chair into the ring. Dom hits the mat with it and falls down after throwing the chair into AJ’s hands. AJ puts the chair around his neck and falls down too. The official is not sure what happened. He lets the match go on.
The crowd chants Eddie! Eddie!
AJ Styles has the Calf Crusher on but Dom’s boot comes off. in a nod to Eddie’s shenanigans against Kurt Angle all those years ago. The official ducks AJ charges in. Dom brains AJ with the boot as the official is distracted. He pins AJ with a Frog Splash.
Winner: …and still WWE Intercontinental Champion, Dominik Mysterio.
