Motor City Machine Guns celebrate their one year debut, winning gold after being present within the company for two weeks and sending out an endearing message about not giving up on one’s dreams because with heard work and dedication, you can achieve anything. I want to become a renowned novelist, and I will make it happen because I can do it.
After his loss to Seth Rollins at Crown Jewels, like I predicted, Cody Rhodes looks forward to Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he eagerly awaits for his number one contender to be officiated later tonight between Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre
Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Sol Ruca & Zaria of NXT – Women’s Tag Team Championship match
Since Sol and Zaria wanted to expand their prowess to the blue brand, so here they are, in a match with the champs for their titles. When Ruca leaped in after her partner was heavily lacerated by Charlotte, she delivered an effective German suplex from the corner. Just as Flair had Sol trapped in a Boston Crab, I beg to differ from commentary’s… well, comment, that it was cinched tight. Sol was able to get out of there with ease that nearly awarded her team the victory. Ruca did empress with the Snatcher.
Bliss interrupted the count, which encouraged Zaria to appear from nowhere, and slug her onto the outside. Alexa was looking for the Hurricane Rana, but she got caught by Zaria and tossed into the barricade. Charlotte came in and bulldozed Zaria to the ground with her boot. From behind, Sol did a backflip onto Charlotte just as she shoved Alexa out of the way.
Instead of concentrating on the current task, Ruca spotted Blake Monroe in the front row cheering them on. As of now, I’m not aware of what’s going on at NXT with these ladies, so I can’t really speak about that beef. Regardless, Ruca should have kept her eye on the prize. While she’s seen yelling at Monroe, Flair charged at her from the rear and chopped her leg.
That limb came to be a sore point for Sol as Charlotte performed the Figure 8 that forced Ruca to tap out… much to Blake’s delight as she cacked onscreen.
Winners: Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair
Now, the part of the evening I’ve been waiting for. To my surprise, I didn’t know that Zelina Vega was MARRIED to Aleister Black. That was a good kind of shock, I saw… something else. Ha! With that in mind, I’m really going to enjoy this darker take on Vega’s character teaming with Black’s already somber aura. What I’m worried about is that I don’t want this to feel half-baked, similar to what Karrion Kross, Scarlett and the rest of Final Testament were trying to do. To welcome darkness and utilize it to its full potential. Vega and Black are making themselves known as the “necessary evil” that SmackDown needs.
Up next, our US Champion, Sami Zayn, issued an open challenge, to which, I think The Miz answered… angrily. He didn’t like how people would put the belt up like it was a charity case. Miz barely finished his thoughts when comeuppance came in the form of his ex-friend and tag partner, Carmelo Hayes. I knew he would have had enough at some point. It was only a matter of time… like The Vision dispersing.
Sami Zayn (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov – US Championship match
To see Dragunov again, I can’t say I’m not over the moon with joy. I momentarily forgot why he was gone in the first place until I glanced down at his right leg. He hurt himself in the last match I saw him in. Against who? I don’t remember. Ha! But he came back better regardless of it, but not before getting his shoulder mangled by the middle rope.
Zayn slapped Dragunov in the chest to allow himself to catch his breath, yet Ilja got right back up with ease as he superplexed the champ from the top. He was looking for the H-Bomb, but Sami countered with a boot. The Champion did well, binding his time to go for a second Helluva Kick since the first one nearly got him pinned.
Sami got distracted by Solo Sikoa’s sudden appearance at the entryway. I’m not sure what he was planning, but Sikoa left shortly after. Zayn turned around and almost paid the price, instead he managed to deliver an Exploder. Thinking he had this match done, Ilja rebounded with Torpedo Moscow, then a successful H-Bomb to be the new US Champion.
Following the match, Sami wanted to congratulate Ilja. Knowingly so, it was bombarded by the Bloodline, or MFTs as they like to call themselves. Tragic. All I heard was that Tama Tonga was back, and they were all wearing face paint. I genuinely thought I saw Ghostface… it wasn’t. It was, in fact, Tama’s beard.
Rey Fenix rushed out to help and was slammed on the mat by Tolla Tonga for all its worth, which was minimal. Sikoa made it clear that he wants to bring gold back to his family that the blue brand so rudely sidestepped. But nothing is scarier than Bo Dallas’ Uncle Howdy. The Wyatt Sicks stood not too far from the MFTs to incite intimidation. As this is happening, Tama felt the need to behave like a hyena again. I kind of missed his “Ye-haw, ye-haw, ye-haw,” Solo felt how deranged these individuals are, so he ordered the rest of the group to back off.
Winner: Ilja Dragunov
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Los Garza – Tag Team match
Alex Shelley was in desperate need of a tag and once he made one, Chris Sabin did his best to swat out the opposition. Los Garza made a comeback with a powerbomb to Sabin by Humberto for a near fall. That didn’t work, so Angel and Berto go for a modified Gory Special, but Shelley speared Angel into a pile with the others to break the count.
Alex attempted a baseball slide, he missed due to Angel’s speed, then he got caught upside down as Angel kicked him in the jaw. And he got kicked in return by Sabin, so Humberto body crashed on top of them.
The match was moving in their favor, but it quickly deteriorated once the Machine Guns fought through and performed a winning Skull and Bone.
Winners: Motor City Machine Guns
I’ve seen a lot of instances that involved brutality, the best kind of violence, but one that didn’t need to happen was when we witnessed Jacob Fatu spitting out blood, his literal teeth on the floor, and he was crushed by some metallic shelves. And to add insult to injury, McIntyre’s music started playing. Everyone would obviously jump to the conclusion that Drew was responsible, but I prefer to wait until the culprit admits their deeds. Speculation isn’t enough.
Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre
Although McIntyre rejected the possibility that he’s the guilty party, Rhodes didn’t believe him and got angry that Drew ruined what could have been a spectacular number one contender’s match. As a result, he issued an impromptu title fight with the Scottish Warrior. The boys engaged in a brawl around the ring and into the crowd before being whipped inside the squared circle. McIntyre made sure to toss the Champion all over the place to truly hurt him.
Rhodes’ suit was tearing apart, regardless, he fought back with a Cody Cutter. Unfortunately for that momentum, Drew turned everything around in a matter of seconds. Cody was sent into the timekeeper’s area, no one knew at that moment, but he grabbed his title belt and used it against McIntyre.
Of course, that didn’t stop the anarchy from continuing. Cody was looking for Crossroads on the commentary table. Annoyingly so, that didn’t happen because more officials showed up. However… Rhodes ran on the edge of the ring, climbed to the top and body splashed McIntyre nonetheless.
Winner: No one
