Here comes the fallout of Money in the Bank where Sami Zayn proudly admitted that everyone who participated in the Ladder match got what they deserved. I must confess, I genuinely laughed out of excitement because he was right. Nevertheless, Trick Williams didn’t take too kindly to being called a “vulture”, or an afterthought by Zayn.
You could always count on Williams to come up with insultingly hilarious nicknames for Sami. “Gingervitis” is what Trick called Zayn. It took a while for me to stop laughing because it caught me off guard. Williams made the case that every time Sami sees him, the audience is ready to boo him, the memory of Backlash and WrestleMania pops up, too. The thought that Williams is a “real superstar” entered the conversation.
Sami countered that pretty hard when he said that Trick treats everything as a joke rather than the warning it was intended to be. He can’t differentiate according to Zayn. Johnny Gargano swooped in to spit some words of his own only to end up in a match versus Williams.
The wildcard was watching Candice LeRae while also taking care of Gargano was Williams’ task. Johnny managed to deliver a Dragonscrew while Trick’s attention was elsewhere. Exactly my point. A massively painful suicide dive from Johnny completely floored Trick towards the commentary table. Later on, Williams face planted Gargano as his left knee tweaked a little bit.
Johnny caught Trick with a forearm punch, plus a step-up enzuguri. Williams answered with a pump kick that nearly decapitated Gargano. As a comeback, Johnny tricked Trick by going for his injured knee instead of his face when Williams shielded himself, then Gargano kicked his opponent in the jaw. A big tornado DDT almost took Williams out.
Just when Sami thought Johnny was winning, a slight detour cost him, which led to a failed slingshot that was overwhelmed by a Trickshot. Williams added the final exclamation point with a choke slam.
Due to Blake Monroe’s altercations with Giulia, Nick Aldis made the decision to have them engage in a Street Fight coming soon. Chelsea Green gave Nikki Bella a title shot for next week, but Bella pushed it back to two weeks instead since she’ll be doing Hall of Famer duties.
Aldis went to check on Kevin Owens in the infirmary, who reaffirmed his delight over CM Punk being unable to retrieve the briefcase. Priceless. And right on time, the man showed up. Nick was successful in his peaceful negotiations, so a match between Owens and Punk will happen.
During Nikki and Paige’s match, Bella fell right in-between the ring and the drape around it, so Paige could hammer a couple of punches to her back. Nikki was resourceful when she grabbed Paige’s arm and very closely ripped it off. That was scary. Paige was going for the Paigeturner, was momentarily sidetracked, and recovered with a belly-to-back suplex.
Rudely, Paige attempted to add a truckload of salt into Nikki’s wound with the Five Knuckle Shuffle. It failed when Nikki viciously admitted the STF to the point of breaking Paige’s limbs. It took a bit, but Paige was able to reach the bottom rope. The FKS backfired, yet Paige was triumphant with the AA. Whatever Nikki was planning on doing, she wasted her own time by trying to illicit some cheering for the fans. Paige took advantage with a roll up with her foot on the rope to apply pressure and win.
The new Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley were in the ring as Paxley thanked Charlotte Flair for allowing her to compete with Bliss. Fatal Influence arrived enraged. Jacy Jayne claimed that Tiffany Stratton stole the Money in the Bank contract from under her, while Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid tried to apply reason by pointing that Charlotte doesn’t give a damn about them. A brawl ensued where Alexa and Tatum got the best of their haters.
The funniest part of the fight between Ricky Saints and Rey Fenix is when Ricky shoved the referee into the ropes, so Rey could lose his footing. Because of that, Saints was able to perform the Rochambeau that could have won this match if Charles Robinson hadn’t refused to count. Saints kept getting in Robinson’s face, so he decided to call the match off. Ha! Fenix retained his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship by disqualification. Ricky was pissed that he delivered another Rochambeau to Rey.
As we pull down the curtains for the evening, Cody Rhodes was in the ring waiting for a face-to-face he was promised with Randy Orton. Instead, he got Baron Corbin. Some people are brutally honest, and some only deliver half the truth to avoid looking bad, or worse, evil. Baron was the first one. He didn’t understand what fans saw in him that he told Rhodes that he didn’t see it then, and he sure as hell doesn’t see it now.
If everyone had that killer instinct used at the snap of a finger, the whole world would be engulfed in flames. We need people who aren’t willing to cause needless chaos and know how to think. It truly is fine not to rely on that killer mentality as your first, second, or third course of action. But since it’s coming out of the mouth of very arrogant individuals, it’s not my fault that you listen, Cody.
An impromptu fight had started, but the most important detail was Randy Orton’s sudden arrival to play with Cody’s head. The bell rang and all mattered not. I envisioned that getting putted would be much more disfiguring. Orton dodged a bullet, but Corbin wasn’t so lucky. Maybe I just wanted blood like the combative fan I am, and I didn’t get that.
Boo…
