Ha! Wow. I didn’t expect things to get worse between Aldis and Gunther to the point where Nick is willing to return to the ring to face this man, whom, I’m sure, he’s agreed with the monikers of “Ring General” to “Legend Killer”. It sells tickets.
Aldis made the countermove of mentioning that it’s Gunther who wants him to believe in the descriptive words that have been spoken on repeat, due to the fact that Gunther can’t get out of this situation knowing he didn’t want it to go this far. Nick came to conclusion that he figured Gunther out very well.
Seeing an official throw hands will definitely be the highlight of SummerSlam. Aldis had some leverage over Gunther until that low-blow to his crutch. Oof…
I’m hoping that Chelsea Green vining to become interim WWE Women’s Champion will provide her with some enlightenment as to who she is as a title holder, not how she was previously. Going up against Kiana James was a start. Yes, James delivered numerous knee strikes to the gut, a painful kick to the face, plus a Broken Arrow, but Green was able to advance with I’m Prettier. She joined Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill. There are two spots remaining.
After Saturday Night’s Main Event and losing their Tag Team Championships to Fatal Influence, Brie Bella and Laney Reid have involved themselves in a match. Brie caught Lainey with a bulldog after being momentarily subdued in the corner. Fallon Henley attempted an interception and was quickly repelled by Brie, however, that was only a pretext to allow Lainey time to recuperate.
Now it was Jacy Jayne’s turn to get involved, so Paige took her out. Lainey nearly got away with using the ropes to apply extra pressure to her pin, luckily, the referee noticed that. Brie flipped Reid over and won. Of course, that angered the rest of Fatal Influence into attacking their adversities. That resulted in Nikki returning from a foot injury and issue a 6-Women Tag Team match for SummerSlam.
I read a comment that suspect the Bella twins will betray Paige after this pending match. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened.
Before someone feels the need to come for my throat for not adding this, but the back and forth between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes did not thrill me enough to even bother indulging in its existence. Rhodes victimizes himself, and Punk is incredibly self-absorbed that way too many people would find that valid because he’s good in the ring, but his mouth shouldn’t have rose-tinted lenses in front of them. Regardless of how I felt about that interaction, they’re still meeting in a title fight.
That powerbomb from Charlotte Flair was very impressive since not everyone has been capable of carrying Nia Jax on their shoulders like that, but it wasn’t sufficient. Behind the official’s back, Michin and B-Fab attempted to flatten Flair, yet she beat them to it.
Nia was looking for the Samoan Drop, got kicked out of the ring, then Jade came in and caused a disqualification by punching Flair, but she still won. Ha! Never mind that, then… Jax was bamboozled again!
Finn Balor vs. Trick Williams vs. Royce Keys vs. Damian Priest – Fatal 4-Way match
During a typical male stand-off between Damian and Finn, Royce bulldozed right through that like he didn’t care. That got the ball rolling real quick. Trick got whipped, too. It obviously didn’t take long for Keys to topple everyone. Whoever wins this match will face Sami Zayn at SummerSlam to become the number one contender for a title shot.
After Priest neutralized Keys on one end, he tried to take out Williams near the commentary table only to be shoved onto the desk. Inside the ring, Finn came close to pinning Trick and failed. Williams’ delayed vertical suplex was perfectly executed. Balor didn’t stay down, though. It would have been over for Finn if Damian had succeeded with that Razor’s Edge, fortunately, he countered with a double stomp.
I think, despise the predictable onslaught one will endure, Balor has been doing fantastically. He fell victim to a Top Choice Royce, Williams saved him to save himself, but great nonetheless. Trick and Finn were down breathlessly while Damian was dealing with Keys. A temporary alliance between Finn and Damian to upheave Royce from the top worked well.
We’ll have to hit pause on that as LA Knight and Solo Sikoa are brawling with the Uso twins pending their upcoming match. Wow. I took a break and a full-blown nonsense erupted behind my back like a volcano. Anyway, Finn delivered a Slingblade to Williams after Damian leaped out, then opted back in to cause an interception.
Royce nailed Priest with a spinebuster, however, Jacob Fatu pulled him out of the cover that might have awarded him the victory, so they could brawl, too. Nevertheless, Finn managed to pin Damian in-ring. I’m proud of him!
All those sneak attacks from Baron Corbin finally snapped Williams’ nerve, so he called Corbin a b*tch and challenged him at SummerSlam. Whether it’s for the title, I don’t know. They didn’t make that clear.
