After the spectacular two-night SummerSlam event we had, John Cena opened up the evening admitting to his insecurities and slight shame over who he’s been for the past five months, and I applaud him for seeing the errors of his ways. I just hoped that the audience would see theirs. He only started acting like that because of the fans. I still believe he spoke a lot of truth.
Anyway, Brock Lesnar is back! I was just as shocked and happy as everyone else. Not about the beating he gave Cena, but the fact that he returned. Now, he’s got his eyes fixated on John for a massacre of a match. Despite his fear, Cena encouraged Lesnar to come get some and anyone else who’s brave enough to do so. Irritatingly so, LP showed up wanting a match as well at Clash in Paris, Aug 31. While Paul was talking terrible French, Cena didn’t see McIntyre sneaking up behind him as they both jumped on John. Luckily, I think, Rhodes came to help. This naturally turned into a Tag Team match later on.
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Talla Tonga & JC Mateo – Tag Team match
The Machine Guns were seemingly looking better than the MFTs present in this match, but it’s only a matter of time until retaliation starts to set in. Chris Sabin sent JC Mateo into the barricades, unfortunately, Tonga Loa had the referee’s attention while Talla sent Alex Shelley into the crowd. Right into his bruised ribs after that brilliant TLC match.
Back inside the ring, Sabin surprised Mateo with a springboard DDT that nearly took him out. Shelley and Sabin teamed up to destabilize the big man the best way they could. It felt like they had to perform multiple double teams to even scratch the surface of their opponents being the MFTs. It was easy for JC to toss Sabin like dirt with Tour of the Islands. Just as Shelley and Sabin were about to initiate Skull and Bone, Talla came in and delivered a big boot to Alex’s face, sending him crashing to the floor. Talla planted Chris with a massively dominate choke slam for the victory.
Winners: Talla Tonga & JC Mateo
Sami Zayn vs. Solo Sikoa
Zayn went flying onto Solo to the outside like a shooting missile while Loa, Mateo and Talla couldn’t do anything about that as they stood by the action. As we return inside the ring, Sami was doing a great job repelling Sikoa, which only angered the MFTs. Solo pretended to be badly hurt just so Talla could get his hands on Sami without the referee’s knowledge.
Solo was going for the Samoan Spike, Sami kicked his hand away, then delivered an exploder in the corner. Loa tried to get involved, but Zayn took care of him with a bump on the head. Sami was looking for the Helluva Kick prior to that interruption, instead, he delivered another exploder to Solo for a second chance ruined by JC.
According to commentary, Zayn was foolish for inviting Talla Tonga to repeat his previous assault before Sikoa knocked him down with a Super Kick. Regardless of that, Sami stunned Solo with a roll up and won. That could very well of earned Sami a title match in the future. Yay!
Winner: Sami Zayn
Hot of their Women’s Tag Team win this past weekend, which I’m still shocked about, we’re also celebrating Alexa Bliss’ birthday. Strangely, Charlotte was the one who got the idea to allow Alexa to hug her, to what Bliss found… well, unnecessary. Despite the insistence from Flair, fortunately, Chelsea Green and her band of goons interrupted a rather awkward and forced attempt at being friends. If things weren’t already getting pulled out of someone’s ass, as a birthday gift to Alexa, Nick Aldis sanctioned a match between Flair and Green right now.
Charlotte Flair vs. Chelsea Green
A roll up attempt from Charlotte went poorly since Chelsea managed to get out of it and unintentionally sent Flair flying head first into the second turnbuckle. Fortunately, Charlotte made a comeback with a clothesline to Chelsea’s throat and a German suplex. Later on, Green magically became the one on top as she ordered Alba Fyre and Piper Niven to bring Alexa’s cake into the ring.
Bliss saw that and pounced on them AFTER the cake was already delivered inside the ring. Charlotte reversed the I’m Prettier on Chelsea, and sent her face crashing into the cake. To finish things off, Green tapped immediately to the Figure 8.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
John Cena & Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul – Tag Team match
Paul and Rhodes started this match off as the current Champion had the fight mostly under his control until he got a bit too overzealous, and Logan took over for a moment. Regrettably for LP, he found himself smacked on the mat. Rhodes took, once again, too much time to tag Cena in that Paul pounced on him. Drew stormed in with fire until he was slammed onto his back. McIntyre made him pay with a Glasgow Kiss. That stunned Rhodes cold.
While McIntyre had the referee’s eyes on him for arguing with John, Logan made sure the camera was filming him clotheslining Cody. McIntyre stupidly thought he had Rhodes down for the count, but he kicked out. Cody finally managed to dodged Drew by forcing a collision with the post, so he could tag Cena, who brawled with Logan with a Five Knuckle Shuffle plus an AA. Annoyingly so, McIntyre intercepted, so Rhodes intercepted him.
Just as John was about to win this match, Logan delivered a low-blow, which resulted in a premature ending for everyone. McIntyre still went on to beat up Cody near the commentary desk.
Winners: No one
