I can’t say I’m surprised to see Becky Lynch having her moment lashing out at the Dublin audience because that’s been an ongoing theme lately. That’s what happens when you give so much and get nothing in return, but you’re too nice to say something. John Cena had his say, now it’s Lynch’s turn. She and Seth Rollins have been doing some questionable things, but it’s all in name of climbing up and/or gaining power.
While we’re here with Becky, the crowd annoyed even me when they were chanting CM Punk’s name. I’m like: “Since when did he enter the conversation?” Anyway, she was going off. Ha! I don’t know, but it made me feel sorry for her. However, that doesn’t matter since Nia Jax came out to remind Tiffany Stratton, who’s here by the way, that she has bigger problems to deal with as she and Lynch pounce on her. Suddenly, a storm is coming in the form of Jade Cargill.
Due to the kerfuffle, Nick Aldis sanctioned a Tag Team match where Cargill teams up with Stratton to take on Lynch and Jax in tonight’s main event.
Piper Niven vs. Charlotte Flair
Because Chelsea Green felt the need to get up on the apron to distract Flair, that allowed Niven to plant the queen on her back for a near fall. Charlotte thought she had the upper hand on her opponent, yet Piper surprised her with a running crossbody.
It wasn’t until Flair rolled out of the way from an incoming Piper that things started to turn around in her favor. That Moonsault from Flair almost put Niven away, yet she managed to stay in the game for some close range foolery. While Charlotte had Piper in the Figure 8, Alba Fyre had the referee’s attention, while Chelsea clawed Flair’s face, forcing a release. Niven won with a body driver on Charlotte. A cheap victory.
Winner: Piper Niven
The Miz & Carmelo Hayes vs. Motor City Machine Guns – Tag Team match
Despite Miz’s greatest efforts, Chris Sabin managed to spike him on the head with a tornado DDT. Miz found himself in a compromising position with the Machine Guns, while Melo was nowhere to be seen. Just when you questioned where his ass was, Hayes flew in to save the match.
Honestly, Hayes’ “assistance” was short-lived since Sabin and Shelley neutralized him very quickly, then returned their attention back to Miz with an attempt at Skull and Bone. Miz was able to get out of there and be tagged by Carmelo. He was fast with La Mistica, but it wasn’t enough to put Chris away.
Just as Melo was waiting for Sabin to come back to a vertical base, Miz tagged himself in. As they argued, Chris shoved Hayes into Miz, yet he was at the mercy of a set of knees to the chest. Unfortunately, Shelley didn’t know who was legal, so he went after the wrong guy being Hayes, while that granted Miz the opening to pin Sabin. I still hate their new name, Melo don’t Miz… Oof, needs some work.
Winners: The Miz & Carmelo Hayes
During a match between the Street Profits and the MFTs, JC Mateo and Tonga Loa, Solo Sikoa tried to intervene on occasion, which resulted in Montez Ford being shoved by Talla Tonga. Mateo almost put Ford away with Tour of the Island because of that unfair advantage. Jimmy Uso saw this and ventured to take on Talla Tonga with a chair that went as well as you’d expect… poorly.
Unbeknownst to Sikoa, Sami Zayn was right behind him, ready to trip him up and deliver a Helluva Kick. Once the threats were disposed of or scattered, Montez was able to finish the job with a massive frog splash on Mateo to win. As a reward, the Profits have a Number One Contender’s match next week.
A fight was supposed to take place with R-Truth and Aleister Black, but Truth accidently flew to Dublin, Georgia instead of Dublin, Ireland. Ha! Anyway, he secured a reliable replacement in Damian Priest, who Black thought he put him out of action. These boys were too eager to throw hands before the ringing of the bell. Clearly, that didn’t matter as Priest tossed Aleister over the ropes. No one was fully able to keep these raging fighters from breaking the other’s neck. Revenge is sweet to watch.
As we move on with the evening, John Cena arrived in Dublin to address the audience about his upcoming match against LP at Clash in Paris on Aug 31. He wasn’t able to get a word in yet when Paul interrupted him, begging the fans to accept him when no one ever will. Cena saw Paul’s tactics of using the WWE to promote his Prime drink and disrespect the entire industry as a whole. I love when that Prime hydration table gets flipped. It makes me happy.
Cena was dropping some clarity and wisdom that I greatly enjoyed every second of it. I was throwing my hands around like I was at church, or watching RuPaul’s Drag Race. The pettiness was the same. “Logan Paul is not an outsider, he’s a parasite.” John embarrassed Logan like a pig wearing a bikini. He was feeling the effects of that roast since Logan attacked John backstage just as Aldis was about to tell us what Brock Lesnar wanted.
Next up, we’re dealing with Drew McIntyre after he severally injured Cody Rhodes a few weeks ago and is here to boast about it. Everyone was vining for that Undisputed Champion spot, but McIntyre wanted to make sure he’s first in line. To his detriment, he didn’t see the Viper slithering behind him as he delivered an RKO to Drew. Orton wanted payback for what happened to Rhodes.
Tiffany Stratton & Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax & Becky Lynch – Tag Team match
Jax and Stratton were in desperate need of a tag as they successfully bring in their partners. Lynch looked like she saw the Devil because she was too scared to approach Cargill, who’s anxiously waiting for her on the other end of the ring. Jade landed the first couple of hits on Becky, causing her to stumble. Commentary saw these two colliding as a dream match for the future. I do, too.
As Becky climbed to the top and leaped from it, Jade easily caught her and performed a fall away slam to the Irish woman. Lynch was simply bouncing around the ring like a dizzy child looking for the exit as Jade delivered an impressive sit-out powerbomb that, unfortunately, went nowhere golden.
Cargill didn’t see the tag initiated between Becky and Nia, so she relentlessly continued her pursuit of Lynch. Much to Jax’s joy, she squashed Jade from the rear and got her with the Senton. That wasn’t sufficient since Cargill got right back up and powerbombed Nia. Stratton performed a beautiful Moonsault as Jade brought everything to a close with a frog splash, while Becky vanished.
