Although, Randy Orton said that it doesn’t matter who comes out of the title match later tonight between Rhodes and McIntyre, but I think it does, indeed, matter. And I’ve already explained why, if anyone has been reading these posts in full. Honestly, we can just ignore Trick Williams’ whole entrance because that was an invitation to get conked.
Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. – US Chmapionship match
El Hijo came out of the blocks hot with a drop kick to the chest of the Champion, followed by a cannonball. The early goings weren’t moving in Hayes’ favor since El Hijo didn’t give him much space to breathe. Carmelo may have survived the first pin, but he fell victim to a body slam and another drop kick from the air this time. Hayes attempted to fight back the best he could with no momentum, but he did thwarted Wagner for a moment with the First 48.
Most of the time, Melo has been absorbing the hits during this match and rarely responded, however, he retained by dodging an incoming, flying body to deliver Nothing but Net.
Winner: Carmelo Hayes
While the new Women’s Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax and Lash Legend, were celebrating their victory, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair made their presense known. You know, Bliss actually looked way more pissed than I thought, and for some reason, I enjoyed it. Alexa and Charlotte weren’t the only ones stepping up to the Champions, Giulia and Kiana James also staked their claim as well. A match between these ladies ensued to determine who has a closer shot at those titles. Flair and Bliss won due to Natural Selection delivered to Giulia.
Tag Team Turmoil No. 1 Contenders match
Axiom dropped Chris Sabin on his head pretty hard, so he tagged Alex Shelley to take on Nathan Frazer. At this moment, it would appear that Shelley and Sabin haven’t been able to respond to the attacks they’re getting from the opposiition. Fraxiom performed multiple suicide dives that resulted in the Motor City Machine Guns to falter every time. Even when Sabin and Shelley have managed to somewhat return fire, they’re still reeling from the previous beat up.
Frazer delivered a very effective double drop kick that Shelley bumbed against a camera as he fell out of the ring. The Machine Guns worked together to slow Nathan down the best they could before he received some help from his partner, Axiom. He pinned Chris, but Alex sneakily placed his foot on the bottom rope. The referee had already counted to three by then, so Sabin and Shelley were eliminated as Los Garza rushed in.
Los Garza were doing the smart thing, and that’s not allowing Fraxiom to take a break, just like they did in their first round. The tables have turned. Given how fresh they are, Angel and Humberto were making quick work ouf of their challengers, despite the kick outs. Even with the fatigue, Fraxiom continued to fight their best. Axiom nearly pinned Angel until Berto came out of nowhere.
Frazer temporarily swatted Humberto to the outside, while Axiom attempted to take care of Angel. The second that Humberto came back and shoved Nathan off the top as he went crashing face first against the barrcade, Los Garza performed a winning MTY on Axiom to advance in a brawl with Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy from the Wyatt Sicks. Gacy was truly sick as he pressed his face onto Humberto’s. An elevated blockbuster from Los Garza almost granted them the win if Joe hadn’t interferred and practically became a one-man army.
At some point, Tonga Loa materialized and dragged Gacy out of the ring. A distraction from Tama Tonga towards Lumis allowed Berto to roll him up as they face their last opponents in Damian Priest and R-Truth…. What?? Truth was still having an identity crisis as he delivered the Five Knuckle Shuffle to Berto. Since he wasn’t able to do the AA, Truth transitioned into the STF. Angel saved his partner just in time. Alas, that didn’t last long once Damian kicked Angel in the face. Priest turned his attention towards Humberto with a South of Heaven victory. The double pin didn’t need to happen, though.
So weird…
Winners: R-Truth and Damian Priest
During an exclusive clip, Bo Dallas hightlighted that he will not rest until he gets back what the MFTs have stolen from him. Bray Wyatt’s lantern. But not only that, I presume, but the Championships as well. He warned Solo that he and his family will always be looking over their shoulders for as long as it takes to reclaim part of his soul.
And speaking of reclaiming our souls, Johnny Gargano felt like his presense has been buried somewhere, and he hasn’t been feeling like himself, so he challenged anyone in the locker room to come fight him. Of course, he didn’t expect Oba Femi to answer that call. He went silent real quick when Femi tossed him around like a sack of flour, a piece of cumbled paper and a useless, disheveled pair of shoes. Who was this really for?
As much as I love an old-fashioned roast, this time between Ripley and Cargill come WrestleMania, all I kept thinking about was how many microphones died after wrestlers drop or throw them to the floor? Because these ones definitely died.
Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre (c) – Undisputed WWE Championship match
McIntyre survived the early flurries, especially the drink thrown to his face, as he fought back in this corparate engineered match as Drew dropped Rhodes’ spine against the apron. I don’t know why commentary said that no one saw this match coming when I beg to differ. I saw it coming.
The very thing I hoped wouldn’t happen, happened. Some people either shouldn’t be champ for so long, or be plastered in our faces like they’re all that matters. I was happy, okay, when Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns. Never forget that. I still wanted it to be Jey Uso, but we can’t have everything. I don’t hate Cody now, stop thinking that, I just think that we’re paying too much attention to the wrong people. Gargano feeling underappreciated makes sense to me and no one seems to be noticing that.
This entire match was a mess that I found it painful to watch. I actually prefer that McIntyre win, but… Jacob Fatu’s slight intervention, albeit inevitable, allowed Rhodes to deliver the final Crossroad.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
I’ve published a couple of posts on blacksugar, so hopefully, y’all read them with care.
