Whether it’s the presence of the TNA roster or non-presence of the NXT tag team division, the NXT women’s roster is the backbone of the silver brand. Lash Legend, Izzi Dame, Jaida Parker and Jordynne Grace open the show with promos on tonight’s fatal four-way main event. The winner will challenge NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne at Evolution on July 13, and newly signed Blake Monroe is sure to be looming too.
Trick Williams (c) vs Josh Briggs – TNA Championship
Yoshiki Inamura pinned Williams last week and graciously gave his shot to partner Briggs. Corey Graves describes the action as “two locomotives colliding” as the big men move with purpose and intensity. Inamura sets Briggs up for a big boot before break, and the challenger hits a big-man comeback afterwards. He flips out of a powerbomb attempt, hits a chokeslam for two and trades blows with Williams. The latter avoids a moonsault and hits Trick Shot for victory, retaining in one of both competitors’ smoothest matches yet. Williams calls himself the greatest TNA Champion of all time before Joe Hendry’s music plays. Hendry blindsides him, sending a message before their match at Slammiversary on July 20.
Winner: Trick Williams
Footage from earlier shows dissension between No Quarter Catch Crew as Tavion Heights says Charlie Dempsey is scared of him leaving. Heights pulls out a face mask for his match against Je’Von Evans, where if he’s victorious, he’s free from NQCC.
Former NQCC member Myles Borne shares his excitement for Florida Gators George Gumbs Jr. and Tyreak Sapp. Lexis King tries interrupting but forgets that Borne is deaf. King disses the Gators, and Gumbs and Sapp make him retreat.
Je’Von Evans vs Tavion Heights
Commentary refers to this match as the future of the industry. It’s apparent for Evans, and it starts by breaking out of NQCC for Heights. Evans is indeed bouncy, diving over the ropes before break – and Heights makes him flip with a clothesline thereafter. Evans hits a spinning kick and splash for three, keeping Heights locked up for now. Jasper Troy appears from behind Evans, dropping him with a Black Hole Slam – shoutout to WWE 2K’s newest DLC addition Abyss.
Winner: Je’Von Evans
With poor and mysterious timing, new Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar vacated his title over the weekend due to an undisclosed injury. Filling the vacancy is Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, who compete for the championship in their ongoing saga tonight.
Ricky Saints vs Ashante “Thee” Adonis
Saints returns from his larynx injury via Ethan Page’s Twisted Grin on a steel chair. Despite Adonis throwing his coat, Saints takes control with his signature pose preceding the commercial. He eventually scores with a spear and hits Rochambeau for three in a decisive win. North American Champion Page appears on-screen, and his video deliberately buffers, allowing him to blindside Saints with his own Rochambeau in-ring.
Winner: Ricky Saints
“Y’all forgot about us?” Dion Lennox of Darkstate says after disappearing from television. Saquon Shugars still assures that they’ll burn NXT to the ground.
NXT Champion Oba Femi struts to the ring, announcing that he’s restless without competition. Inamura walks out, fulfilling his championship aspirations to partner Briggs last week. The Pro Wrestling Noah visitor says he loves and misses NXT, but Femi says he’ll fall like everyone else. “I am ready!” Inamura says before a potential hoss fight. Troy arrives again, trucking Inamura down and facing off with Femi in-ring.
Izzi Dame asks Tatum Paxley to be in her corner, and Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca can’t believe it. Zaria says let her, and Dame suggests Ruca is the closest the former will get to gold. Paxley meets with The Culling, and Shawn Spears says he’s heard “so many good things” about her.
The High Ryze meet with a frustrated Williams in the locker room, and Wes Lee says he’ll take care of Joe Hendry next week. “I’ll owe you one,” the TNA Champion responds.
Tony D’Angelo vs Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo – Heritage Cup Championship
“Stacks” is trailed by three miscellaneous Italian men for the match determining the new Heritage Cup Champion; technically competitors have one cornerman. A week after Dar’s vignette about a record four reigns totaling over 800 days, he bafflingly drops it the following weekend. Round one ends with a brawl, D’Angelo scores in round two with a spear and nearly avoids a pin in round three. “Stacks” capitalizes on a knee injury with a roll-up pin in round four, prompting Luca Crusifino to join D’Angelo’s side thereafter. “The Don” throws “Stacks” over the ropes onto two Italians, but Crusifino inadvertently hits the former with one of their buckets. “Stacks” connects with a running knee for victory, crowned as the new Heritage Cup Champion. D’Angelo drops Crusifino with a right hand, disowning both his former family members.
Winner: Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo
Fatal Influence is not impressed by Blake Monroe in a backstage interview. NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne looks ahead to Evolution, being sure that tonight’s main event winner won’t win in Atlanta.
Thea Hail crashes out about her WWE Evolve loss, and Lainey Reid insinuates she isn’t a grown woman. Lash Legend skirts past, onto bigger things like tonight’s main event.
Ava catches up with North American Champion Page, and the general manager says he and Saints are required to be in her office next week. Page asks Siri to text The Vanity Project, and meanwhile, Ava finds NXT Tag Team Champions Hank Walker and Tank Ledger floored in the back. She finally found them.
Hendry is interviewed backstage about his rivalry with TNA Champion Williams, who he competes against at Slammiversary. Hendry says he’ll remind Lee where came from next week.
Summer school is in session at Chase University, and Andre Chase says Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors need to toughen up. They walk out again, and Dixon reveals he’s the one who called out to Chase months ago to reform the institution.
Inamura versus Troy is announced for next week, where the winner faces Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at The Great American Bash. Plus, Myles Borne faces Lexis King over the spirit of the Florida Gators.
Jaida Parker vs Izzi Dame vs Lash Legend vs Jordynne Grace
The winner of tonight’s main event challenges NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne at Evolution on July 13. Regardless of who wins, they’re sure to be running into Monroe afterwards. Fatal Influence watches from the podium as the competitors scrap back and forth. Before break, Grace dives over the ropes, Dame chokeslam her on the apron, and Paxley grabs Parker’s foot. Ruca and Zaria appear, hauling Paxley off to the light side. Parker charismatically takes over with Orlando on her side, Legend shows off her power, and Grace follows through with the obligatory Tower of Doom spot. Parker hits the latter with Hipnotic before the competitors trade maneuvers, but Grace comes back with a Torture Rack slam for victory.
