New faces mix with the established talent of the National Wrestling Alliance, and new opportunities abound. Alex Taylor is making a run as the longest-reigning Junior Heavyweight champion as he faces Luke Curtis with his belt on the line. Also, Daisy Kill is one such man wanting to challenge Bryan Idol for the NWA Television title, and The RockStar will have his hands full facing The Looks That Kill.
We come to you from the PowerrrStation at the WEDU PBS studios in Tampa, FL. Joe Galli and Danny Dealz have the call, and your First Match of the Night is…
The Holy Grail (EC3 and Pretty Boy Smooth) vs. Cam Fox and Kai Price
Fox and Price, we learn, are also students of The Dungeon run by Nattie Neidhart and TJ Wilson (as evidenced by Price’s choice of black and hot pink ring gear), and they face a tough task ahead of them from the group out of NWA Exodus Pro. Overall, as a tag team, they display great double-team action, but Fox had a few flubs when trying to get fancy on a few moves with EC3.
A tag to Smooth and the Urban Playboy shows off his power as he gives a standing STO to Fox, and then follows by throwing him around like a sack of flour. The Holy Grail cut the ring in half, and poor Fox is in Peril. He manages to kick EC3 out of the way to tag in Price, and he is Hot Pink en Fuego. At one point, they set up EC3 for the Hart Attack, but Smooth trips up Price and gets thrown out of the ring. Fox gets taken for a ride with a Penthouse Bomb (a standing Blue Thunder Bomb) by Smooth for the win
Your Winners via Pinfall: EC3 and Pretty Boy Smooth
Kyle Davis comes in to interview and asks EC3 if this is the new path for him in tag team wrestling. Let’s hear from The OverLord:
“The path to becoming who you are supposed to be takes many roads and many steps. I am the great leader of all of professional wrestling, All the Lost Souls, all the up and comers, all the one of these; all of them never make it.
And then there are the chosen few. There are few who can meet my criteria, my standards, my excellence of Ethan Carter Cognitive Ability.
From the Church of EC3, the Overlord thyself, I have found my Goliath. I have found a giant. And it’s not stature, it’s not physicality. This man is a giant. And potential I will forge, create, build, and as the NWA Tag Team Champions, potential to own this entire industry.”
Idol cuts a promo ahead of the main event, and he makes it clear to Daisy Kill that he is a tough opponent, but he can back it up in the ring. Idol emphasizes that Looks Kill, and so does he.
Back at The BitCrush gaming store, TVMA stops in, and Tiffany Nieves seeks “advice” from The Cashier. Before she can proceed, she sees Dr. Viktor from the Conflict Resolution seminar in Dothan (what a coincidence!), and as they chat, everyone seems to notice there is something unspoken between the two.
As TVMA leaves the store, Viktor and The Cashier talk. Well, more accurately, he places his hands on The Cashier and suggests there could be a trade involved with certain wrestlers of the female variety. Even The Cashier gets the heebie-jeebies, and I am curious where this is going.
But let’s head back to the ring for title action for the..

NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Alex Taylor(c) vs. Luke Curtis
It’s been almost two years since Curtis graced our presence in the NWA. Apparently, according to Galli, he’s been at New Japan’s LA Dojo, and that will be interesting to see if he brings a Strong Style game to this match.
As the match gets underway, Curtis is putting on a clinic and showing Taylor his Fighting Spirit. Sensing trouble, he slides out and then trips up Curtis and traps him in the apron cover. He wails on him before nailing a suplex to Curtis on the floor. Back in the ring, he starts to learn why Taylor is Too Hot to Trot. As he attempts a Broncobuster, Curtis moves at the last second, and Taylor hits the middle turnbuckle right in the…err, little Trots (which don’t feel that Hot).
Curtis fires up and unloads with suplexes, followed by a leg lariat in the corner. Then he climbs up and, channeling his inner Harley Race, nails a diving head butt to cover, but gets a two count. Curtis drops a knee pad to finish him off, but Taylor moves away. They jockey for position, but Taylor nails a fisherman’s neckbreaker for a count of two. Curtis connects with a Full Nelson slam and goes for a moonsault, but there’s no water in the pool on the way down, to quote Joe Galli. One Green Whistle later, and Taylor retains.
Your Winner, and Still NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion: Alex Taylor
Rich Swann is back, sans his trademark dreadlocks. The Former TNA superstar cuts a promo, and here’s what he had to say:
“Ladies and gentlemen. Well, well, well, it looks like your boy Rich Swann has landed himself in the National Wrestling Alliance, the place where greats have made themselves.
I’m talking about greats like Sting. I’m talking about greats like (Woo!), Ric Flair. I’m talking about greats like Dusty Rhodes. Your boy is here, and he’s here for one reason, and one reason only. That is to showcase my charisma, athleticism, and raw talent. Now you see, I’ve been keeping my eye on NWA Powerrr. I’ve been keeping my eye on NWA in general.
Now, see…if you don’t know about Rich Swann, I am a former world champion. I’m a former cruiserweight champion. I am a former X-Division champion. I have held gold everywhere that I have set foot, and the NWA will be no different. You see, one of the most decorated divisions in this company, the junior heavyweight division, something that as soon as the man Homicide, “Mr. 187,” “The Notorious 187″ won that championship, I said, ‘God damn, I need a piece.’ Which brings me to you, Alex Taylor. Your boy Rich Swann has his eyeball on you. Now, next week, everybody is going to see that flash, and the reason why I’m equal to cash and why Rich Swan will whoop all over that ass. And unfortunately for you, Mr. Alex Misery, you are the first to find that out.”
Back at the Culbreath Isles, The Lawyer is here for the estate of Mr. Bleer. Tyler Franks, Natalia Markova, and Kenzie Paige are present (with the latter two acting as proxies for Hunter, Tommy Henry, and Bryan Idol, respectively). Basically the Lawyer says the late Mr. Bleer’s estate is worth $12 million and asks each of the parties involved that by next week they submit in writing how the money shall be spent.
Why do I get a “Knives Out” kinda feel to this segment?
But, I digress.
Let’s head back for tag team action between…
The Country Gentlemen (AJ and KC Cazana, with Joe Cazana) vs. Rewind Society (Samuel C and VHS)
VHS is no stranger to the NWA, but his tag partner, Samuel C, is. However, both men are pretty popular with the Florida crowd, but you know where this is headed as AJ and KC make short work in this squash match. A Dead to Rights and The Gentlemen’s Touch ends it, and you know The Country Gentlemen were not kind as they beat down the Rewind Society.
Your Winners via Pinfall: The Country Gentlemen
After the match, Samuel tries to help his tag partner, but the Country Gentlemen are really in no mood. Tommy Henry and Hunter come out as it’s now a standoff between the heads of Kross Fire Wrestling and Joe Cazana Productions. Joe sneaks up and doesn’t play it by the book, as he bashes Henry with the NWA Rulebook. Then, AJ and KC give Hunter a taste of his medicine,
The Southern Six are with Alex Taylor after his victory over Curtis. Taylor is interested in what Swann had to say, and he wants a front row seat to see him and Misery battle it out next week. “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason is happy that his fellow Six member got the win, but he noticed that he hasn’t heard from Latimer, and his response to he title challenge is “as silent as the grave.” Mason says again that he wants to face Latimer for the Ten Pounds of Gold at NWA 77.
At the PowerrrStation, Aron Stevens comes up to Carson Drake and asks if he has thought about his offer to work for him. Drake laughs off his suggestion, and Stevens is miffed by his rebuttal. He points out Drake has lost opportunities for other titles, and he can get him back to the top. As he walks away, Drake is no longer laughing.
Now for the Main Event, and it is for the…
NWA World Television Championship: Bryan Idol(c) vs. Daisy Kill
This is the first title defense for Idol, and we get reminded that he needs seven successful defenses before he can be considered for contention at the NWA World Heavyweight belt. What’s different is that there will be no time limit as Idol waived that stipulation, and Galli explains we wanted to earn his defenses without any cheap countouts.
Also of note is that Kill is going solo without his running mate, Talos. Galli mentions that he is away at All Japan for a tour (which you already know since you follow his column).
As both men get ready, the fans chant “Happy Birthday” to Idol, and that’s not a bad way to get it started. Kill certainly wants to ruin his birthday plan, and once they lock up, Idol powers him into the corner, and Kill backs off, saying he needs to get prepared. After he ties up his hair, he goes back and gives Idol a taste of his medicine. Pretty soon, the tide turns to The Looks that Kill as he works over The RockStar with a sling blade, followed by a running knee to the corner. He follows with a rollup to kill and then a short knee to the face, and Kill finally rolls out for a breather. Idol pulls him by the hair, and he gives thumb to the eye and nails a spinebuster. That leads to some…
Ads (Mostly, it’s Eric Smalls cutting a promo on Knox and Murdoch, not understanding why they attacked him after The Crockett Cup. Also, Pope says after last week, he wants a match with Big Strong Mims, and he’s coming for him, Daddy.)
We come back, and Kill is in the driver’s seat, and doesn’t let his foot off the gas. He trips up Idol and slingshots him to the corner turnbuckles and sends him back-first to his knees. He rallies and gets Kill in a sharpshooter, but he manages to grab the ropes to make him release the submission. They go back and forth until Idol lands punches to the head, followed by a clothesline, and he caps it off with a double underhook suplex. A whip to the corner and he rushes, but Kill slams him to the mat and stacks him up for a pin, but gets a two count, even with his feet on the ropes. Kill goes for the ripcord thrust kick, but Idol reverses to a spinning Killswitch for the one, two, and three.
Your Winner, and Still NWA Television Champion: Bryan Idol
Happy Birthday as Idol celebrates with his first title defense on his way to “Lucky Seven” as the show comes to a close.
