ON THIS NWA Powerrr, the National Wrestling Alliance has a big main event as Mike Mondo will go power for power to challenge Big Strong Mims for his NWA National title at NWA 77. Additionally, Colby Corino discusses his health and what the future holds for the Prince of Old School.
Once again, we come to you from The Paramount in Huntington, NY. Joe Galli and Danny Dealz have the call, and we start with your First Match of the Night, and it is for the…

NWA Women’s Television Championship: “La Princesa” Tiffany Nieves(c)(with Ms. Starr)vs. Sirena Veil
Veil was last in a tag title match alongside Clara Carter against Nieves’ TVMA group for the NWA Women’s tag team title, and unfortunately, they came up short. Here’s hoping “Dracula’s Assistant” fares better in singles competition. As for Nieves, this will be her sixth title defense on the way to “lucky number seven,” where she could get a shot at The Burke.
This match will not have a 6:05 time limit, and as we get underway, Veil is giving some deep arm drag to the champ along with a shotgun dropkick. She mounts and starts feeling a little peckish at her neck. Nieves isn’t giving this bloodsucker the time of day and pulls her off violently to crash down to the mat. She gives Veil some nasty stomps in the corner as she is trapped in the Tree of Woe, followed by a baseball slide to the corner. She provides a spinning sidewalk slam and an elbow drop for good measure and then cranks a Fujiwara armbar. Starr tries to add leverage, but the ref catches her red-handed, and Veil escapes the submission.

She comes back with a German suplex and follows with a Shining Wizard. Instead of going for the pin, Veil hits the ropes, but Starr distracts. Nieves takes the opportunity to confront her, and Veil attempts a boot. La Princesa catches it and spins her around, and she counters with a modified headlock leg drop, but doesn’t follow up to put her away. This allows Nieves to roll out, and as Starr consoles her client, Veil dropkicks her. As she heads back to the ring, Nieves is waiting for her as she sneaks up and gives Dracula’s Assistant a spinebuster. That sets up Veil for Bieves to lock in the Royal Seat as she taps out.
Your Winner via Submission, and Still NWA Women’s Television Champion: Tiffany Nieves
One more match and La Princesa is that much closer to a title shot.
The NWA Territories President, Joe Cazana, is next to Kylie Paige at the Paige House, and he talks about the Donnybrook coming up next week between his boys, The Country Gentlemen, and her dad, Tommy Henry, and Hunter. Cazana was under the impression that her dad would have the guts to talk about it, but feels Joe Cazana Promotions is the far superior wrestling outfit in Tennessee, as opposed to Paige’s Kross Fire Wrestling. Kylie points out he’s getting ready for his match, and they bicker on whose promotion is better. Then he goes into Paige’s mom, and Kylie fires up. Cazana goads Kylie to swing at his face, but she doesn’t want to dignify him with the satisfaction. Joe smirks at that, only to find his eyes getting clawed out by Kylie Paige.
I’m sure this plays out great in that part of the southeastern United States. Let’s see how it translates on next week’s Powerrr.
Kenzie cuts a promo stating she is not ducking Natalia Markova’s challenge. With all the obstacles The Russian Crush has overcome, Kenzie welcomes Markova to take her best shot and she will face her next week, putting the NWA Women’s title on the line. She promises that the result will be the same; Markova loses again.
Strong words from the champ as she is almost equalling Kamille’s dominant title reign.
Now let’s head back to the ring for the inaugural…

“International Heart-Throb Austin Idol Invitational”
The gist of the match is that it’s a gauntlet match, where the winner earns a future shot at the NWA National Title. Eliminations will be via pin, submission, or thrown over the top rope.
Already in the ring are Jay Bradley and “The Wall” Tyler Stevens, who’s been featured in Kross Fire. The Boss ducks under the ropes (since he can’t go over), beating Stevens and then ramming him into the guardrails. Out next is Mario Pardua, the NWA Chicago champion (and someone we’ve seen in previous episodes of Powerrr). He manages to get in a few spots before Bradley football tackles him. NWA Texas champ Izzy James enters the gauntlet, and he connects with his signature Snakebite (which is like a tiger feint to a leaping enzugiri), but he runs right into The Wall, who floors him with a clothesline.
Wrecking Ball Legursky enters, and fans are behind “America’s Superheavyweight.” As he dishes out the pain, it isn’t long before he and his former Fixer tag mate come to blows. He side steps a charge from Bradley and Stevens as they collide into each other. Up next is Wrestling’s Last Journeyman (and columnist for SlamWrestling.net), the NWA Mid America champion, Jeremiah Plunkett. During his introductions, James gets eliminated via pin by Bradley, but Plunkett is a Bad Bad Man in the ring. He holds his own until he eats a boot by Bradley.

Up next is World League Wrestling star Camaro Jackson, who was last seen at NWA’s Back to the Territories signature event, giving Plunkett a scoop slam and slamming anyone else in his path. Plunkett slaps the taste out of his mouth and attempts a piledriver, but Jackson counters with a backdrop. A discus forearm eliminates the Journeyman, but Jackson is floored by a clothesline from Bradley to exit as well. We then see Cristiano Argeno from NWA Exodus Pro make an entrance, which leads to…

Ads ( and Natalia Markova responds to Kenzie Paige that she will hold The Burke next week. “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason says in two weeks the weight will be offThom Latimer’s shoulders literally once he takes the Ten Pounds of Gold.)
We come back, and Argento, according to Galli, finally enters the ring after posing for the fans at ringside. Pardua goes for a Russian legsweep, and Bradley wipes him out with a lariat. Argento eliminates him with a pin and celebrates prematurely as Bradley makes his stay in the squared circle a short one. Legursky takes advantage and throws Bradley over the top rope to eliminate him, and then we find out that “The Most Successful Cousin” to enter the invitational is Lockjaw Drake. He is the “LJ” Carson Drake referred to on last week’s Powerrr. Apparently, he’s been a featured champion in the WLW and JCP NWA territories. We also see Frank Stone of NWA Texas make his debut, and he goes toe to toe with Legursky, only to be given a splash to end that run. I’d say that was the quickest exit by a wrestler in this gauntlet match if Argento didn’t beat him by mere seconds.
After more ads, we come back as Dante Casanova, the current champion of Exodus Pro, makes his entrance, and the Jaguar Warrior runs roughshod over the competition. Legursky throws him out, but he manages to land on his feet on the apron, and Casanova comes back with a crossbody for a two count. The final competitor is Charlie Adams from NWA Chicago, and he is their “Chicagoland Superman.” Casanova isn’t impressed as he nails a sliding clothesline to the back of Adams’ head to get the pin to send him flying back to the Second City.
Legursky picks his spot and tries to throw the Jaguar Warrior out again, but his catlike reflexes allow him to stay in the fight. He then gives a big slam to Casanova to cover, and he still kicks out.

Meanwhile, Lockjaw gives a German suplex to Stevens, who has managed to stay in the fight, and The Wall rolls out of the ring. Now Casanova returns the favor and sends Legursky over the rope, but he won’t fall and holds for dear life to the top rope. It takes both he and Lockjaw to finally break the grip of the American Superheavyweight as he finally tumbles to the floor. The fans are not having it, and they channel their inner ECW spirit, chanting, “You both suck!” to Casanova and Lockjaw as they jockey for position. That’s when Stevens comes back and gives a German suplex to Lockjaw, who launches Casanova in a suplex, but The Wall can’t secure a pin from either man.
Casanova goes for a moonsault, and Stevens pulls Lockjaw into his path. He then throws the dazed Jaguar Warrior to the post. Once he gets his wits about him, Casanova heads up the top turnbuckle, but Stevens makes him eat a big boot to topple him off and eliminate him. Now it’s Stevens and Lockjaw, and The Most Successful Cousin can’t knock him down, since….All in all, he’s just another brick in The Wall.

Stevens finally delivers a sidewalk slam, and that means…
Your Winner of the International Heart-Throb Austin Idol Invitational: Tyler Stevens
Stevens managed to last the entire match, a feat in itself. Let’s see how this pays off in the long run.
We then see Colby Corino tell his story about what led to his emergency surgery, which we reported not too long ago.
Simply put, he noticed he was having problems getting up and dealing with numbness in the lower half of his body. He goes into detail about how he kept his condition a secret for the last two years, and goes into detail about how he had to get emergency surgery. It’s also noted in the piece how bone from his hip was essentially grafted onto the affected parts of his spine. While he acknowledges he is out for the foreseeable future, he still wants to get back in the ring.

NWA National Championship: Big Strong Mims(c) (with BLK Jeez) vs. Mike Mondo (with Aron Stevens)
The bell rings, and both men circle each other. Mims has a victory over Mondo from their Shockwave signature event earlier this year, so it remains to be seen if this time will be Mondo’s time.
They are two bulls who are trying to establish dominance, and neither is backing down. Mondo wants a test of strength, and pie faces the champ, while Mims reciprocates. They clasp hands and will not budge an inch.

Mondo attempts an inside cradle for a two count, and then it turns into a chop fest. Mims rakes his eyes and head butts the big man, and then punctuates with a belly-to-belly suplex, but gets a two-count. He shoots him to the ropes, and as Mondo bends the ref’s ear, Stevens trips him up on the outside. A running boot by Mondo for a cover, and the champ kicks out. The majority of the match looks like it’s Mondo’s time as Mims struggles to get on offense. He whips Mondo to the ropes, and now Jeez returns the favor tit for tat.

He uses that chance to nail a corner splash from one end of the ring to another, and Mims sets him up top for a Big Strong Slam and a splash, but it’s still a count of two. Mondo runs into a back elbow, and he heads out onto the apron to clear his head. Mims catches with a clothesline that turns him inside out as he drops to the concrete floor. Back in the squared circle, Mondo eats a huge spear by Mims as he covers for one, two…kick out.
Another Big Strong Slam for a pin attempt, and Stevens distracts the ref. All of a sudden, Da Pope comes out and heads to the squared circle. Given it was Mondo and Slade that tried to Pillmanize his leg, he makes a beeline and then waylays Mims. Mondo delivers the Gut Check, and he covers for the one, two, and three.
Your Winner, And New NWA National Champion: Mike Mondo
This is the first taste of gold for Mondo in the NWA, and he and Stevens celebrate his title victory. What this means for Mims and Pope is a story for another day as the show comes to a close.
