NWA Powerrr: Big Strong Mims wants to pop off against Pope

Big Strong Mims was at the top of his game on NWA Powerrr, even once holding the National title. Da Pope made his way back to the National Wrestling Alliance after a long hiatus and Mims wasn’t happy he was in his spotlight. Pope cost him the belt at NWA 77, and now Mims wants to exact revenge.

Who will come out on top?

We will find out tonight as we are in the PowerrrStation at the WEDU Studios in Tampa, FL. Joe Galli and Danny Dealz have the call, and Kyle Davis is in the ring with The Country Gentlemen and NWA President, Joe Cazana, who’s sporting a neck brace and a bandage on his left ear. He calls out the perpetrators “of this heinous violence” on him, and out come the Paige sisters and their dad, Tommy Henry.

They enter the ring, and Joe states he could fire and take the Kross Fire Wrestling territory away from them at any time, but he decides his daughters face his sons at the Samhain signature event. Henry cares about his kids, but he agrees to Joe’s conditions, stating it’ll be his two girls β€œagainst your two girls,” gesturing to AJ and KC.

Alex Misery wants to set things ablaze.

Cool. Just don’t give him any matches.

There is a little video montage of the rivalry between Mason and Latimer, and their upcoming rematch at Samhain.

Latimer recounts what led to him being the number one contender, and he is focusing on reclaiming the Ten Pounds of Gold from “Big Daddy Thrill.”

Now let’s starts with your First Match of the Night in a …

Triple Threat Match: Daisy Kill vs. Alex Misery vs. Joe Bravo

This is Bravo’s debut in the NWA, and he has wrestled 20+ years in places like WWC and the International Wrestling Association. If I had to describe his look, he reminds me of Alberto Del Rio, albeit shorter and (less face it) less controversial.

There is a flurry of offense from all three men, but it’s mostly Misery and Bravo battling it out as Kill is pacing himself. Bravo gets sent out with a huracanrana, and he turns his sights on Kill. He nails an enzugiri to the Rock Star, and a springboard crossbody to Bravo outside, and then he dives back in the ring with reckless abandon. Kill meets him with a thrust kick on the way down for a two count. He displays his kung fu on The Lost member and then goes for La Magistral for a count of two.

Bravo is back in, and Kill works the body and then follows with a bulldog. He backdrops Misery onto Bravo, and then props him on the top turnbuckle to set up an electric chair.

Misery falls forward with a Victory Roll to a pin before Bravo kicks him off. Misery tosses Kill out, and he delivers a high-flying elbow drop to get the win.

We get a recap of the Slimeballz US tag title win, and Chantz and Rant are having a party. But they decide to go to Slime Ball City, where it’s never pretty.

All I can say is…Slime Ball City must be better than Provo, UT. And THAT is a low bar to hurdle over.

Now for some retribution, your next match is…

The Holy Grail (EC3 and Pretty Boy Smooth) vs. Lockjaw and Carson Drake (with Aron Stevens)

Galli notes Pastor C-Lo is banned from ringside due to Joe Cazana. Interestingly, Stevens can still be with his team.

In any case, Smooth and Lockjaw start, and the Urban Playboy displays his power. Tag to EC3, and the Overlord adds some finesse to cut down the β€œcousin” of Carson Drake. Back to Smooth, and Stevens distracts the ref. He goes to deal with this nonsense, and that allows Carson to hyperextend his leg as he tries to climb over the top rope. Tag to Carson, and CBD is in control, albeit briefly, and Smooth rams his head into the turnbuckle. He whips him to the corner and follows with a splash. Smooth feeds him to EC3 with a Thesz press, and Carson takes a powder.

He chases after him outside and back in the squared circle, which is where Lockjaw tries to suplex the former NWA champion, but the Overlord reverses with a German suplex and sends Carson back in the hard way. He punctuates this by stomping on Stevens’ hand.

He turns his attention back to his opponents, and Carson hits him with a short DDT, and he and Lockjaw take turns wearing him down, making him and Overlord in Peril with the Drakes. Carson picks him up, but EC3 escapes, and he smashes his face against his knee. There’s a hot tag to Smooth, and the Urban Playboy is en Fuego.

Carson tried to attack but moved away from Smooth’s offense, and Lockjaw got the worst of it. Carson bails as EC3 hits a running knee strike on his cousin, and then the One Percenter ends it decisively.

Bryan Idol and Natalia Markova enter the BitCrush, and Mel the Cashier chats them up. Mel gets a little personal on their relationship outside of the squared circle. Idol and Markova are slightly annoyed by this, and they decide to go for steak.

Looks like “Mel” needs to learn boundaries.

Also, in one week, Matt Cardona is coming back to the NWA, and he’s Alwayz Ready.

We see the results of Pope interfering in Mims’ title match with Mike Mondo.

Mims cuts an intense promo. He expresses there will be no mercy, and no more of Pope’s BS after he’s done with him.

Now, Thom Latimer is at the BitCrush having a staring contest with Mel. He finally asks what his deal is. Mel is starting to wither under scrutiny on his knowledge of pro wrestling. The Slimeballz come in to say hi to the champ… except they didn’t get the memo about Latimer’s title status.

Awkward.

Up next is title action, and it is for the…

NWA Women’s Television Championship: β€œLa Princesa” Tiffany Nieves(c)(with Ms. Starr and Gretta) vs. Clara Carter

“The Queen City Killer” Carter is back and wants to try for singles gold and glory. Meanwhile, Gretta is staring dead-eyed at the ring, which has to be terrifying by itself.

Nieves taunts the upstart, but she has a few moves of her own. La Princesa now takes this seriously as she slams her head to the mat and shows a bit of showboating with a flying clothesline for a count of two.

Now she torments Carter, standing on her hair, and pulling on her torso, and then Nieves cinches in a full Nelson. Carter hits a jawbreaker to break the hold, but little good it does as Nieves is still in control as she nails her with a sidewalk slam and a suplex. She attempts an elbow drop that misses, and Carter rolls her up in a small package for a two count, and then follows with a leaping Michinoku driver. She sets the champ up in a fireman’s carry, and Nieves fishhooks her mouth to make her release. Then she makes Carter eat De-Feet, followed by a spinebuster, which allows her to quickly set up for the Royal Seat, making Carter submit.

Chalk up another win for La Princesa, as she makes her way to “lucky seven” for a shot at The Burke down the road.

Tommy Rant and Sage Chantz are still chatting it up with Latimer at the BitCrush, asking if he’s wrestled like Kenta Kobashi or Billy Corgan. He takes it in stride, but the impression Latimer gets from wrestling’s answer to Beavis and Butthead is that the lads are all right. He does dispense some words of advice that the Slimeballz shouldn’t hang out with Carson Drake or Aron Stevens.

How well they heed that advice is anyone’s guess, but odds are they’ll forget it.

Now for the Main Event, and it’s a grudge match between…

Da Pope vs. β€œBig Strong” Mims

No BLK Jeez at Mims side, as Galli explained that he, too, is β€œbanned” by Cazana. Doubt it’ll make a difference as Mims is super irate. Once the music hits, there is a big pop from Pope’s congregation in Tampa, and he’s ready to deliver his sermon on the mat.

As he enters the ring, Mims tackles him and tells the ref to ring the bell.

Pope is still in his entrance gear as Mims stomps a mudhole in him. Galli and Dealx note this is less a wrestling match and more akin to a hockey fight, until Pope stages a comeback. Now he gets his coat off and goes to work, but Mims reverses to a tackle in the corner and then a splash. He follows with a sidewalk slam, and he puts the badmouth on Da Pope, punching away. He whips him to the ropes, and Mims knocks him down with a shoulder tackle. He reruns the ropes, but Pope connects with a short spear, knocking both men to the mat, exhausted.

He’s in the driver’s seat and connects with a corner splash, but Mims reverses to a tackle. He misses the second time, and Pope returns fire with a step up enzugiri, and climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Mims pushes the ref to the ropes, and that trips Pope up. Mims uses that opportunity to deliver a monster Big Strong Slam to pin him for the one, two, and three.

Mims has now avenged his loss and asserts his dominance to the Tampa crowd as the show closes.
