NWA Powerrr: A battle between territories that’s ‘By The Book’

On this NWA Powerrr, two families from two Tennessee territories want to resolve their feud in the squared circle. Joe Cazana and his Country Gentlemen sons, AJ and KC, have been ruling the roost in the National Wrestling Alliance, especially the patriarch as the NWA Territories President. Tommy Henry of the Kross Fire Wrestling promotion and his daughters, Kylie and Kenzie Paige, have clashed with them and their group, and this is the only way matters will get resolved at the Samhain signature event.

Forget the Hatfields and the McCoys. This is a blood feud, and if anything, Cazana and company will follow things…By the Book.

The show opens cold with the current NWA Heavyweight champion, “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason, saying that in two weeks he will face Thom Latimer. He accuses him of trading one addiction with another in the Ten Pounds of Gold. He claims Latimer let that addiction get the better of him, and he wasn’t strong enough to shoulder the load. The fans don’t need to pray to a god; they just need to look at Mason, and he vows to own Latimer at Samhain.

NWA United States Tag Team Championship: The Slimeballz(Sage Chantz and Tommy Rant)(c) vs The Holy Grail (Pretty Boy Smooth and EC3, with Pastor C-Lo)

Well, at least…EC3 was supposed to compete, but he is out here with a cane. He gestures for Kyle Davis, and he gets on the mic to speak his mind. The Overlord advises that he is injured, but The Holy Grail evolves, and this match will be a tryout as EC3 introduces his replacement, Christiano Argento.

Smooth is a little skeptical, but goes along with the plan. Now Aron Stevens comes out, still suffering the effects from last week in the casket match he underwent with the Drakes against The Lost.

Chantz and Argento start, and he hip tosses him back to the corner for a tag to Rant. There’s some chain wrestling, and the Slimeballz are flustered until they double team, and it’s just more of the same. The Slimeballz seek out Stevens for advice, and Argento attempts to dive, misjudges the ropes, and bounces back. Stevens yells at them to attack, and they isolate Argento in the corner, and he is L’italiano in Pericolo.

That leads to…

Ads (where we have the Paige sisters cut a promo ahead of their main event between the Cazanas, promising to drop those boys on their heads. Also, the Southern Six are ready for anything. Alex Taylor promises to hang onto the NWA Junior Heavyweight belt, and Mason says Latimer has two weeks to prepare.)

We come back, and Argento fights through, but still can’t stop the onslaught of The Slimeballz. Rant misses a senton, and he gets the hot tag to Smooth, who is an Urbn Playboy en Fuego. He goes for a choke slam to Chantz, and it is blocked as Rant gets him on his shoulders. Chatz slaps him silly, but Smooth clotheslines him off his shoulders and nails a standing STO to rant.

He sets up for the kill, but Argento blind tags him, wanting the glory. He belly flops the splash, and the Slimeballz deliver with the Snot Rocket, and that allows them to retain.

Your Winners via Pinfall: The Slimeballz

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: The Slimeballz were successful in their first defense of the titles. Stevens quickly gathers the belts and the boys up and ushers them to the back like a mother hen. C-Lo is beside himself, and EC3 is stoic, saying no hard feelings to the young Italiano from Exodus Pro. Smooth is not so easygoing as he drives him to the mat with a Penthouse Bomb.

Either way, auditions are open to fill EC3’s spot in The Holy Grail (which is a true statement in more ways than one).

Trevor Murdoch addresses Hammerstone about trying to step up in the NWA title ranks. He’s fired up, and he and Mike Knox discuss strategy on how to chip away at the boulder that is Your Boy Hammer.

At the Worthwhile Estate, we finally get a conclusion to this whole “inheritance” dance. The attorney states that the person here to discuss it is…

(Author’s Rant: That sound you were hearing was the sound of a lead balloon dropping. The whole thing was a ruse by Cazana to prove what rubes the Paiges, Tommy Henry, Natalia Markova, and Bryan Idol were. I’m okay with backstage segments like this if there is a payoff in the squared circle, like how Lucha Underground used to do it. As for this segment, to quote the Philosopher Emperor Lrrr from Omicron Persei 8 from Futurama, “Overall I would give it a ‘C’: Okay, not great.”)

Backstage, Carson Drake is with Aron Stevens’ stable, reflecting on their successful title defenses, like The Slimeballz a few minutes ago and Mike Mondo, who defeated Wrecking Ball Legursky to retain the National title. Aron Stevens proclaims this is a team of champions, and everyone in the NWA is just realizing what is to come.

Now let’s head back to the ring for one-on-one action between…

Trevor Murdoch vs. Hammerstone

As Galli asutely notes, this is a match between a bodybuilder and a bar fighter.

Once the match gets underway, they circle, and Hammerstone pushes the former NWA champ to the corner. Another lockup, and Murdoch tries to knock him down, but no such luck. Your Boy Hammer (YBH, if you’re nasty) drops him with a shoulder tackle, followed by a deep squat to a fallaway slam. He drills Murdoch with corner clotheslines and poses with a boot to the side of his face. Murdoch gets up and lights his chest, but Hammerstone attempts the Nightmare Pendulum. Murdoch escapes but lands awkwardly on his knee.

He pulls down his kneepad, face contorted in pain as the ref and Knox check on him. But things look bad as the ref throws up the “X,” to denote a legit injury, so we go to a…

Commercial break (where Rich Swann cuts a promo as he has another bite at Bryan Idol’s NWA Television title next week. Plus, Shotzi Blackheart makes her debut in the NWA in two weeks’ time, facing Natalia Markova for the Burke. Now that is a buildup for a couple of awesome matches on Powerrr.)

We come back, and Hammerstone and Knox help Murdoch to his feet as the fans clap…until he pushes off and lands a DDT on YBH for a two count.

Now Murdoch is in the driver’s seat, and Your Boy Hammer is rocked. Even Knox gets in on the fun when the ref’s back is turned, especially when Hammerstone gets tossed out of the ring. He comes back and nails Murdoch with a missile dropkick. He whips Murdoch to the ropes and Hammerstone with a flying clothesline and a corner splash, followed by a powerslam for a two count. He props Murdoch on the top turnbuckle for a superplex, but he gets tripped up with assistance from Knox. Murdoch then lands with flying bulldog to the ref, and he thinks he has this in the bag. A whip to the ropes and Hammerstone counters with a running boot, and covers as a second ref runs in to make the three count.

Your Winner via Pinfall: Hammerstone

This is a huge win as Your Boy Hammer is closer to a title shot for the Ten Pounds of Gold, and Murdoch and Knox are left in disbelief, wondering what happened.

Tiffany Nieves is with her TV MA stable in Valentina Rossi, Ms. Starr, and the newest muscle, Gretta. They will take on The Hex for the vacant NWA Women’s tag team belts, and there is nothing they can do about it. Get It? Got It? Bueno.

The Holy Grail talks about what just happened in the opening match, and Matt Cardona comes into the picture. EC3 is a little very, and Cardona promises he’s not looking for another Ultimate Match of Death (which the Overlord notes was a banger). He wants Billy Corgan and goes about hunting him down.

The Hex is back, and Allysin Kay and Marti Belle emphasize that they are tag team wrestling. As for next week against TV MA, they promise The Hex aren’t witches. But they will Hex you into ruining your lives.

Before things get underway, Joe Cazana is in the ring with his son. After running down Atlanta as a cesspool of filth (and he doesn’t like the people, either), he claims he is in fear for the safety of his boys against Tommy Henry and the Paige sisters. Therefore, as NWA Territories President, he decrees that it will be a No Disqualification match.

Not even the fans buy this load, and it is getting pretty deep here.

But it’s time for the Main Event between…

Pretty Empowered (Kenzie and Kylie Paige, with Tommy Henry) vs. The Country Gentlemen (AJ and KC Cazana, with Joe Cazana)

Folks, this won’t be a technical masterpiece but more a Jackson Pollock slobberknocker.

The bell rings, and the Paige’s take care of business with the boys. Outside the ring, the Cazanas take their liberties, beating Kenzie and Kylie down. Once they’re in the squared circle, The Country Gentlemen are anything but “gentlemanly,” and “White Lightning,” KC struts his stuff like the second coming of Jackie Fargo. He goes for a double leg drop and misses after taking too long.

AJ tosses Kenzie out, but Kylie is still fighting tooth and nail. Kenzie grabs some plunder and cracks AJ with a kendo stick on his back and legs. She and Kylie take KC for a ride with an avalanche Kenzie Cutter to cover, and AJ pulls them off.

The Paige sisters give AJ a sunset flip/dropkick combo, followed by a hip attack, and Kenzie gives a drop toe hold to KC as he falls into his brothers…err, little Bullheads.

Now there is a steel chair hip track that adds the exclamation point, followed by a dive to the outside on the Gentlemen.

Kenzie and Kylie are feeling Pretty Empowered as they pull out a table, and the Cazanas go back to work before it can get used. Galli calls this match a demolition derby, as KC gets double steel chairs to his noggin.

The Paiges play around with their white hats until AJ demonstrates why he is the Bullheaded Brute of the Gentleman and tackles the Paige sisters like a latter-day Volunteer. He sets up the table, places Kylie on it, and climbs up to finish her off. Kenzie makes the save, and then she and Kylie make AJ Ride the Pine.

Joe steps in to admonish the women, but Tommy Henry comes to his daughters’ aid and nails him with the kendo stick, releasing weeks of frustration. Back in the ring, Pretty Empowered goes for another avalanche cutter, but KC shoves them off, and AJ rocks them with a clothesline and a cover to Kenzie for the one, two, and three.

Naturally, things go the way of the Cazanas as they follow the plan, By The Book, as the show comes to a close.
