After 22 matches over 12 nights, we have a New Japan Cup winner.
The United Empire’s Callum Newman defeated Yuya Uemura in the finals to become the 2026 winner. Newman now gets a shot at the Yota Tsuji’s IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Uemura had Newman in the arm bar and it looked like things were all over for him. Newman eventually broke the hold but took a head butt for his troubles. Newman fell back on the tried and true tactic he had been using all tournament long. He pushed Uemura into the official, punched Uemura in the “lower abdomen” and spiked Uemura with the Prince’s Curse but…Uemura kicked out. An Excalibur and another Prince’s Curse had Uemura kicking out again.
Uemura battled back with a Death Rider and frog splash off the top rope but it was Newman’s turn to kick out. Uemura tried another splash off the top rope but Newman super kicked him. Kiss The Crown clothesline and the Make Way slam finally pins Uemura.
Newman becomes the youngest New Japan Cup winner.
As Newman celebrated, Yota Tsuji came out to confront him. He said:
“You’ve got me next. Are you ready?”
The rest of the United Empire surrounded the ring.
The champ took his leave before any monkey business could go down.
New Japan Cup Results Night 12
NJPW World TV Championship Open Challenge – Konosuke Takeshita vs X
Chase Owens and Yujiro Takahashi both come down to the ring. When they arrive in the ring, the official and Takeshita remind them that only one of them can compete for the title tonight. Yujiro wins a Rock, Paper, Scissors contest. It doesn’t take long for the fight to head to the floor when Yujiro distracts the official after pitching Takeshita through the ropes. On the floor, Chase Owens lays a beating Takeshita. Takeshita fights back DDTing Owens on the floor and then hurls Yujiro into the crowd. Yujiro DDTs Takeshita.
Owens grabs a hold of the official so that Yujiro can retrieve his cane. The crowd is actually cheering on Yujiro, if you can believe it. Takeshita disarms Yujiro and gives Owens a Blue Thunder Bomb. Takeshita pins Yuiro with Raging Fire.
Winner: …and still NJPW World TV Champion, Konosuke Takeshita.

Matasumoto doesn’t get up in time from Taichi’s Pinche Loco.

Douki and Taguchi are left in the ring. Douki tries to do a springboard something but misses. Taguchi puts him in the ankle lock. \
Douki grabs the official so that Sho can…hit Taguchi in the ass with his wrench?!?!?!?
“I think Taguchi usually has to pay for that,” says Walker Stewart.
Douki rolls him up for the win.

Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma vs United Empire (Great-O-Khan & HENARE)
Henare puts Honma in his full nelson submission hold. Honma taps out. The bell rings and Henare won’t let go. He then attacks the Young Lions. Khan works over Umino’s elbow using the ringside barricade.

Unbound Co. (Shingo Takagi, Drilla Moloney & Taiji Ishimori) vs United Empire (Jake Lee, Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young)
Ishimori is foiled when Akira turns his Bone Lock into a Ground Tarantula. Ishimori taps out. Lee and Drilla trade blows.

Boltin Oleg, Aaron Wolf & Toru Yano vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Ren Narita, Don Fale & Dick Togo)
Wolf makes Togo submit to his triangle lock.

Unbound Co. (Yota Tsuji, Yuto-Ice, OSKAR & Daiki Nagai) vs TMDK (Zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa, Hartley Jackson & Kosei Fujita)
Fujita makes Young Lion Nagai submit. Ice and Fujita get in a shoving match. On the microphone, Ice tells Fujita:
“If you really hate me I want to feel that hate because I hate you! I am always ready to beat the crap out of you.”
Fujita claims he has made more money in the business than Fujita so his philosophy wins out. He continued:
“Maybe if you and I beat the holy hell out of one another then that fire and hate will make us both a lot of money.”
Fujita tries to respond but the microphone is off. Ice and the crowd laughs. When it is working again he says:
“I don’t care about fighting. This is the King of Sports. This is NJPW. It isn’t about fighting. It is about wrestling.”
He wants to fight Ice and Oskar for the IWGP Tag Team Championship with Zack Sabre Jr. Zack nods in agreement.
Oskar and Ice agree to the challenge.
