Wednesday is once again upon us! Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite airs from San Antonio, TX.
WrestleDream pushed a number of story lines and tonight we might find out where all of them are headed next!
Having revealed the belts for the Women’s Tag Team Championships earlier, tonight we will finally know the bracket. Two title matches are also on the card tonight as The Opps defend against The Hurt Syndicate and Kazuchika Okada defends against Bandido. Get comfy!
The show starts off with a recap montage of WrestleDream this past weekend.
They next show Page backstage after his title defense Saturday. He says he’s going to ruin Samoa Joe’s life when he sees him next.
1. The Opps (c) vs. The Hurt Syndicate for the AEW World Trios Championships
Samoa Joa and MVP have their eyes locked on each other as all six men are in the middle of the ring. Referee Aubrey Edwards separates them before it gets rowdy.
Shelton Benjamin starts against Katsuyori Shibata. Benjamin looks for an ankle lock but Shibata counters.
Lashley and Hobbs tag in but Samoa Joe tags himself in, depriving the fans of what they want. Lashley pounces. Joe tags in and all six men get quick tags and moves in short order.
Back from commercial, Joe is in the corner taking it to Benjamin. He goes for a headlock in the center of the ring.
Interesting tactic to single out Benjamin instead of MVP as The Demand did in Toronto at All Out.
The two exchange big shots in the center of the ring on their feet. Both stifled, tags are made to Lashley and Shibata. Hobbs breaks up a pinfall attempt and Lashley looks ready for a fight. Cue the “MEAT” chants! Joe can’t stop it this time.
Someone check the Richter scale on this dynamite collision! (Shhh. It was perfect, okay?)
Two massive humans collide as the Trios titles are on the line!

Lashley gets close the getting the Hurt Lock but Hobbs backs him into the corner. Lashley kicks out of a pinfall attempt. MVP gets in and Joe goes right for his eyes. MVP goes for the throat and then drops the elbow. Shibata breaks up the cover.
MVP is about to drop Joe but Ricochet shows up, just to say hi. MVP gets put into the Coquina Clutch.
Winners: The Opps retain.
MVP gathers Benjamin and Lashley and rush after The Demand.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring with The Opps, asking why Joe and the Opps attacked Page Saturday. Joe says he’s a hunter lying in wait to prove Page wrong. The crowd is clearly on the Cowboy’s side. Joe says that he, Hobbs, and Shibata stand in opposition to everybody and are never lacking.
Mercedes “12-belt” Mone arrives with an entourage to help carry her titles.
Renee Paquette is backstage with AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander. She asks Mone is she’s beaten Toni Storm twice or won the Women’s World Championship. As she talks, Statlander spins in front of Paquette to her other side, and then spins back to her original spot. Distracting. But safe to say it was meant for Mone.
Statlander accepts Mone’s challenge for the title at Full Gear.
Back from another commercial, Darby Allin’s music hits as the lights go dim. He shows up with the AEW flag he took up to the top of Mt. Everest. The AEW flag he choked out Jon Moxley with.
Allin said he had his doubters before he went up to Mt. Everest – he was told it would be bad for PR. He is willing to go where nobody else will go – for AEW. He shows off the scabs all over his chest and stomach.
He knows the Death Riders will keep coming. He says he’s not far behind them. Short and sweet.
Backstage, Jurassic Express reflect on their history. They’re coming for the AEW Men’s World Tag Team Championships.
2. Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne vs. Julia Hart and Skye Blue vs. Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale vs. Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter
The winners of this match pick their first round opponents in the tournament bracket.
How can anyone not clap along to Nightingale’s entrance theme? Penelope Ford plugging her ears for Hayter’s entrance is hilarious.
Nightingale and Blue start off. Cameron tags in as Nightingale has Blue in the one friendly corner. Penelope Ford blind tags herself in and Blue is obviously not thrilled. Ford chops Cameron’s throat and gets her into the corner with the Megasus. Nightingale saves Cameron but gets sent outside the ring.
Jamie Hayter tags herself in for Cameron. Hayter and Bayne go after it. Bayne gets sent into the corner and Hayter tags in Aminata. She takes them both down before she and Ford take everyone out!
Back from commercial break, the Sisters of Sin are both going after Aminata. She headbutts both and tags in the first available person, Nightingale. She calls for Harley after getting both Blue and Hart down. Bayne inserts herself and drags Blue to her corner, making them legal.
Julia Hart is forced to break up a pinfall attempt. Bayne hits a massive double German suplex on Hart and Blue. Action breaks down and Hayter tags in, going after Ford. They put a sick move Excalibur dubs the Headbutt Hayterade.
Winners: Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata earn the choice. They call out the Sisters of Sin for the first round! Julia Hart and Skye Blue seem alright with this decision.
Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata get the win and have selected Julia Hart and Skye Blue!

The Young Bucks are backstage, trying to get Tony Khan’s attention for a money match. Renee Paquette asks them quickly before they shoo her off.
Tony Khan offers $400,000. Jurassic Express and JetSpeed vs. Young Bucks and FTR on Collision the Saturday!
Renee Paquette is in the ring and introduces The CEO “Ultimo Mone!”
Her music plays but Mercedes Muppe shows up at the table in front of the cake. The impression is spot-on! The music plays again and Mone shows up. She is not thrilled. She tells all the men holding her belts to go to the back. She gets in the ring and tells Paquette to leave.
She asks Harley what she thinks she’s doing. She calls Cameron “pathetic” and “desperate for attention”. Muppe mimes her words as Mone talks. Peak content right here, folks. She stuffs Muppe’s face into the cake.
Cameron gets pulled out from under the table. BUT WAIT! Kris Statlander also emerges and drops Mone onto the same cake!
Art…

A promo airs of Moxley after his loss Saturday night. Moxley gave no excuses. He says Allin was just better that match. He says his only competition is himself. He and the Death Riders set the standard and nobody can measure up. He still knows exactly who he is.
3. Kyle O’Reilly vs. Jon Moxley
This sitcom video for The Conglomeration is everything you want it to be and then some. Everyone comes out to accompany O’Reilly to the ramp.
Moxley and Marina Shafir enter the arena from outside, but not before he non-verbally asks for a couple of slaps to the face from her. He’s ready for a fight.
The two start with teasing a grapple. The crowd reminds Moxley that he said “I Quit” Saturday.
O’Reilly goes for a leg lock but Moxley quickly gets to the ropes, forcing the break. Moxley uses his viciousness and bites his way out of a hold.
Back from commercial break, O’Reilly grabs an advantage with some stiff kicks and knee strikes. Moxley gets stuck in a Triangle Sleeper in the center of the ring.
Kyle O’Reilly has been able to keep stride with Jon Moxley as they battle on the ground as #AEWDynamite is LIVE on TBS and HBO Max

Moxley forces his way to ropes, catapulting O’Reilly’s neck into the ropes. Showing some savvy desperation.
O’Reilly hits a big knee drop and a couple more moves. Moxley weakly raises one shoulder to stop the count. O’Reilly goes into a cross arm-breaker, almost making Moxley break. A lariat and a Piledriver but O’Reilly kicks out! Bulldog choke but O’Reilly gets his foot on the rope.
A rolling elbow from O’Reilly is countered by Moxley but O’Reilly counters and gets an ankle lock. Moxley elbows the ref.
Winner: Kyle O’Reilly via disqualification.
More refs arrive as the Conglomeration and the Death Riders show up and brawl. Perfect time for a commercial! *rolls eyes*
4. The Conglomeration vs. Death Riders
Orange Cassidy starts with Wheeler Yuta, a wrestler he trained and was betrayed by, before Yuta betrayed Danielson.
Both roll around a bit before Cassidy tries a Crucifix. Yuta gets out of it and tags in Daniel Garcia. Garcia gets Cassidy down and showbodes way too much. Cassidy gets him and walks over, tagging in Mark Briscoe. Time for some Redneck Kung-Fu!
Roderick Strong tags himself in as Briscoe gets Garcia to the corner. Garcia fights out and tags in Claudio Castagnoli. He and Strong fought recently in as hard-hitting a fight as you’ll see. Again, Castagnoli’s European Uppercut is just devastating.
On the outside, Wheeler Yuta looks to get a cheap shot in but Strong drops him and then gets Castagnoli as well. Castagnoli fights back and drops Strong’s throat onto the barricade!
Back from commercial break, Garcia takes it to Strong as he’s been isolated but he fights out of a choke-hold.
Almost hesitantly, Strong tags in Cassidy. He drops Garcia and Yuta to the outside. Hands go in the pockets!
Castagnoli chops Cassidy’s chest but he fights it off. Briscoe takes on both Castagnoli and Yuta, then making sure Garcia gets some special attention, too.
Briscoe picks up Yuta and the action breaks down quickly. It culminates with a Yuta Busaiko knee to Briscoe. Jay Driller to Yuta.
Winners: The Conglomeration.
Pac shows up but Ishii evens the odds. Marina Shafir hits him below the belt and the Death Riders go for more offense. Darby Allin shows up with the baseball bat and drops Castagnoli. The Death Riders flee.
Alicia Atout is outside with Mercedes Mone, still covered in cake. Athena shows up with a proposition, entering the Women’s Tag Team Tournament with Mone. The CEO likes that idea.
Accompanied by none other than Don Callis, Kyle Fletcher enters the ring and has a mic. He hugs Don Callis and then speaks. He gloats for a while but Mark Briscoe’s heard enough.
Briscoe wants another title shot. Callis says he reeks of desperation. He compares Briscoe’s sizeable family to his own Don Callis Family. He rejects Briscoe’s offer.
Here is the bracket we’ve been waiting for!

Renee Paquette is backstage with Mina Shirakawa, who gets interrupted by Thekla. These two will meet in the ring Saturday on Collision.
5. Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Bandido for the AEW Unified Championship
Brody King comes out with Bandido, sending him to the ring.
The two grapple to start and Okada is backed up to the ropes. Lock in, everyone.
Oh baby…

Shout out the little kid flipping off Okada as he holds Bandido in front of his family. Bandido fights out.
Back from commercial break, Bandido drops onto Okada outside the ring. Then he does this.
Okada fights back, going after the injured shoulder of Bandido. Instead of a Tombstone, Okada drops Bandido’s shoulder onto his thigh for a shoulder breaker.
Bandido goes over to the medical staff by the timekeeper’s desk but Okada pulls him back into the ring. Bandido fights off and hits his move but can’t get his left arm involved as much. Okada raises the shoulder the stop the count. Who else drops bodies like this?
Bandido hits a Rainmaker on Okada! He goes for more but Okada hits the Rainmaker and wins it.
Winner: Kazuchika Okada retains.
The Don Callis Family comes out to celebrate. Missing is Konosuke Takeshita. Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis meet him on the ramp to try and talk him down as he looks incensed at Okada.
