To quote the unmatched Tony Schiavone: “Iiiiiit’s Wednesday!”
Middle of the week got you down? There’s nothing quite like some quality wrestling to pick my mood up when I’m feeling blue. If you’re like me, some good Elite graps await us as AEW continues* its Philadelphia residency at the famous 2300 Arena, having begun last week.
As Excalibur goes over the night’s events, he’s interrupted by Gabe Kidd. He calls out Darby Allin and guess who shows up! Allin’s anything but scared, that’s for sure.
After the brawl spills to the outside of the ring, Allin hits a Coffin Drop. Kidd comes back with gouging the eyes from behind. Wheeler Yuta tries to surprise Allin but he’s prepared. Allin pulls out a skateboard covered in thumbtacks. He fights off Yuta with it before turning it back towards Kidd laying in the corner.
Here come Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, and Claudio Castagnoli.
The lights go dark and HOOK’s light shows and his (new) music hits. He looks back towards the entrance and here come Powerhouse Hobbs and Samoa Joe. Willow Nightingale joins the fray to get her hands on Marina Shafir.

I think a lot of us would be lying if we said we weren’t jealous of HOOK’s hair.
Behind the arena, Kidd grabs a hammer and tries to take out Allin. He ends up leaning against a pick-up truck. Some powder to the eyes and Allin deposits Kidd into a body bag! The body bag is tied to the back of the truck and Allin drives off!
What a way to start the show!
1. Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Alex Windsor for the TBS Championship
Mone takes control and uses the ropes, trying for a Hurricanrana. Windsor counters, teasing the Sharpshooter. Mone gets stifled with a Back Drop and a heavy chop to the chest.
Mone gets the Statement Maker locked in but Windsor moves her hips towards the ropes to force the break.
The space between the ring and the fan barricade is quite narrow but Windsor makes use of the gap. Windsor grabs Mone’s knee, ramming in multiple times into the apron. Mone comes back with an upkick and then drops Windsor’s upper back onto the same part of the apron.
Back from commercial, both are laid out in the ring, spent already from an intensely physical match-up. Windsor counters a rope fall with a headbutt. After a failed pinfall, Windsor goes for a Sharpshooter but Mone fights her off.
Windsor locks it in but Mone pulls her hair to break free and goes right into a Statement Maker. Windsor counters and picks her up. Mone hits a Crucifix Bomb but can’t secure the win.
Windsor again goes for the Sharpshooter but Mone rolls both of them out to the outside of the ring. Windsor keeps a hold of both of Mone’s ankles. Mone taps out but the match can’t be won outside the ring.
The Champ taps, but it's outside of the ring!

Mone counters and locks in another Statement Maker. She rolls into a Backstabber but Windsor counters with a tough Lariat. Mone goes for the Mone Maker but Windsor hits another headbutt. Mone stays down, but just for two again! We fight on.
On the ropes, Windsor hits another headbutt but Mone drops her challenger and gets the Statement Maker with the unmatched S-grip. Mone rolls away as Windsor reaches for the rope. Windsor tries a Stack counter but can’t keep Mone down. Mone counters right back with a Cradle and ends it.
Winner: Mercedes Mone retains.
Mone gloats at her challenger’s failed attempt. Windsor goes for a handshake but Mone flips the bird. Mone gets another Statement Maker locked in!

Renee Paquette is backstage with Hobbs and Samoa Joe, HOOK comes up, teasing some tension within The Opps. Samoa Joe says HOOK has every right to be upset at what happened, being replaced. But Joe reiterates that they have his back no matter what.
Ricochet and Gates of Agony are backstage and they call out The Hurt Syndicate. Ricochet lays out the challenge (sorry, “demand”) for All Out in Toronto!
Mark Briscoe hits the ring to a rousing “Dem Boys” chant from the crowd. The 2300 is where Mark and Jay fell in love with professional wrestling. He says his focus is on Kyle Fletcher and the TNT Championship. Where Kyle Fletcher is, Don Callis isn’t far behind.
The crowd goes into their unsurprising chant and Excalibur says it’s not the first time this arena has voiced their disdain for him. Briscoe calls out the Family. Callis comes out with Rocky Romero and Lance Archer.
Callis calls out Konosuke Takeshita as Briscoe’s opponent to earn a shot at Fletcher’s title. The Alpha’s music hits. Takeshita gets into the ring and the two stare each other down before the Alpha gets out of the ring.
Briscoe says he’s ready to fight and Rocky Romero looks ready to fight. But Callis stops him and Lance Archer gets sent into the ring.
2. Mark Briscoe vs. Lance Archer
Briscoe uses his speed and athleticism advantage over the stronger Archer. he gets dropped onto the apron and Archer gets an idea, turning the steel steps onto their side. He chokeslams Briscoe, back-first onto the steps.
After the commercial break, a graphic comes up showing that Briscoe will take on Takeshita on Collision!
Briscoe fights back, sending Archer over the top rope and the fans are eating it all up. Briscoe looks for the Jay Driller but Archer’s size allows him to fight it off.
Archer goes for a pinfall but Briscoe somehow gets out of it. Briscoe is looking for his 50th win in AEW. He lands on his feet after an attempted Back Body Drop and hits a few Redneck Kung-Fu hits. Briscoe hits a Froggy Beau and pins Archer.

Winner: Mark Briscoe.
AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm cuts a recorded promo. She praises the iconic venue and calls for any and all challengers for her title. She says that God doesn’t judge because “that’s my job”.
Renee Paquette is backstage with Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron. Cameron has apparently re-injured her nose. Statlander keeps her calm. This dynamic is amazing. Cameron calls out Brodido but Statlander says they’re sticking to focusing on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.
Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta interrupt them. Statlander says she got their “friend’s message” – words of encouragement from Jon Moxley.
3. Brodido (c) vs. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta (with Marina Shafir) for the AEW Men’s Tag Team Championship
Yuta starts against Bandido. The crowd wastes no time letting Yuta know how they (we?) feel about him. Yuta nails a Leg Lock but Bandido’s arm is right by the rope.
Soon, both makes tags and the meat chants are appropriate.

I’m not sure a lot of people would be able to take this shot any differently that Castagnoli here. During the commercial break, Yuta and Bandido lock up but Yuta fights out with a beautiful Standing Missile Drop Kick.
Bandido gets caught by Castagnoli and looks primed for a spin. He counters and is able to tag in Brody King. He gets Yuta and Castagnoli into the corner and hits both with a massive cannonball. Castagnoli kicks out of the cover.
As Bandido goes to the corner, Shafir grabs his ankle just long enough for Castagnoli to nail him with a massive shot. Jon Moxley shows up and drives King’s head into the ring post. Yuta covers Bandido but he kicks out at two!
Castagnoli takes him for a Giant Swing and Yuta kicks his head. King breaks up the pin just in time. Moxley looks like a wolf going slowly at King but Darby Allin is back to make the save.
Castagnoli and Yuta get rocked with shots from King. Bandido hits Yuta with 21!
Winners: Brodido retain.
Paquette is backstage again, this time with Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada. He says he’s the “top dog” in the Don Callis Family, regarding the tension between him and 2025 G1 Climax winner Konosuke Takeshita.

Adam Priest interrupts and FTR challenge his to a match on Collision, daring him to find a tag-team partner.
4. AEW Men’s World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and JetSpeed vs. TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, Josh Alexander, and the Young Bucks
Page and Alexander start for their respective sides. After Fletcher interferes, Omega inserts himself and then everything breaks down. It’s funny how there’s always one ref tasked with keeping a 4v4 tag match controlled.
A great sequence sees all four faces sync up for a work of art.

Later in the match, Page and Omega attempt to make Fletcher pay but Josh Alexander drops Page. Page comes back with a huge Pop-Up Powerbomb on Fletcher. “Speedball” Mike Bailey goes for his patented TKD kicks to Alexander’s ribs. Alexander gets momentum back by rolling out of the way.
