A hometown return, a heated contract signing and multiple rivalries reaching boiling point made for a chaotic night on AEW Dynamite, as the road to Dynasty continued to intensify.
With the AEW World Championship picture front and centre, the show delivered a mix of in-ring action, backstage violence and escalating personal tensions. By the end of the night, several feuds had taken dramatic turns, and the stakes heading into Dynasty had grown even higher.
The show opened with Tony Schiavone introducing Kenny Omega and MJF for their contract signing. Before the segment could fully unfold, Chris Jericho made a surprise return in his hometown of Winnipeg. Jericho soaked in the reaction and simply declared, “I’m home,” before exiting, leaving the focus on the championship rivalry.
Moments later, chaos erupted backstage as Will Ospreay launched a violent attack on Jon Moxley. Wheeler Yuta attempted to intervene but was thrown into a cluster of metal barrels. Security eventually separated the two, but the message from Ospreay was clear: he is not backing down from the Death Riders.
Back in the ring, tensions quickly escalated between Omega and MJF. The champion signed the contract without hesitation and attempted to seize control of the segment, but Omega cut him off before he could speak, calling out his predictable tactics.
Omega told MJF that fans were not there to hear him talk, but to watch the best wrestle, and insisted their upcoming clash was about proving exactly who that is. He framed the match as an opportunity to remove MJF from the title picture entirely and restore credibility to the championship.
MJF responded with a calculated and personal attack, targeting Omega’s past health issues. Referencing his diverticulitis, MJF described Omega as a “ticking time bomb” whose career and life were on borrowed time. The remarks visibly angered Omega, who flipped the table and struck MJF.
Mike Bailey quickly intervened, preventing the situation from spiralling further. Bailey accused MJF of deliberately provoking Omega to avoid defending his title, then issued a direct challenge for later in the night. Omega added further pressure with a cutting remark, forcing MJF to accept.
Kenny Omega, Brody King and Jack Perry vs. The Demand (Bishop Kaun, Ricochet and Toa Liona)
The action began with a high-energy trios match as Omega teamed with Brody King and Jack Perry against The Demand.
The bout quickly descended into chaos, with all six men brawling in and around the ring. Perry’s aerial offence shifted the action outside early, while a triple suplex from Omega’s team showcased their dominance.
Back from the break, the pace remained relentless. Ricochet landed a 450 Splash on Omega for a near fall, while Toa Liona’s power helped The Demand regain control. The match spilled to the outside again, culminating in King being driven through a table in a high-impact moment.
Despite the momentum swings, Omega remained composed. He fired back with a V-Trigger before hitting the One Winged Angel on Bishop Kaun to secure the victory.
Winners: Kenny Omega, Brody King and Jack Perry
Backstage, the chaos continued as Adam Copeland and Christian Cage stormed into a locker room searching for FTR. Instead, they were met by Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero, who ambushed them with chairs in a premeditated attack.
Will Ospreay vs. Pac
Ospreay’s scheduled match with Pac began brutally, as Pac attacked him on the entrance ramp before the bell.
Medical officials attempted to stop the contest, but Ospreay refused to back down. Once the match officially began, Pac targeted him relentlessly, focusing on submissions and grounding offence.
Ospreay fought through the punishment, delivering a 450 Splash and a series of strikes to regain momentum. Pac responded with a Tombstone piledriver and a Black Arrow, coming within inches of victory.
The closing sequence saw Pac apply the Brutalizer, but Ospreay managed to counter, rolling through into a pinfall to steal the win.
Winner: Will Ospreay
After the match, Ospreay was overwhelmed by Death Riders. Claudio Castagnoli and others joined the assault, placing Ospreay’s neck inside a chair. Jon Moxley stopped the attack short of further damage, instead issuing a warning that things would only escalate if Ospreay continued to push the rivalry.
Mina Shirakawa and The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter) vs. Triangle Of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue and Thekla)
The women’s division delivered fast-paced six-woman tag action as Mina Shirakawa teamed with Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor against Julia Hart, Skye Blue and Thekla.
The match featured rapid tags and frequent momentum shifts, with Shirakawa’s Tornillo standing out as a highlight. Triangle of Madness attempted to gain an advantage through underhanded tactics, including a failed attempt to use brass knuckles.
Hayter ultimately took control, delivering the Hayter Line to Hart to secure the win after a strong closing stretch.
Winners: Mina Shirakawa and The Brawling Birds
Darby Allin then made his way to the ring, calling out MJF and accusing him of hiding behind alliances. Don Callis interrupted alongside his group and announced that Andrade El Idolo would face Allin at Dynasty, with a future AEW World Championship opportunity on the line.
The segment quickly turned physical, with Allin fending off multiple attackers before King and Perry evened the odds. Meanwhile, Omega observed from commentary, his focus shifting between MJF and the growing number of contenders.
AEW World Title Eliminator Match: MJF vs. Mike Bailey
The main event saw MJF face Bailey in an eliminator match, with the challenger looking to prove himself against the champion.
Bailey controlled the pace early with his speed and striking, landing a series of kicks and high-flying attacks that kept MJF on the defensive. A near fall following a flurry of offence nearly secured the upset.
MJF gradually slowed the match down, targeting Bailey’s back and looking for openings. A pivotal moment came when he delivered a piledriver on the ring apron, shifting momentum decisively.
Back inside the ring, Bailey attempted one final comeback, but MJF cut him off and delivered the Heat Seeker to seal the victory.
Winner: MJF
After the match, MJF continued the assault, raining down punches on Bailey in a show of dominance. The attack brought Kenny Omega rushing back to the ring, forcing MJF to retreat.
Omega checked on Bailey before turning his attention to MJF, the two locking eyes as the show came to a close. With Dynasty approaching, their rivalry now feels more personal than ever, and the AEW World Championship picture has never looked more volatile.
