Tensions surrounding AEW Revolution escalated in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night’s AEW Dynamite as “Hangman” Adam Page and MJF clashed in a chaotic closing segment that spilled from a press conference to ringside.
The confrontation capped a packed episode of AEW Dynamite featuring two championship matches, multiple post-match attacks, and several developing rivalries across the roster. Earlier in the night, the Death Riders opened the show with a controversial victory, Kyle Fletcher retained the TNT Championship with outside help, and Willow Nightingale successfully defended the TBS Championship.
Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley) vs. Don Callis Family (Hechicero and Konosuke Takeshita)
The show opened with Tony Schiavone and Bryan Danielson welcoming viewers before the Death Riders and the Don Callis Family made their way to the ring.
Claudio Castagnoli began the match against Hechicero. The two exchanged shoves before Castagnoli rolled Hechicero up early for a near fall. Jon Moxley and Konosuke Takeshita soon entered the match, but Takeshita gained the upper hand with a powerful lariat on Castagnoli.
After a commercial break, Hechicero dumped Castagnoli over the top rope. Moxley tagged in but appeared to be struggling with a knee injury sustained during the break. Takeshita rocked Moxley with a right hand and a running knee before tagging Hechicero.
Hechicero followed with a spinebuster on Moxley, but Castagnoli returned to the ring and swung Hechicero before raking his eyes and rolling him up for the victory.
Winners: Death Riders
Following the match, Don Callis, Mark Davis, and Lance Archer entered the ring and attacked the Death Riders. Archer struck Moxley with his loaded cast, and Takeshita was handed a steel chair. However, Takeshita hesitated and refused to use it, frustrating the rest of the group.
Backstage, tensions continued to rise as Kyle Fletcher and MJF engaged in a heated verbal exchange.
AEW TNT Championship: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Mike Bailey
“Speedball” Mike Bailey entered next to challenge Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Championship. Don Callis joined commentary as the champion made his way to the ring.
Bailey started aggressively, landing sharp kicks before Fletcher turned the momentum by driving Bailey shoulder-first into the steel ring steps. Fletcher controlled the pace inside the ring with a suplex and corner offense.
Bailey rallied with a hurricanrana, a standing moonsault, and a poisonrana on the ring apron.
Following the break, Bailey continued to build momentum with a Tornillo and several near falls. Fletcher responded with a sit-out powerbomb as the match entered its closing minutes.
Bailey landed a top rope poisonrana and a spinning kick to the head, but Fletcher survived. As Bailey looked poised to finish the match, Kazuchika Okada appeared on the apron. The distraction allowed Fletcher to rake Bailey’s eyes and strike him with the TNT Championship belt.
Fletcher followed with a brainbuster to secure the victory.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
Brody King vs. Jiah Jewell
Brody King quickly dominated his opponent. Jewell attempted an early attack, but King flattened him with a clothesline and ended the match moments later with the Gonzo Bomb.
Winner: Brody King
After the match, Swerve Strickland emerged from the crowd wearing King’s mask and choking him with a chain. King recovered, snapping the chain and delivering a suplex before crushing Strickland with a cannonball in the corner.
Darby Allin and Orange Cassidy vs. The Dogs (David Finlay and Gabe Kidd)
Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin teamed up against David Finlay and Gabe Kidd in the next contest.
The match quickly spilled to the floor as Allin and Kidd brawled around ringside. Cassidy briefly regained control inside the ring with an elbow drop, while Allin launched himself through the ropes onto Finlay.
After the break, Cassidy fired off chops and hit a tornado DDT. Allin entered the match and delivered a springboard Coffin Drop before locking Kidd in a Sharpshooter.
Chaos erupted again at ringside when Clark Connors attacked Cassidy with a tire iron. Kidd capitalised by trapping Allin in a sleeper hold before Finlay planted him face-first. Kidd then delivered a piledriver to finish the match.
Winners: The Dogs
After the bell, Connors speared Cassidy in the corner. Roderick Strong entered the ring as Finlay, Kidd, and Connors held Cassidy in place. Strong appeared ready to attack Cassidy, but instead turned on the trio, chasing them away and sharing a high five with Cassidy.
AEW TBS Championship: Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Persephone
Persephone challenged Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship next.
Persephone showcased impressive athleticism early with a hurricanrana and a fallaway slam. Nightingale responded with power offense and a cannonball on the outside during the break.
Back in the ring, Persephone countered a moonsault attempt with a German suplex and attempted to finish Nightingale with a Razor’s Edge.
Nightingale reversed the move into a surprise pinfall to retain her championship.
Winner: Willow Nightingale
Mark Briscoe and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs. FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Tommaso Ciampa
The main tag team bout of the night featured Mark Briscoe teaming with Matt and Nick Jackson against FTR and Tommaso Ciampa.
The match began with a wild brawl as all six men fought around ringside. Briscoe and Ciampa eventually squared off inside the ring, exchanging forearms.
Following the break, the action escalated further. Briscoe launched himself off the barricade, and the Young Bucks combined for several double-team attacks. FTR responded with power offense, including sending Nick Jackson crashing through a table outside the ring.
Ciampa accidentally struck Cash Wheeler during a miscommunication, allowing the Bucks to hit double superkicks.
Later, FTR delivered the Shatter Machine to Briscoe, but the fall was broken up. The chaos continued around the announce desk before Ciampa regained control inside the ring.
Ciampa finished Briscoe with a running knee.
Winners: Tommaso Ciampa and FTR
After the match, Ciampa brutally attacked Briscoe with steel chairs. He wedged one around Briscoe’s neck and delivered an Air Raid Crash off the middle rope onto the chairs.
Hangman Page and MJF press conference
Bryan Danielson moderated a press conference between “Hangman” Adam Page and MJF ahead of their Texas Death Match at Revolution.
When asked about his motivation, Page insisted his focus was on the AEW World Championship because it meant everything to MJF.
MJF said he wanted fans to leave Revolution believing he was the true professional wrestler after defeating Page. Page responded by saying he planned to send MJF to the hospital.
Page also called himself the master of Texas Death Matches, saying he has both made and ended careers in the stipulation. When asked what would happen if he failed to win the title, Page became emotional and vowed that he would capture the championship.
MJF then attempted to offer Page a beer. Page threw it aside, and the two immediately began brawling.
The fight spilled through the crowd before reaching the ring. Security rushed in, but Page fought them off. MJF attempted to strike Page with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Page countered with the Dead Eye.
Page then introduced a barbed wire board and prepared to deliver another Dead Eye on the ring apron. MJF narrowly escaped and retreated through the crowd.
The two men stared each other down from opposite sides of the arena as the broadcast came to a close.
