AEW Collision: Mucha Lucha with Andrade El Idolo and Mascara Dorada

It’s Saturday night, and it’s all right for fighting on AEW Collision. So you know what that means?

No, not to learn about the Strait of Hormuz, because we are not in the business of Hormuz Nuz that you can Uz (plus, Stephen Colbert beat me to that).

This is the final show before we go to the AEW Revolution pay-per-view with tons of action, and we will see Andrade El Idolo in lucha action against Mascara Dorada. From the San Jose Civic in San Jose, CA. Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone have the call for the last show before the PPV, and your First Match of the Night is…

Kevin “The Jet” Knight vs. El Clon

At the onset, Clon is focused, but The Jet flies in and out of the ring to befuddle the luchador. A suplex to Knight and he’s back in the ring with a leg submission, but Knight reaches the ropes.

Knight nails him with a Sky High powerbomb to Clon, but he can’t capitalize. Now, The Jet nails with a splash to the outside, and during Picture in Picture, Clon starts to take control. He has some Matrix (or shall I say Grid) moves, and that blows his mind. Knight comes back with a springboard superplex, and both men are down. There is a lot of back-and-forth action, but Knight delivers the UFO splash for victory.

we get a quick shot of The Don Callis Family ahead of their trios title match at Revolution, and you know they don’t wanna drop those straps quite yet.

Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale talk ahead of their tag match with Megan Bayne and Lena Kross. Cameron thinks they’re in over their heads, but Nightingale reminds her who they are, and she promises to take care of Kross at Zero Hour. That fires up Cameron, and she promises they will “eat glitter and s*** cotton candy!”

Thekla gets on the mic and says she is sick and tired of Statlander. She claims she is afraid of her, and that being our Big Stat Daddy, destroying the Sisters of Sin. She undoes her belt and hands it to Thekla and begs her to whip her back. She takes it like a champ, and Thekla takes advantage, even spitting her. Stat takes the mic and says, “Don’t be afraid to do what you have to do.”

Back in the ring, we get trios action with…

The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Liona, and Bishop Kaun) vs. The Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson, Ace Austin, and Austin Gunn)

Ricochet and Austin start, but he tags in Kaun immediately. Austin drop kicks Ricochet off the apron and goes to work on Kaun. A whip to the corner, and Gunn gets involved and jabs away. Now Robinson tags in, and he and Kaun have some mind games as well as locking up.

During Picture in Picture, Kaun gets all barrels of the Bang Bang Gang, but it isn’t long before Ricochet and company put the screws to Austin, and he has nothing to offer. There is a flurry of offense and Gunn covers, but Ricochet flies with a Spirit Gun from behind and drops Liona over him for the pin and the win.

After the match, Ricochet grabs a mic and says the company is trying to sabotage his title reign. Doesn’t matter how many people are in the ring, he says; he will walk in and out as the AEW National champion since Ricochet is out of this world.

Jack Perry has thoughts on the AEW National battle royale, and he can’t fail this time. This is for his friends and family.

Toni Storm has some thoughts on the truth of the circus, and she’s been around long enough to know how it works. She says to Shafir that she will experience the full part of the circus.

Now for…

“Colossal” Lena Kross vs. Mina Shirakawa

Kross towers over Shirikawa, but she has trouble maneuvering the other half of the Timeless Love Bombs. She tries to fly, but Kross sends her face-first into the apron edge.

Kross takes her time during Picture-in-Picture, and then…

Ads (Ugh! Why is this necessary?)

Shirikawa stages a comeback and gets a sling blade for two, but a thrust kick and a slam by Kross end this decisively.

She and Bayne stand in triumph, and they are ready for any up-and-comers.

Now for the Main Event, and it is between…

Mascara Dorada vs. Andrade El Idolo ( with Lance Archer and Don Callis)

Idolo is tranquilo as he preps, and the fans chant for Lucha. Dorado offers a handshake, and Idolo kicks it away. There’s some nice back-and-forth action between the luchadors, even when El Idolo languishes on the ropes very tranquilo. Dorado is in control until El Idolo trips him outside, and he takes a pic with a fan.

Back to the beat down, and El Idolo is in the driver’s seat. Dorado comes back with a slam and a hurricanrana to the floor. He nails a DDT on th apron edge and then gives a moonsault, but Idolo gets his feet up.

During Picture in Picture, Dorado is not looking good until he gets a dropkick from the ropes. He nails a springboard huracanrna, and he sends El idolo to his knees. He retaliates with two of the Three Amigos and then climbs up top. They battle, and Dorado hits an avalanche huracanrana for a two count. A tornillo to El Idolo outside, and he measures him for a 450 splash, but it’s another near fall. They battle, and a Spanish Fly by Idolo from the middle ropes gets another count of two. The fans want them to Fight Forever, but EL Idolo delivers an avalanche hammerlock DDT, and the DM ends it in one, two, and three.

After the match, Bandido steps out, but Roppongi Vide stomps him until Brody King helps out. Strickland gets into the mix, and the rest do what Don Callis bids, but Bandido takes them out as the show comes to a close.
