Even on the evening of his last match, John Cena was still making wishes a reality, putting others before himself.
Samuel Weidenhofer, who is behind the American Kindness Tour, Ryan Bartlett of the True Classic men’s apparel brand and WWE set up a meeting with Cena for a boy named Benji who is battling cancer.
Weidenhofer has been traveling across the USA for 2 months “on a mission to make a real difference in people’s lives. Over eight weeks, I’ll be visiting communities, meeting incredible families, and connecting with kids who are facing serious challenges — from financial struggles to serious illnesses.”
Benji told Weidenhofer that he is a huge WWE fan and loves watching it with his dad. His favourite wrestler is John Cena.
“When I was nine-months-old I was diagnosed with brain cancer. Five years later, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Six years after that, I was diagnosed with lung cancer,” he said.
“He has fought more than anyone ever should,” said his mother fighting back some tears. “It has consumed the majority of his life. He is actively fighting right now.”
Benji told Weidenhofer his dream would be to see John Cena one last time. True Classic paid for Benj’s to attend the show.
“It would be one of the best moments of my life,” said Benji.
Not only did Benji attend the show but he got to meet his idol too…and Paul Heyman.
Cena holds the Guinness World Record for the number of wishes granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation with more than 650 fulfilled wishes for children with critical illnessess.
