A New York-based law firm has launched an investigation into potential privacy violations involving WWE‘s official website and the possible sharing of visitors’ personal information with third parties.
Consumer advocacy law firm Levi & Korsinsky is examining whether WWE.com has collected and shared user information without users’ full knowledge or consent. The firm is encouraging individuals who have visited the website or used its digital services to come forward, suggesting they could be eligible for compensation if privacy violations are established.
According to a statement published on the firm’s website, the investigation concerns the use of online tracking technologies and whether visitors were adequately informed about how their information was being collected and shared.
“If you visited WWE.com or interacted with its pages, videos, articles, or account features, your privacy rights may have been affected,” the firm stated. Many websites use cookies, pixels, advertising tools, analytics software, and other tracking technologies to monitor how visitors interact with their websites.
These tools may collect information about the pages you viewed, content you watched, account activity, and other online interactions. Our firm is investigating whether WWE.com shared visitor information with third parties without consumers fully understanding or agreeing to it.”
WWE Website Visitors Encouraged To Check Eligibility
As part of its investigation, Levi & Korsinsky has established an online questionnaire for individuals who have accessed WWE’s website or used its digital services. The form initially asks whether respondents have visited the wrestling promotion’s website before proceeding to questions designed to assess their potential eligibility.
Visitors are asked whether they have previously created a WWE.com account, when they last accessed the website and how they typically interacted with its content. Additional questions concern cookies, advertisements, pop-ups and other features that could potentially be used to collect information about browsing activity.
The investigation centres on whether any information collected through these technologies was shared with outside companies without visitors fully understanding or agreeing to those practices.
However, the investigation does not establish that World Wrestling Entertainment has violated any privacy laws, and no findings of wrongdoing have been announced. No class action lawsuit against WWE has also been announced in connection with the matter.
It remains unclear what prompted Levi & Korsinsky to begin examining WWE.com’s privacy practices or whether the investigation will ultimately result in legal proceedings. Individuals who believe they may have been affected can find further information and complete the questionnaire through Levi & Korsinsky’s WWE investigation page.
