A WWE and AAA star has confirmed they will undergo surgery to repair a recent knee injury.
El Hijo del Vikingo has confirmed he will undergo knee surgery following the injury that sidelined him from last week’s episode of WWE NXT. The AAA Latin American Champion shared the news on Instagram, posting a series of photos showing himself wearing a knee brace and using crutches while visiting a medical specialist. Vikingo also thanked both AAA and WWE NXT for their support as he prepares for surgery.
“Have your way Lord, not my way,” Vikingo wrote. “Family tomorrow Mr HDLV goes into surgery, thanks for your support.”
The update comes less than a week after Vikingo was pulled from his scheduled AAA Latin American Championship defence against EK Prosper on NXT. The match was cancelled after he reportedly suffered a knee injury during rehearsals before the show.
WWE later explained his absence through a storyline attack by Keanu Carver.
Despite the injury, Vikingo appeared on the July 3 episode of SmackDown to face Rey Fenix for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship. However, that bout had been taped before the injury occurred.
El Hijo Del Vikingo’s Injury Woes Prior To WWE Appearances
El Hijo del Vikingo has battled several significant injuries in recent years. In 2024, he underwent treatment for a torn meniscus and ligament damage in his right knee, keeping him out of action for several months. He also appeared to suffer a shoulder injury during a AAA match in May but returned to the ring a few weeks later.
Neither Vikingo nor WWE has revealed the full extent of the current knee injury or provided a timetable for his return. AAA has yet to announce what the surgery means for the future of the AAA Latin American Championship.
