A WWE star is doubtful that John Cena will actually retire from wrestling at the end of this year.
Speaking in an interview with “SHAK Wrestling“, Rusev was asked about John Cena’s upcoming retirement match and how he is involved in the “Last Time is Now” Tournament and admitted that he doesn’t think Cena will retire completely at the December 13 Saturday Night’s Main Event. Rusev said:
“I don’t believe it. I’m not holding my breath. I love John, and this may be his last match of this century or whatnot, but at some point, I want to see him back, whenever that is.”
Rusev is set to compete in a first-round match of Cena’s “The Last Time is Now” Tournament at the November 10 episode of Raw, where he will take on Damian Priest. Another former Cena rival, Sheamus, will also be competing in first-round action on the upcoming Raw as he takes on Shinsuke Nakamura.
Rusev And John Cena’s Rivalry
Rusev joined WWE in 2010 and worked in the developmental system until he debuted at the 2014 Royal Rumble as the Russophillic, anti-American Rusev. He would go on to capture his first title in the company in a post-Raw match following the November 3, 2014, show and began feuding with John Cena in early 2015.
Rusev defeated Cena at Fastlane on February 22, but would lose their rematch at WrestleMania 31, suffering his first pinfall loss and ending his 146-day reign as the United States Champion.
In recent news, it has been predicted that John Cena’s final match could set a new wrestling attendance record.
