A new WWE Speed Champion was crowned on last night’s episode of NXT.
El Grande Americano defended the WWE Speed Title on last night’s episode of NXT against Jasper Troy, and Troy was able to defeat Americano to capture his first title in the company.
El Grande was accompanied to the ring by Bravo Americano and Rayo Americano, who helped El Grande take control of the match by distracting Troy when he was on the outside of the ring, allowing El Grande to deliver a dive through the middle rope to take out Troy.
However, El Grande attempted to use a concealed metal plate to strike Troy, but the referee spotted the illegal object, and in the confusion that followed, Troy was able to capitalise and hit a Black Hole Slam on El Grande to get the three count and the title.
How Many WWE Speed Champions Have There Been?
There have been five WWE Speed Champions to date; the inaugural champion was Ricochet, who won the belt on the May 3, 2024, episode of Speed, defeating Johnny Gargano in a tournament final to crown the first champion. Since then, Andrade, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano (Chad Gable portrayed Americano when he won the title, and Ludwig Kaiser portrayed the character after Gable was injured in June), and now Jasper Troy have all held the title.
