Conflicting reports have emerged regarding potential changes to WWE’s creative leadership following WrestleMania 43 in 2027. PWInsider initially reported that Bruce Prichard was expected to step down as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent, remain as a consultant, and that Shawn Michaels could replace him. However, Fightful Select cited WWE sources disputing Michaels’ reported appointment and suggested Prichard could instead transition to remote work while preparing for neck surgery.
Fightful also reported that AJ Styles could gain greater influence in talent scouting, while Bobby Roode has been considered for an expanded creative role. A subsequent update indicated that PWInsider’s original reporting is now believed to be more accurate; although no changes are expected before WrestleMania 43, no definitive timetable has been established, and the situation remains subject to change.
WWE ID recruit Conan Lycan has announced that he will now compete under the ring name Kato Sykes, just one month after signing with WWE’s developmental programme. Lycan, whose real name is Nicky Mariano, received his WWE ID contract from AJ Styles during an episode of WWE Evolve in October, after impressing Styles enough to secure a tryout during SummerSlam week.
A former football player who appeared on MrBeast’s Amazon Prime reality series Beast Games, Sykes has spent eight years pursuing a WWE opportunity. He trained at Seth Rollins and Marek Brave’s Black and Brave wrestling school alongside WWE star Nathan Frazer and has previously competed on the independent circuit, AEW Dark and TNA Xplosion. He also worked two NXT dark matches during September and October.
Check out the lineup for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts.
