After defeating Cody Rhodes at Sunday Night’s Main Event — it remains a strange title — Randy Orton vowed to demolish everyone who stands in his way to becoming 15-time World Champion. Whoever wins between Sami Zayn and CM Punk, know that Orton has you in his sights.
I feel like Ricky Saints is trying to imitate Michael Jackson with his constant posing. Rey Fenix slammed him with a Poisonrana just to remind Saints who he’s dealing with. For a moment, it seemed like Fenix changed his move mid-air from what could have been a Senton to a crossbody. Nevertheless, Ricky fell victim to a Mexican Muscle Buster, which allowed Rey to retain his AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
This is the first time in years since we’ve seen Nikki Bella and Paige wrestle each other. They had an incredible rivalry for the Divas Championship in the past, which I can’t say I fully remember… Bella was being rag-dolled during this match as Paige had the upper hand. Commentary suspected that Paige was enjoying this. That pleasure was momentarily thwarted, yet Paige recaptured the momentum. However, that became irrelevant when Nikki dragged the referee in-between herself and her opponent, then used the middle rope to stack Paige.
Thanks to Lil Yatchy’s amazing tenacity on Sunday, Trick Williams was able to face Baron Corbin in a US Championship rematch and won. Because of this loss, Corbin attacked Yatchy just as Williams was giving him a grand welcome. Corbin promised that this wasn’t over. No one can tell me they didn’t laugh when they saw Yatchy being dragged with his boxers dangling out. I’ve always hated when guys lowride. It’s not as good looking as they think it is.
“He’s a whiny little b*tch!” is what Finn Balor called Gunther when he interrupted a private conversation Balor was having with Nick Aldis about Money in the Bank. The Ring General came stomping back, and Finn clocked him easy.
Nia Jax continued to loom over Chelsea Green for weeks wanting a title match and finally got one. Despite how tough, precise and effective Jax was, Green still has fight in her. Nia made sure to aim her attacks towards Chelsea’s face. The champ did well when she managed to toss NIa over her shoulders and smacked her on the mat. Jax retaliated with a Samoan Drop.
Later, Nia was able to remove Chelsea’s mask and shove her to the floor. Tiffany Stratton saw this and quickly intervened by saving Green from Lash Legend’s massively painful punch. After pushing Legend into the post, Green rolled back inside the ring. She avoided the Annihilator and retained with Unpretty-her… I think that’s how it’s actually spelt.
In a AAA Tag Team match where the War Raiders were defending against R-Truth and Damian Priest, they succeeded with this challenge. Of course, Priest was pissed, but he didn’t show it at first. I think it’s unfair to blame Truth for their loss when this is meant to be a team sport. If your partner doesn’t prevent the opposition from winning, it’s on both men. Unsurprisingly to me, he assaulted Truth. He had enough of the losing streak and possibly, the identity crisis.
Sami Zayn vs. CM Punk (c) – Undisputed Championship match
Zayn seemed to be advancing on Punk, but it was the champ who toppled him with a couple of right hands to the temple. CM came down a little wonky on his left knee that could play a factor in this game if Sami noticed. Regardless of the injured left forearm, Zayn continued to proceed with the bout. It doesn’t matter that he was slammed onto the mat, he’s resilient.
Off the reversal by Sami, CM Punk bounced off the ropes and collided with a clothesline. At a given point, Zayn had the bigger shot. However, it didn’t take Punk too long to recharge his battery bar. He used his slowly swollen knee as offence against Sami, yet he hurt himself in the process. I thought Zayn shot like a cannonball. Oh, well. Something worked.
Zayn finally took note of CM’s potentially harmed knee and went after it, as he should. Sami utilized his heavily tapped fist to punch Punk’s knee repeatedly. A swinging neckbreaker to Sami allowed Punk some breathing room and a chance to throw salt in Zayn’s wound by shattering his wrapped forearm. CM Punk viciously kept trying to remove the protective padding and failed as Zayn locked Punk into a knee related submission.
Right at this point in the match, both men focused their strikes at the other’s abrasion. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up crippled by the time this finishes. It took Punk too long to reach the top as Sami swooped in with a Superplex. Punk went for the bulldog and his knee gave out. Zayn tried the Blue Thunderbomb and his arm said “No!” the first time, but “Yes,” the second. He didn’t win there, though.
Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae came out to assist Sami with this match because Gargano was promised another opportunity if Zayn won tonight. Due to the official getting distracted by LeRae, he didn’t see Sami tap to the Anaconda Vice. Gargano slide in with the title belt and was unable to knock Punk out. Instead, he got knocked out. KO was here, too, as he attempted to use the title belt as a weapon against Sami, but he hit Punk.
I don’t see the problem.
Zayn delivered a low-blow to Owens, and nailed Punk with a Helluva Kick.
