WWE has reportedly shown interest in using a TNA title holder on their current European tour.
WWE’s latest European tour continues to generate headlines, and a new report now links TNA’s Leon Slater to potential involvement while the company travels overseas. The tour began on January 8 in Leipzig and will conclude on January 19 in Belfast. Friday night’s live event in Berlin doubled as a SmackDown taping and saw Drew McIntyre controversially defeat Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match to win the Undisputed Championship, thanks to interference from the returning Jacob Fatu.
PWInsider Elite reports that WWE has shown interest in featuring current TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater during the tour. While no appearance has been confirmed, the outlet notes that a pitch was made to have Slater work alongside Je’Von Evans, who recently signed with Raw. Evans picked up a victory over Bravo Americano on the January 12 episode of Raw, and the company continues touring ahead of Raw in Belfast next Monday and SmackDown at Wembley Arena on January 16.
Slater, 19, has recent WWE history. He unsuccessfully challenged Oba Femi for the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil, and has teamed with Evans against AJ Styles and Dragon Lee on Saturday Night’s Main Event. The pair also competed for the NXT Tag Team Championship in November.
Slater remains under contract with TNA through the end of 2026 and is currently scheduled to defend the X-Division Title in a three-way match against Cedric Alexander and Moose at Genesis on January 17. TNA iMPACT makes its AMC debut live from Dallas one night earlier.
No confirmation has been made regarding Slater’s involvement with WWE during the remaining dates of the tour.
How Long Has TNA And WWE Had A Partnership?
TNA and WWE have had a partnership since January 2025, when it was officially announced that the two wrestling promotions had signed a multi-year deal to allow talent from each company to compete for both companies.
The focus has mainly been on bringing TNA talent into WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, and sending NXT stars to TNA to get more ring time, although some TNA stars have made appearances on the main roster, and former TNA stars like Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace have been signed by WWE since the partnership started.
