It has been reported that WWE was forced to push a major World Title match to happen sooner than originally planned due to an injury on the roster.
Dave Meltzer wrote in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre match for the Undisputed WWE Championship scheduled for the November 1 Saturday Night’s Main Event was originally planned to take place at Survivor Series on November 29. Meltzer wrote that the original plan for SNME was for Jacob Fatu to face McIntyre to build towards McIntyre vs. Rhodes at Survivor Series, but because Fatu is out with a dental injury, Rhodes vs. McIntyre was bumped up to next weekend.
Meltzer wrote about how bringing the planned match forward speaks volumes about WWE’s lack of depth in the top babyface department. He wrote:
“That also speaks of the depth issue, as when Fatu went down, instead of plugging another babyface in a feud with McIntyre to set up Survivor Series, they went right to Rhodes vs. McIntyre.”
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, November 1 Lineup
The lineup for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event taking place on November 1 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, currently has only two matches advertised, despite the show being just over two weeks away. The matches that are scheduled currently are CM Punk vs. Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship and Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed Title.
